I just had to share my excitement with someone! As many of you know, I am pretty new to all of this and am just getting my feet wet with trying out new things. I got some decorating chalks in the mail today from my Mom (she used to use them for ceramics). I used them to "decorate" a debossed heart wreath and WOW! I had been sponging on the colour but this gives such a more controlled look! I've also been playing around with vellum (stamping on, debossing, colouring and laser printed) and with more than two layers of paper on a card. I am amazing myself! I am still playing with ideas for those wedding thank you notes and the more samples I make, the more I like them! I have made a dozen samples now and with each new one I like it more than the ones before! I just hope the bride can make up her mind quickly so I'm not too rushed to get them all done! (at least 200 of them!) I just wanted to share my newbie excitement and to thank many of you for your inspiration. I read about RAK's and birthday cards that have been sent and I feel like stamping! It felt so great to do something new and to have them turn out better than I thought they would! Wow! Can you tell how excited I am? I am _so_ proud of myself! (is that a little too conceited?). But hey, there's no one home right now to tell me they look good, so I might as well say it to myself! Sorry for not posting sooner. Thanks to Christine Cox for hosting this swap. Great first venture! Christine Cox - Two Stampington & Co. eggs done with the Joseph's coat technique. Really great colors! I've never gotten this kind of results when I tried this technique, but you've inspired me to try again. Also another card with a pretty egg with a rose design mounted on mosaic strip background over glossy pink cardstock. This is then mounted on burgandy cardstock sponged with gold. Did you coat the mosaic strip with something to make it glossy? Very nice. Laura - A pretty Stampington & Co. egg in a holder that is colored in and embellished with glitter. This is layered on organdy ribbon and torn mulberry paper. Very pretty! That glitter is great. Michelle Bloye - The Stampington & Co. egg in a holder embossed in gold, colored and embellished with glitter. Hey, I think I *need* some glitter! This is on pinkish paper layered on gold "column" type paper. This is all mounted on burgandy and has a cool ribbon glued next to the layers. Victoria Banaszak - An egg with a rose design is embossed in gold on navy cardstock and embellished at the top with a sparkly rhinestone. This is layered on mulberry. Also mounted on the mulberry are two corner designs also embossed in gold on navy cardstock. On the left and right cards edges, stops of corrugated kraft colored paper are glued. The bottom edge of the card is decoratively cut. I like all the textures! Clarice Ota - A large decorative egg is embossed in gold on vellum and colored with a rose colored marker. This is attached by 4 gold photo corners to a layer of gold crinkly paper. This is then attached to pink w/flecks cardstock. This was then packaged in a clear envelope. Very elegant looking. I got an envelope from Joyce Warner with my frogs sitting on a log stamp and I got an Easter card from Elaine Fellows. They are both on my web page at http://www.kans.com/~stamps and click on Card Gallery. Thank you to both of you! I can't tell you the feeling to see something made with my line of stamps. I would love to put more cards in my card gallery if anyone would like to have their work displayed. Glenn" Subject: RS: Got a cute card I got a really cute card the other day from SereneGirl.(Tina). It came in a tissue paper envy with holographic celestial stickers all over it. That's the first tissue paper envy I've seen. Neat! Inside was a card done on pale blue card stock with the first layer done in a flowered paper and cut with "Wave" Fiscars and edged in gold ink. On that was a piece of white CS with the House mouse stamp of the mouse with lipstick on looking in a mirror being held by another mouse. I know, because I asked, that the glassy surface on the mirror was done with Crystal Enamel. The point of the card was that SereneGirl was showing me flocked mice. One was flocked in teddy bear tan, and the other in black. We both decided that the black is too dark. Flocked mice are adorable, and so was the card! She also sent me a small sample of the teddy bear tan fun flock. I can't wait to try it, but I have to go buy a glue pen first. Thanks, Tina, I really enjoyed the card. Ok Gang, I just got a new baby puppy in the house. I need help with a name. So who would I turn to but my good friends on the list. Here is the scoop!!!!!!! The baby only weighs in at a little over 1 pound. He is a Yorkshire Terrier, one of the super tiny ones. We need a macho name that will fit his "King" size personality. The only stipulation is that the name can not end in the long "E" sound. We have an old Shelty whos name is Lady and she comes to anything that has an "E" at the end!!! I didn't say she had lots of brains!!!!! We will give this contest until Sunday night. The winner will get a stamping oriented prize. Our family will make a choice out of all the names that come in by Sunday evening. So let's get creative (keep it nice) and give this little boy a fitting name. Make sure to put Puppy in the subject line so I don't miss anyone. The winner will be notified privately to get your address and I will announce the winning name and the prize winner on Monday!! thanks for the help!!! Jenn ... when I joined the list ... I also wondered "Who is Giggles?" Now it is my happy task to introduce you to Linda Skirvin and Don Glaser. Giggles aka Linda is a long-time member of this list and a friend to everyone on it. She has fought a long battle with cancer, and has kept a wonderful attitude. Her strength, courage, and wisdom are legendary among stampers ... she's a fixture on this list ... one that we love and honour. I spoke with her by phone just last evening, and as usual found her to be bubbling with good humor and positive thoughts. You see, Linda believes that it is postive thoughts, prayer and love that have enabled her to defy medical odds. I met Giggles in person at a r/s show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, last summer. It was like touching base with someone I've known and loved my whole life. Petie? Well, I never met him in person, but I do know he's also known in some circles as "Don Glaser". They met via the list, and he wrapped his life around our little bird and ... well, it's a true-life love story. Petie ... you'll see him posting from time to time ..... like the zinger on April 1 (I owe you, Petie). I'm privileged to know Linda and Don, and I know you'll grow to love them, too. Ant Judy H. >>Can somebody tell me who Giggles is :) I've seen about a bazillion posts saying "angel flight card received from Giggles" And I have no idea who Giggles is. Who is he/she ?? Is this person a vendor ? Web addy ? And I thought I had seen references to Giggles and PeterPan together. Do they work together? Or are they just friends through the list or what ?<< This message was from "Judy Hornbrook" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I don't remember ever telling Susan that I love using foreign postage on my art but she sent me the biggest envy just full of it! I love these. Some of these are exquisite. I love the one of Princess Di and Horseface. I think my single favorite (although I love them all) is the one with a ship on it from Czechoslovakia, or is it the one with a fairy tale carriage and Queen Elizabeth on it? Hmmmm, I'd better go ponder this. Thank you sooooo much, Susan. You are just the most thoughtful person I know! Cheers!!!
