While it might be considered a long drive from San Francisco (distance is relative), the Warehouse does not carry Rubberstampede seconds. The Warehouse carries a huge selection of stamps from an overwhelming number of different stamp manufacturers. In addition, it carries more than ample papers and stamping-related supplies. (Can you tell I am a most-pleased customer?!) There is, however, an outlet store for Rubberstampede located within a few miles of Stamper's Warehouse. Perhaps that is what you were referring to. Just wanted to offer this clarification. After reading posts from people of have to travel vast distances to reach their closest stamp store, I count myself lucky. There are numerous stamp stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and I look forward to visiting each and every one eventually (budget allowing!) ------------------------------ From: stampatti@juno.com (Patti Welsh) Date: Sun, 9 Feb 1997 03:09:24 EST Subject: Re: TAN: Giggles and Peter... Volunteering volunteer management is sometimes the pits. >========================================================================= > Well Janet, perhaps we're looking at this from different angels. I don't manage volunteers (well, yes I do, but that's a differnt story). In this case I AM the volunteer who is called names, and treated like a piece of carpet to be tread upon and to wipe feet upon. I took over from a gal who did this job for ten years with no thanks, and I have given only one entire year of my life to this project which I feel really close to. I, and my entire staff, are totally concenscious and caring and take great pride in our work. We never even had thoughts like "I'm doing this for free so anything I do you better appreciate, it's better than nothing." much less voiced such a thing tho the fact is, if it weren't for us, it wouldn't get done. Well, yes, of course it would. Some one else would (in fact has) come along to do it. We have always done just the best we could, which I might add, was pretty durn good. We do get lots of kudos too, though we have never asked for appreciation. I have resented having had to take so much garbage and guff (not to mention being YELLED at and listening to foul language) [you haven't lived until you pick up the phone at 10:00 pm and hear "What's the f****g idea not doing what I told you to do?" from someone who 1) hasn't followed the rules that would make the desired action take place, & 2) doesn't even know what he's talking about, & 3) and hasn't the right to tell me to do anything in first place] that I have finally turned in my resignation. It is a personal medical reason with me that I can not allow myself to be subject to such stress. I only hope that my replacement will feel as caring as I did. I love what I'm doing and hate to leave it, but for my health's sake, I must. If people would have just left me alone and let me do my work, which I do well, all would be fine, but this is just another case of you can't please all of the people all of the time, which is what I was talking about in the first place. I want to send a little box for Valentine's that is about 2" X 3.5" X 3". I went to the USPS web page and calculated that to send a little box weighing only 3 ounces would cost 3.00 to send. Now, if I asked the rate for a 3 ounce envelope it comes to .78. But I won't be able to get away with it huh? I;m sending two of these, and the boxes are only worth .99, so it just seems silly to spend so much mailing them. My Hanh ------------------------------ From: "M. I like to stamp frequently using silver metallic ink, however, I have found it is hard to remove from the stamp afterwards. The rubber stays silver. What is a good way to remove it beyond ordinary methods, ie.baby wipes, stamp cleaners, Windex, etc. Thanks. It is 5:00AM and I had the strangest dream (which I will not get into!) but part of it was my sister gave me a ring for my birthday. It was beautiful! Then I woke up. I swear I had never seen this ring before but the image was so clear in my mind I went and started to sketch it and now I have to go take this idea and make it into a pin. (Except my mother-in-law is sleeping in the guest room - but as soon as she wakes....) This has happened before. I wake with an image in my head and just start to draw it. It has happened many times. I have designed dresses, cards, afghans, quilts, etc. all in my sleep. I know this sounds really bizarre, that's why I though I would share this with all of you! I have only told this to my husband - of course he related this to the movie "close encounters of a third kind" where the guy keeps drawing the butte. He says I have that same crazed look in my eye when I get an idea. You can tell he's the sensitive type. Well I guess i was hoping to find a kindred spirit here.
