I received some pretty nice cards. Unknown: I think this card is called a flip/flop card but I could be mistaken. It has a center piece which flips to the other side when you open it. This piece has a street map stamped on one side with a globe in one corner and map/passport/ticket image mounted on ds tape in the opposite corner. Stamped around the outer frame of the card are cameras and suitcases as the background, a male tourist all decked out in tourist attire and mounted on ds tape. There is also a neat trunk which looks as if it were stamped in black ink on silver cs. Looks pretty authentic. On the other side of the card is an old looking map of the work in the center part that flips. On top of this is a passport stamp? and mounted on ds tape is a compass stamped on silver metal. The frame of the card has different travel images stamped all over in red, the old trunk again and this time a female tourist. Whoever made this card put a lot of work into it and it's a great card. Thanks. Stampalina: on craft-colored with confetti flecked cs is stamped in a sepia colored ink, an airplane image acrose a collaged piece of map. A meter image, passport and map are also stamped over the map. There is a nice postoid image, possibly a Toybox image with collage of items stamped on light yellow cs which has been cut out with deckled edged scissors. Each corner of the card has been stamped with a neat corner image with different symbols in it. Nice card. wvm@juno.com: on cinnamon colored cs is glued a nice ancient and colorful print of the world. Glued on top of this are a couple old compasses stamped in black ink on vellum. In the center of the card is, well, not I can't think of his name but I'm guessing he is an astronomer, stamped in a black on a small square of cinnamon cs and layered on bigger piece of black cs. I like the old feel of this card. Sandra Hampson: made another wonderful card. This one stands up like one of those sandwich signs. She has stamped a large postoid of a 1/2 cent stamp and embossed it in a pretty wine colored glittery ep. Off to the side is a robed woman who appears to be looking into the center of the stamp. The center of the postoid has an oval cutout. The scene which appears thru the oval is a desert scene with a pyramid, palm trees, camels, rocks and shrubs in the foreground. It appears to be colored in with chalks and is really beautiful. On the back flap is stamped "bon voyage". This is one of those cards you just have to see to appreciate. Great job. Michelle Billett: on craft-colored cs is stamped several different large postoids in black ink. Over these are glued postage stamps from different countries and very colorful, I might add. A nice touch is an old-fashioned suitcase which has been stamped, colored and mounted on top of all this. Nice collage card. Robin Cramer: on beige cs she mounted colored map paper over the whole side. She stamped a star-shaped image of a world map, cut that out and mounted it over the map. On top of that she mounted a triangular postoid image of a woman's hand holding a pen. Randomly over this card she mounted stamped images of an old airplane, motor home, and postage stamp. Also stamped on the card is the word "voyage". The whole front of the card is sealed and really give it a nice appearance. On the back of the card is stamped "post card". Great card. Thanks for Kari for hosting this swap and to all who participated. Your cards are great. Wrap a piece of sand paper around a wood block to form a sanding block, and rub away in one direction until you get it off. There is a mini sander that you could buy to do this, one is battery operated, the other is electric, which would take the stress off your hand, if you have a lot to do you might want to consider this (or borrow one from a friend, it should be a mini size), but the final sanding will still have to be done by hand to prevent tearing the paper. One way around that would be sand down as much as you can, then brush a thin layer of the envirotex onto the back once you got it sanded down somewhat, but you would ruin your brush and would have to throw it away. Once that dried, you should still be able to glue the pin back onto that. Hope that helps, Deborah This message was from MRuss72650 - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I saw an old movie once (I know I have it on tape somewhere) starring Bobby Darin (as the fashion photographer)and Sandra Dee (as his model turned wife) about how to get your husband to be the wonderful adoring man you want him to be. Sandra Dee's French mother gave her a dog training book and told her to treat her husband "like a dog". Said it worked wonders with her and Dee's father and look at what a long and strong marriage they've had. She told her to praise Darin highly when he did good things, to give him a "treat" to reinforce good behavior, etc. She also had Dee send herself dozens of roses over several days, and had her act very distracted. When hubby asked who sent the roses, Dee said "Oh, I sent them to myself . . . I just felt like roses . . . " Which of course Darin didn't buy for a minute. Got very attentive Cesar Romero's also in it. Its a fun little movie. You could make the egg patterned with a rollergraph stamp or mini stamps t o give it a calico look. Next time just agree with everything and lead him gently to bed. He'll fall asleep and remember none of it the next morning. My brother used to do this all the time. We had bunk beds for many years. Mikey had the top bunk. Each night he'd climb down muttering stuff and go straight to the bathroom, pee and go back to bed. (this involved walking straight for 4 paces, slight left, 3 paces, sharp left, 2 paces, left turn at the potty) If you left him be he was fine but if you got in his way or attempted to talk to him, you got a conversation of such insanity that you'd swear the kid was ready for Bellevue. Then we went on vacation to a little cabin up in Wisconsin. That night Mikey got out of bed, walked straight ahead, banged into the wall, turned left, banged into a dresser, turned left again and walked and banged into something else, about which time he dropped his jammies and started happily peeing onto the mattress! Woke me up real fast! Hollered for "MOM!" and we finally got himtaken care of and back to bed. During all the tumult, y'know what he was talking about? Firetrucks. There are so many more I will be putting online there. Just as with any rs idea, they change and improve over time. I love doing deminsional cards and such and have a lot of fun trying to figure out just the right placements. I also like to work with sticker paper LOTS... that seems to be one of my favorite techniques as I find it the most versitile way to put something together in just the right locations... Finding the colorful sticker papers I like to use sometimes is a challenge. I have gone to using paper samples that I can get at the local paper supply warehouse.. the samples are free so they give me the opportunity to play around a great deal. I wish I had the credits for all the stamps that I use and will use as time goes on.... that is one of the down sides to swaps but IMHO the only down side. As I said I plan to be adding to these compositions over the next several days. I also will be trying to work out some "how to" instructions for some of the things I enjoy doing... but that won't be for some time yet as I have several other iron in the fire right now...
