FRANCES COYLE (Ireland): Beautiful corner design placed at the lower left and right corner, green embossed on white c/s. Upper left and right corner has orange and green shamrocks cut outs glued to the top of a beautiful picture of Killary Harbour Ireland. Frances, your card made me want to be there just to feel that sunset and smell that breeze. Thank you. MARY MANGELSON (Nebraska): White c/s with image of the state with the Huskers team logo and "Go Big Red" and "Huskers" stamped around image. Card is done in Red, White and a touch of black. Inside, Mary, stamped the Scottsbluff Nat'l Monument and a slogan of "There's no place like Nebraska". How true. Great State. Great card. Thank you. MARY GALLAGHER ( Mass.): Blue c/s,with top layer of white, then listen to this, this lady fit the whole state on the front of the card. Layered on top is "Hello From Massachusetts, The Bay State" THEN there is a beautiful blue embossed skooner, (I hope that's what they call it, what do we midwesterners know about ships) THEN she has a lobster stamped on red c/s sitting in a fishermans basket, THEN there's a lighthouse, AND a real, yep I said a real shell. Can't believe Mary put all this on one card and it's beautiful, real eye candy. FRAN ROBERTSHAW (FRANCE): White c/s with 1/3rd in Blue, White, and Red. Over the blue is stamped the Eiffel Tower and some postal stamps from France. On the white there is a rooster, the word "Merde" and a cute touch Fran, french fries. The red part has writting, I believe is in Frence. Overlayed with a road map. Now when I travel (if only in my dreams) I know how to find my way around. Well done Fran, don't know how you found the time..A very SPECIAL thank you to you. This was a wonderful swap, so many wonderful talented people took part. Loved all the cards. I waited to say too much because I was afraid the interested parties might be unsubbed over the long weekend, but here goes. The swap was absolutely wonderful. Well worth waiting for, and I appreciate so much the time put into these wonderful cards. Especially to the 4 that made up for those who had dropped, and to Fran and Cindy for all their work putting things together and for doing several extra sets themselves. I've been sick the last few days, and haven't been doing much, but while laying around, I put my cards in an album. Took a 3 ring binder, page protector sheet things from an office supply, and black construction paper. I just used double stick tape to tape the 'card' down, wrote with a white correction pen what state (or whatever) it was representing, and put them alphabetically into my album. It is nice to have this done NOW, instead of waiting till they sat around for a while, and had been in and out of the box several times. We were supposed to describe 4 of the cards, to make sure everyone gets their card described. Sue Bartley- Arizona- the outside is a copper pot, indian design, on black paper, attached to the card with handmade photo corners. Aren't those fun to do. Inside she has a postoid greetings from Arizona, with some indian designs in the background. Lil' Inker-Hawaii- this is a cute card!! Several images depicting Hawaii with a little boy on the center front. Opens up to reveal a pop up flower, and more Hawaii images. I like this because it is a different style, but is easy enough, just about anyone could do. Maybe even me!! I did get several new ideas (some even with stamps I have) Rhonda Rodriguez, the Rubber Mouse (right?)-Wisconsin-I was looking through this for a mouse, no such luck Us mice have to stick together!!. She made a tri-fold travel brochure. Front has Wisconsin along one side with several hearts, and postoids about Wis. Inside, There is a chunk of swiss cheese, run through a corrugator, above it says, 'just another cheese-head', and a packer helmet and name cut from FABRIC down below. Think of all the fabric used to make 50 cards. On the facing side of the 'inside' is a Wisconsin label, and running diagonally down the card it says "I love Wisconsin" Wonderful card Rhonda. I wish I hadn't had my mind stuck on CARD, this is a great idea (although I had the idea for my card right away) my favorite card was done by Chris Hulseberg, and she did Colorado. The outside had a beautifully stamped and colored image of Rocky Mountain Columbine, the state flower. Inside she has a short description of columbine, talking about the different varieties. It was so special. I'm from CO, and have a Mom and brother that still live there. We haven't been there for almost 10 yrs, and its not just the people, but the dirt they walk on, and the air they breathe that I miss. I lived for 20 yrs in site of the mountains, and have hardly seen them in the last 20. I also tried to grow columbine from seed one year, so it was fun reading what she had to say. Thanks Chris, for making me so homesick!!! Sob, Sob!!! I do thank everyone for such a fun swap. It wouldn't have been the same without one of you!!! It comes in liquid and powder form. It's used by artists to mix paint. When it's referred to here on list, it most often means the poster is mixing it with the powdered mica known as Pearl-EX or the brand I carry, Powdered Pearls. You mix your mica dust with a small amount of the gum arabic (a slightly off white powder in it's solid form) add a few drops of water and the mica dust becomes a workable, flowable watercolor type paint. The gum arabic acts as a binder in this instance, it binds the paint to the paper. Gum arabic also can thicken paints depending on how much you use. A lot and your paint..either mica dust or powdered water colors..becomes thick and viscous, less and the paint has less body. It can be rather expensive when you buy it, but it does last fairly well. On dark plumb card stock, folded across the top. Top flap has 3 pieces of wallpaper layered with a flower cut out and colored pasted on top. Flap is cut 1/2 way down the card with decorative edgers and there is a strip of wallpaper across the bottom inside the card that shows. Open the flap and on inside of card above the wallpaper strip is a piece of paper with Thinking of You stamped and happy b- day message. All in a matching wallpaper envy! Really neat! Thanks Vickie!
