Let me say there are Angels out there, I believe, and I know they are with me and my family all the time. I received a phone call from a stranger at 1:50 Saturday afternoon saying that my son, Russ, had totaled his car on a local highway in our town and we needed to get to him right away. Well - I'm a Mom - I was out the door, screaming orders at my DH to get me to the scene ASAP. As we pulled up the fire trucks and ambulance was pulling away. I jumped out of my car in the middle of traffic and ran to the site. My sons car was wrapped around a telephone pole and a brick wall was in shambles. My heart stopped!! Russ walked up to me holding his arm with an awful look on his face. He had been cut off in traffic by someone who left the scene. Two wonderful ladies stopped to assist and call the HP. He was okay but I didn't know if my DIL and 4 month old grandson were with him. He said they were not and as I inspected the car - it was obvious, that had they been present, we would not have them with us today. The car was folded up completely, except for the driver's side. We have angels - all of us. Please, family - be careful out there...... drive defensively and give the other guy plenty of room. Thanks for letting me vent! I am so grateful to God for my son's life and my DIL and GS. Eileen When our church had a tea we had about ten people to a table with one hostess- the hostess was responsible for setting the table which included a centerpiece, tablecloth and dishes... there were many themes and all the tables looked so gorgeous and different. Mine was a blue theme (blue flowered china) and so I had blue candles, blue flowers, blue cloth napkins etc... I made a bookmark for each person at the table and plastic canvased a teacup magnet for them to take home. Some others went to the thrift stores and found all kinds of unique looking tea cups and used those to serve in then the guests got to take their cup home... It was a lot of fun! one activity we always enjoy doing is having a fashion show....not your typical fashion show though... for example, I had to fashion a hat that was great for gardening in (the catch was I had to design it with a hose!) I ended up buying a cheapie straw hat and wrapping a small hose around it, added some flowers, oh... I left a bit of the hose hanging and attached a nozel to it! One lady had a cotton dress... a simple dress with cotton balls attached all over! There was the tv lounging outfit, complete with remote controls, snacks etc attached. But my favorite was the light and casual hat- a lampshade! She even had a battery remote attached to the light socket so that she could turn the light on and off! Just use your imagination on this activity.... _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Lori Croswell- sorry I missed meeting you :( WOW! What a cool day, going to my first Convention! Big Thanks to Sharon D. and Trish for letting me ride with you. As you know I really appreciated it. We got there, I went inside and just stood for a minute looking. How neat. I then met up with my Recruiter for Stampin' UP! and waited with her to go in. I got some great deals. Creative Cousins had grab bags for 2.99. I got 2 with unmounted rubber (with cushion) with about 14 images in them. Real neat ones too. I wish I would have gotten more but they went fast. At Darcie's Country Folk, it was funny to see everyone down on the floor going through tons of rubber dies. I was there too! Got two neat images. Met up with everyone at Auntie Amy's. I met Ruth Saldivini, Andrea Lum, Marilyn Roy, Eileen DeMars, Judy Jorga, (oh I wish I wrote the names down) I know there were more, I'm sorry I can't remember. I went and found Karen Koelker who was working in the Stamp Out Cute. That was neat after tallking with her for over a year. She is way cool. I also went to Stamp Camp and met Meridee Weilert, she is real neat too. I even got to "hang" with Meridee and got a some free stamps from it. Then helped Karen too and also got a few images. That prob. was the best part of the Conv. for me. FREE RUBBER! :) I didn't attend any classes, they were packed of course. I did take a lot of pictures of cards and can't wait until I get them developed. All in all it was great and I really look forward to the Puyallup. Oh wait, I traded cards, I didn't know everyone did Pins. I got some real neat pins, thanks for trading everyone. **************************************************** Please put Jana' in the subject line. I thought I had let you know. Maybe that e-mail never got to you. Anyway.... Oh shit, I just dropped the pile! :-) The cards have just thrilled Tim, but we are all enjoying them! Its so fuuny because different family members have gotten in the habit of coming over at mail time so they can get the cards for Tim! Here we go: We have a heart stamped one from Peg A mouse one by Linda "Giggles" Skirvin A cat from Mona A dog from Kate and Alan Hill A scenic one from Theresa Hee hee -- a great fish one from you. Oh -- that was to me. I stuck it in Tim's pile anyway -- it was a great one. A moose one from Barb aka Rollin? Rolla? A beautiful BOOKMARK (the one you were wondering about) from Stampcas in Brazil (the envelope was GREAT) A scenic one from Sandra Haycock and a dinosaur from Kingfisher Stamper (Margaret Addley) I think that's it. I MAY have missed one in the pile, but I don't think so. If I did, I'm sorry. Mona also sent another one yesterday. It was a cat, and the inside said, If I had two dead rats, I'd give you one. Tim busted up laughing at that one! Tell Mona he plans to use that line several times down the road. Thanks so much to everyone! Your love and support, especially considering you don't even know us, means more than we all can say and has helped us to get through this rough time. Lori and Tim and all I THOUGHT there were more birthday cards! I found two more (thankfully - -- because they were by my also buried bank statement!) Tim got one from the Olive Family in Iceland and Jean Jones in Montana. That SHOULD be it. I doubt any more will come in the mail at this late date. Bye again! Because this is a fundraiser....and the GOAL is to raise funds...here is what I have come up with! I will post a list of all entries received tomorrow.......Monday. If you have sent your entries and do not see your name.......E-mail me and tell me the number of entries sent. If they do not come on Tuesday I will make up proxy entries for you. If you have NOT sent entries yet.....but would LIKE to....E-mail me IMMEDIATELY and I will make the entries for you! You do not HAVE to make entries ......but you must send your payment immediately! IMPORTANT!!! If a name is drawn and that person has not sent the payment yet...it will be announced as a "Proxy" winner....NO NAME WILL BE LISTED!!! If payment is not received by April 7...a new name will be drawn from all paid entries that have not already won a prize. Remember, however, that there is no limit on the number of prizes you can win...but obviously if ONE of your entries has won already it will not be put back in!!! Just to clarify....people who have donated ARE ELIGIBLE to send entries for the drawing as well!! If their name is drawn for their own prize it will just go back into the drawing. The only people who can't play are Giggles and Peter Pan!! The drawing will be held at 7:00 PM EST at Giggles' house....at the Peanut Butter Fudge party! All local stampers are ENCOURAGED to attend!!! I've heard rumours that Giggles is giving door prizes....and Linda Farrell is bringing Lindt truffles...for me anyway ;-)....but heck.....I'll share!!! :-) If you don't live close enough to come to the party.... and have AOL...winners will announced live in NvrLand ! Dear caring Diana, I do know how you feel as a mom. I have two married DD's and grandkids. My older daughter pierced her bellybutton last year. It is beyond me to understand *why* she'd want a ring *there*. However, I have chosen to "just let it be". After all, she is a married woman, "her own person". And, altho I would never do such a thing myself [at least in my present frame of mind!] and I do not care for its being done, I do not criticize her.

I look at it as ... it's not a "bad" thing, like taking drugs. It is not "harming" her body. And, even if it were ... it is *her* body and her choice what she does with it. It is out of my hands and I would only be hurting myself to allow myself to get all stressed about it.

I hope this helps you, if even in just some small way, Diana.

The cards were: an embossed picture showing a mouse with strawberries, there was no greeting in the card, a mother's day card stamped on a pink background, edged with special scissors, the embossed pictures were of a butterfly and a group of flowers separated by the words "Happy Mother's Day", no message inside, card had a row of ewe's across the bottom and the verse "ewe are loved", the ewe's had white liquid applique on them, there was no message in the card, acard on brown card stock with embossed border cut to look like lace, there is a flower embossed in white as was the lace border, the message inside "Thinking of You", a notepad with a small stamp "hand stamped by", note card with an angel embossed on it, the cloud the angel was standing on has some sparkle on it, the angel wings are embossed with gold, there was a bookmark edged with special scissors, it was stamped with flowers in the corners an a girl holding a world globe, the message was "Hurt not the earth". It was my first swap and I enjoyed taking part. I'd forgotton all about that meeting. :) I still like the gold metallic tissue with crinkles the best.... you know, the stuff Norma was hoarding. LOL! & You know, fabric and ironable fusable tape stuff (forget what it's "really" called ) for the seams makes nifty envelopes too! Just do it before you put the card inside, so you don't melt your EP on your card to the inside of the envy! LOL! And don't ask me how I know. Oh, and E-6000 works for the label & postage stamp. That would probably be *fab* to coordinate with those darling yo-yo cards you make. :) The Cottage Stamper (aka Juliet Page) ~ overlooking the beginnings of a new retaining wall and a lot less mud on Mill Creek on the Chesapeake Bay ~ Maryland USA ~ This message was from Juliet Page - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
