Good points, Marge! Thanks for bringing it up for discussion. I share your concerns ... very, very much so. I'm in Canada, and it seems you can't fart here without filing a report with the government - in triplicate. I read somewhere recently that there is a device that can be implanted in a baby's hand or heel, when they are just born, that will "identify" them for the rest of their life. The seemingly innocuous idea is that if a child is ever kidnapped, or goes missing, they'll be able to "track" them ... which would be a good thing if that was where it would stop. I had a pastor years ago who used to talk about the end times, the signs, etc. ... and he was fairly superstitious about the "mark of the beast" ... I wonder about all this identification stuff; the only place I'm not a number is at home. Even at church, if you have a question about your gifts and offerings (income tax time, remember?), the secretary *knows* my name (small church), but still asks me, "And.... what's your envelope number, Judy...?" Go to the bank ... I've got some money invested with them ... do they know me? No - but they sure as helk know my **number**. Call any government office with an inquiry ... they want your *number*. I would think our Social Insurance Number is about the same as your SS number ... and that by and by, we may live to regret that we ever heard of such a thing. I'm beginning to be superstitious myself. Ant Judy H. >>I wrote my concerns of government intervention into our private lives to my state legislators in Washington. I first bought the Personal one because I had read a lot of complaints about the Rotary one. Then Michaels had a sale on them, and I got the Rotary one for $19.00. Couldn't pass that up. So now I have both, and now wish I wouldn't have gotten the personal trimmer. The rotary one has many interchangeable blades and is more versatile, especially for larger papes, 12x12, etc., and the personal trimmer is limited. Sure it's a lot smaller, and more transportable, but if I would have had the rotary one earlier I wouldn't have bought so many fancy edge scissors. There was one problem with the Rotary trimmer and that is that it does not cut quite straight, but they have come out with a screw assembly that you attach to the blade to make it cut straight, and now it works superb. As an inconvenience for this problem they enclose 2 new cutting mats and also another blade for free. At least they stand behind their products and then some. Just contribuing my two cents.
