My answer? Perhaps you aren't reading the responses to the young person who is studying this group. When asked what they don't like, most reply the flame wars. Diane, there are a number of people here that should be ashamed of their childish and mean spirited behavior. The viciousness of some list members is not a new topic and it isn't even my topic. I just agree very strongly. Unless I truly am superior to you, I need to overlook your faults. Are you truly superior to Toni? Is that your message? A woman sent a file to her husband so he could print it out and things went badly. (We can debate common law relationships at another time but this one has existed for 15 years. It is the functional equivalent to marriage). Her mistake was in addressing the file. I see no reason she couldn't ask her husband to print a file for her and sending it be email rather than putting it on a disk was the most efficient way to do it. So when you say some people can't turn a blind eye on injustice, I agree. Trashing this person is an injustice. Which ovens are you smelling here, Diane? You aren't implying that this was an evil act to cause wide spread injury, are you? It is insensitive in the extreme to make such a comparison. Isn't Ruth, Toni's mother, the person who sells the Hebrew images? Most interesting subject line there. A journal, I was just looking at them Monday, but didn't buy it, I need a new one, how did you ever know? I especially love the note on the first page in calligraphy, To my dear Secret Stamper Debbie with a floral heart stamped in rainbow colors, below is written A journal for fun, for play, for dreams... Your SS. You have been so thoughtful! Then there is a sheet of different postoids, I love and collect them and there are ones I don't have, there again, a neat idea. A pair of Fiskars stamp edgers, great for the postoids. A stipple brush and a splatter brush, is this what you meant by new background ideas? I can hardly wait to play with these. Then two Gelly Roll pens, pink and in my favorite color, purple. I love these pens and believe it or not I don't have these two colors. Then last but not least were 5 stackable containers with lids, these will definitely be handy in the stamp room. Everything was wrapped in beautiful floral tissue paper, thanks for making this such a special package. Boy did everyone do great on these cards!!! I received cards from: Sara (our talented hostess): A gold-embossed butterfly on light pinkcardstock. This was layered onto a piece of gold cardstock, then placed onto a purple postcard. I would never have thought to use this color combination, but the results were lovely!!! Jeanne Nelson: Her card was a light blue print background (stamped onto the card), then she has a large pansy & a butterfly layered onto the cardstock. She added a light blue ribbon bow for embellishment. Karen Glover: Karen took a yellow postcard and layered onto it a piece of gingham & floral wallpaper cut out with decorative edged scissors and a sun punched out in the wallpaper allowing the yellow card to show through. Onto this she had some cute baby ducklings clipped from a magazine and a green frog which she had embossed in gold. Mary Garvey: This card is several layers. On a yellow card she layered red cardstock, then a black. In the middle of the black she has an oval. At first glance it loos like transparent or parchment, but it isn't. Still trying to figure out how she got that effect. In the middle of the oval is a beautiful butterfly with a glossy coat (thick clear EP?). The butterfly is outlined in black and has red, orange & yellow colored wings. Very beautiful! Susan Swidryl:This card is awesome! She used purple cardstock and layered a lighter shade (lilac) onto it. On the lilac paper she hadstamped in purple 2 large butterflies. They are colored with several colors of glitter. She cut the card so the card front is about 3/8" smaller than the back on the opening edge. Doing this, she cut around the bottom of one of the butterfly's wings. She also trimmed the lilac colored paper so than there was a small border of the purple cardstock showing through. Heather (heather385@juno.com): For her card, Heather used white cardstock. She punched a heart into the top left and bottom right corners on the card front. Going in a diagonal from top right corner to bottom left corner, she placed a piece of corrugated lilac paper. Next laer was a piece of white cardstock with a butterfly on a flower. She coloered the butterfly a pretty yellow. She cut out the stamped piece with deckle edged scissors and drew a border around the edge of it with a peach colored marker. She used the same scissors and peach marker to make a decorative edge on the opening side of the card front. Inserted into the card was the same lilac paper she used on the card front. Leona C.: this card was beautiful. The base was black cardstock. The front lad a layer of yellow speckled paper onto which she stamped several butterflys & "Birthday Wishes". Then she layered on 3 more butterflies. She used a monarch butterfly for the card and it reminded me of the monarch butterfly migration we have through here each year. These seemed to be taking off in flight off the page! Michelle Oakley: This card is very easy to do, but very beautiful!!! She took a very pale blue cardstock for the base. Then added on the front a sheet of note paper with a country green border and a small bird nest in the grass in the lower right corner of the paper. In the center of the note paper she added a green embossed butterfly she had stamped on pale blue cardstock. Sandy (Rustydoc): Sandy's card had a pale pink base with the opening edge cut with decorative edge scissors (victorian edge, I think). Onto this she layered white cardstock cut with the same decor. edge. On this layer, she had stamped a large beautiful rose colored butterfly with a textured green background. She edged the layer with a dark green marker and then embellished with alittle gold glitter. Very beautiful! Stephanie Geddies: Her card was with a deep purple cardstock. Onto thiss, she placed 2 silver embossed butterflies that she had colored in with markers. Great color combination! I hadn't thought of putting the dark purple with silver like that. But I enjoy the effect of the 2 together. Vickie Lieske & Debra Wunderly: Both names are on the card, so not sure if both worked on it, or what. I love the butterfly stamp used on this card. It is a very simpe image with the butterfly made with what looks like comma strokes. She stamped these using various rainbow ink pads (or several different combinations of hte same ink pad) on white cardstock. Also in the card center was stamped "Thinking of you". The top right corner of the card front was cut in a very flowing decorative manner. The butterflyies on the card were embellished with glitter and had a trail of the same glitter flowing behind them as to show their flight path. Very beautiful card. And definately a butterfly stamp I need to add to my collection! Thank you to everyone who participated and made this swap so much fun. Also a big thank yo to Sara for hostessing!!! Ok.. then there's some neat confetti.. it has blue moons and silver stars and gold suns! there's a sack of 3 *big* um's.. a big sun, a big moon, and a compass rose. I'ma have some fun with these! then there's a jar of metallic medley EP, which is very sparkley and interesting looking, a jar of cobalt blue EP, which may well fast become my favorite, I been wantin' plain no glittery dark blue ep for a long time!!! and there's a jar of orange stuff. heh.. it doesn't say what it is, but I *think* this is ep too! it looks like sorta like tang. it doesn't smell like tang. it dosn't smell like EP either, but that's what I'm gonna call it, at least until first time I hot it up and see what it does.. rofl! it's a way cool color too, I called it orange and it is kind of orangeish, but not like you'd think of when you say something's orange.. ya know.. it's sorta the color of that buttery salt stuff that used to come with a sack of popcorn.. heh.. sorta smells like that too, actually, only not really. I think I'll try it out on a popcorn card first! it's kind of new schoolbus colored. pretty cool! betcha this big sun on navy cardstock would look pretty sunny with this EP! isn't that a pile of cool stuff? aren't I a way lucky gal to have such a wonderous secretgal of my very own?? well.. heh.. I'm not quite done!! There was *also* one of those encore metallic inkpads in there! a blue one! secret gal, I been wantin' one of these too, and that's the color I'd have picked to start with.. I'm so jazzed!!! and at the bottom (heh.. or the top, I coulda opened it upside down ya know..) there was bunch of neat tissue with gold stars on. I tell ya, I'm some kind of lookin' forward to play day!! Thank you so much.. really brightened my day!!! anno This message was from "anno" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Alot of thought went into this package and I know you've been reading my posts cause not only did I get Paperclay and Shrink Plastic but I got pin backs for convention pins and samples of some pins, plus a envelope packed full of unmounted stamps already trimmed and on loop for HALOS from Buffalo Stampede. How did you know I've been looking at her stamps trying to decide which ones I wanted. In addition, there was a fantastic Easter Card with the cutest little Easter bunny on it, a blowup bunny rabbit which my grandson Mason quickly confiscated or should I say my daughter his mom confiscated, eggs filled with gummy candy and a gummy watch. I am totally impressed. Thank you so much for this wonderful package. Love and Hugs, Letty This message was from "L. I got a really bumpy package yesterday, and inside is two pair of Fiscars scissors, one is a corner edger and the other is zig zaggy. It was so nice and thoughtful of her. I went around cutting cool corners on everything. Speaking of scissors. I have a pair of deckle scissors that chew up the cardstock about halfway through. I emailed Fiscars and they are sending me a new pair. That is great.
