I was able to reach my husband this morning, at the dialysis unit at Vanderbilt. His family's home did suffer some damage, but no gaping holes or major worries. Many trees down, mainly causing damage to the roof, chimney, and gagage. A wondeful person from the Baptist Hospital, came over and cut up the large pieces of trees, to enable them to get around their outside area. The power was restored this morning, and phones may be on by tonight! Now I can get on to the business of helping my 7 year old grandaughter, celebrate her birthday today! Got some cool stuff! Pin swap Judy Lee ~ A pretty little girl and her doll. She has a ribbon tied on her dress and a feather in her hat. So cute! Unknown ~ A nice carousel horse all painted and glittery. He has sparkly paper glued to his mane to make it flow. (Which the post office has squashed, of course.) This is very pretty! Stampin' at Midnite ~ A cool Elvis wearing a pink jumpsuit and a Hawaiian lei. Then he has a key attached to his hand and a sign hanging from his belt that says "Talk to Elvis" and it has a 900 number to call. Hee hee! I love this! Brenda Volpe ~ Our hostess did a cool little paneling (?) sample, (like from Home Depot) on which she stamped and embossed a leaf. Then she punched a hole and tied on a ribbon with some beads. Nice! Unknown ~ Another cute one! A bear on Paperclay that is colored in with watercolors (?) and then has a ribbon with beads tied to him. I wish I could get Paperclay to look like this! Unknown ~ A little Halloween creation with cardstock and Paperclay and even a ghost charm. Too cute! Thanks for all the great ideas, ladies! I am glad that all of you left the pin backs off, as I want to make magnets out of some of them. And then I'll put them up on the file cabinet so I can see your work while I talk to you on the computer. =) Sunflower swap tansyflwr@hotmail.com ~ She did a cute little museum sunflower embossed in green and then colored in. This is placed on beige cs and then onto a green card. So pretty! Gloria ~ She embossed a big sunflower in gold and colored it in, then cut it out with the "sunflower" scissors from Fiskars. And she placed this on a background done with the flower Wordprint from Hero Arts. This background is also cut with the sunflower scissors and then placed onto a mustard colored cs. Cute! Eva Koyama ~ Another cute card by Eva! (I am adding to my collection of Eva cards.) She stamped a sunflower and colored it in. Then below that is a saying, "Friendship blooms in loving hearts". These are both placed on orange cs and then onto a beige cs. I like the way the orange makes it POP! Mary Garvey ~ She stamped a sunflower frame on white cs and colored it in. Then inside the frame is "Especially for You". This is placed on yellow cs. Then that is all placed on dark green cs. Very elegant! Tracy ~ Our hostess outdid herself! She stamped, on white cs, a quarter of a sunflower in a frame. Then she foiled the frame and added little beads to the center of the flower. That was cut out with the "stamp" scissors from Fiskars, placed onto dark beige cs, then onto light beige. And she tied raffia to the edge of the card. Nice job, Tracy! Patti Murphy ~ Wow! Patti stamped and embossed a garden girl, colored her, cut her out, then stamped her watering can and a piece of her dress again to mount them on top for a 3-d effect. Oh, and I just felt her dress and the dots pop out (maybe they are liquid applique?) so you can feel them. OK, then she stamped and embossed a tall sunflower, colored it and cut it out. Then she stamped and embossed green grass on the bottom of the card! What a great piece of artwork! Ladies, thanks so much! I love sunflowers and these are all a great inspiration to me! Also, thanks to Tracy and Brenda for hosting these swaps! =) Shel This message was from MBillett - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. It is in full color, illustrated with many of Dee's own techniques. Of course, she includes lots of "how to's" in her own delightful style! The book retails for $24.95, and I will sell this to the FIRST person (based on the time stamp on the e-mails I get) who requests it for 45% off--$13.75. The book will be sent priority mail, which cost $3.00. It's a gorgeous book! Wish I had more of them! (Please put SARA in the subject line.) Yet, it's not difficult to figure out; e + i = i (as in german names);i + e = e. Doesn't matter how acrefule I am to spell the name ove the phone, when I get whatever, it's always mispelled (ie instead of ei). >Don't shop > much at Safeway anymore because of there half-hearted attempt to call me > by name- Now, that doesn't bother me, because, that's the european form, which I still consider more polite. A store clerk I've never seen before should call me Mrs. Steig, as we are not on familiar terms. Now, imagine being asked your name over the phone, and trying to avoid going into the usual routine "Pasqual, Paskale,..", you say Mrs. Steig, and then you get mail addressed to "Missy Steig". Drives me crazy! And at > restaurants, I give them a totally different name to maim- Bwana. Now, that's a good one! I have been asked my name over the phone, and said "Gary" (my husband's name; it's obviously easier to spell than Pascale)... - -- Pascale Steig GRAPHIC SAVAGE Portland, OR savage@aracnet.com This message was from Pascale Steig - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
