It is GREAT fun. I made a vase. OK, well, it DOES have a pillar candle in it right now, but it's original intention was to be a vase. I didn't use a stencil. I just blocked off the design with masking tape. No harm done, so I think that contact paper would work fine. The only problem may be peeling the contact paper OFF the glass. Of course, you could always cut the design out of extra wide masking tape. I use contact paper and trace the design onto the contact paper, then cut it out with a sharp exacto knife. Then peel off the backing and stick it where I want it. Then use the glass etch acid as directed. I have roses in my camaro side windows and indian chiefs in my Jeep Cherokee. My husband had naked ladies in his camaro windows. We are very practiced at it. I don't know if it's just me or what but I hate buying a companies catalog. I figure if I'm spending my money with them, the least they can do is give me a catalog. And then companies who offer "buy our catalog and we'll give you the catalog price off of your first order" I'd just rather place my first order and have them send me a free catalog with my order. Now before I get a mailbox full of "yeah but those catalogs cost the company money to make ect", I KNOW they cost the company money. And if I just wanted a catalog, I could see them charging me for one. But when I'm placing an order and will almost definitely place more orders with them in the future, I think they could give me a catalog. Plus, why would a vendor want to let a catalog that only costs them a few bucks, keep them from even getting an order because if you don't have a catalog, you may not place an order to begin with? It just seems to me like it is more to the vendor's advantage to give a person a catalog because in the long run, they (the vendor) is the one who will end up on the better end of the deal :) Thanks, Jenn This message was from Dunigan - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Yes you can use contact paper. Another thing is that any pattern you come across that is like a stencil can be traced onto the white contact paper by using a lead pencil to blacken the back of the pattern. I have a couple of books with patterns in them plus some others. With mirrors you can get some silver strip. now you can say make an oval in the center of the mirror by putting the silver strip on the back which removes the paint and then there are two other products to remove the copper under the paint. Etch a design around the edge and you have a gorgeous picture frame. Most art supply stores carry the silver strip and the other products. Just ask and they'll be able to help you. However a word of warning is that these mirror removing products are very harsh on the skin so definitely use gloves. I usually don't need gloves with most products but this one I do. If you have any questions you can e-mail me and I'll try to help you out.
