It is traditionally used with watercolor, for gloss and for controlling spreading, you add a bit to the watercolor pigment/water mixture. It is available as a liquid and a powder.... I have only ever used the liquid. Guess the thing about the liquid version is that it will eventually go bad. But that could be a long time. (The bottle I used in college went bad, but college WAS a good 20 years ago!!!) If you buy a bottle off the shelf make sure it is a nice clear yellowy color, not brownish....that means it's been on that shelf forever! And the REALLY bad thing is, eventually all of this stuff we use will go bad. The ink dries up, the refills get clumpy or moldy, the EP will turn funny colors and get globby, the paper will turn yellow, the rubber will get brittle and hard, the cushion it's on will do the same..... Scary, ain't it?? The moral of the story? Stamp now!!!! (Though my DH would say that the moral should be Don't buy anything else until you use up what ya got! But what does he know?.... :-} ) Deborah ~dkj In a message dated 98-04-02 15:19:41 EST, mayenburg@bordercity.com writes: > I have been seeing posts from different people saying to use Gum Arabic > with Pearl Ex and water so the pearl ex will stay.
