They were so cute that we made four of them. However, I think I used them a bit differently. After the cs had been cut out, I ironed freezer paper on the back so the basket would be waterproof. I then took a decorative paper trimmer scissor and cut all the edges. I then folded the basket according to Phil's instructions and stamped a large violet (Phil's stamp, of course) on the three triangles. I folded the basket into the triangle, but at the top of each triangle, I cut off about 3/4 of an inch and then hold punched it. This gave me a bigger opening at the top. I then put ribbon through the holes. I went out into the garden and picked violets and wrapped the stems in wet paper toweling and put a piece of saran wrap around toweling I stuck violets into center of basket top and tightened up the ribbon and I had a beautiful May flower basket!! I gave them to four of my friends and they loved them. Thank you Phil. Messages like this--and behavior like this--makes me want to scream at the top of my lungs until I'm hoarse. You do not know what a muddle you are creating for future art collectors and historians not to mention the other stampers to whom you send your cards. Those little scraps of paper sometimes come off, you know, (often come off. almost always!!) And maybe you don't think your cards are art or that history will be interested, but neither did your ancestors who made quilts and cave drawings. Personal expression and recording of the world as we know it--IS art! The biggest reason this is upsetting is that this behavior indicates to me that you are not taking yourself seriously as an artist and/or that you do not have enough confidence in your work to want your name associated with it permanently. I'm sorry about your lack of security and self-worth, and besides this has a deleterious effect on rubber art-stamping as a genre. Until we take ourselves seriously as artists, no one else will either. Someone mentioned the lack of a gallery where rubber stamp art was displayed and could be purchased: that would be wonderful, but it won't happen until we take ourselves seriously as artists. Was it Julie Block or some one else who said to put "artist" on our address cards... to claim the value of our creative endeavors.... But there are other things going on here, too. When you buy a commercial card to send to someone, it has the creator's name on the back: sometimes that's just "Hallmark" (if you care enough, etc) and sometimes it's the name of the artist, too, like Marjin Best. But credit is given to someone or some company. So, putting your name or other identification on a RAK or exchange or swap card or other project will not keep other stampers from "re-using" it. In fact, it makes it easier for some people to reuse because it makes the card look more professional (some people still have prejudices about home-made, believe it or not; if not the stamper, then the recipient). Plus, a person of integrity who resends a card from another stamper will have to take the time to put that creator's name on the card--or not use it because the little scrap of paper has disappeared. (vbg) (And just remember this: if you send me a magnificent card without your name on it and I sell it to Hallmark for a large sum or money--start a whole line, maybe--you will not get a cent! And will have no legal recourse at all!) hee hee This is just my humble opinion, of course... For me, it would depend on how long I had to make the invitations. If I had 2 or 3 months, that is only about 15 cards a day. For me, that would be feasible....and @ $5 each..I would think it is a good offer. Plus, after you establish your design and make the first 20 or 30 invitations, you will have an established pattern and rythym....so should be profitable albeit boring after the 50th one. For $4000, I can be bored for a few hours each day! I have been bored for a lot longer for far less! Howdy all

Received the Christian Encouragement Swap - WOW - Great = Stuff!

Laura Cowan - a mini book with a wire spiral with a brayered front = cover=20 with a bible verse.  The pages inside have one-line encouragements = - - now I=20 really have to try to make one of these - loved it!

Sharon Sebg@aol.com - a = beautiful=20 bookmark with "You are prescious in His sight."  Nice = Hibiscus!=20 (My mom tried to steal this one!)

Ginny (crzy2stmp@aol.com) - this is one = of those=20 "wow" cards.  Solid images of two elephants and an = African tree=20 stamped on black on natural brown paper.  The verse Stand still, = and=20 consider the wondrous works of God is also stamped in black.  Then = the sky=20 is sponged or chalked? to make it look like a sunset.  Very = beautiful -=20 another "I have to try that" card.

Sally Bergeson - a bookmark of = medium=20 brown paper.  The edges were masked so it looks like there's a = frame. =20 There are several antique-type images (bible, music, key, verses, hand, = etc.)=20 stamped in brown ink.  Then several colors are sponged for the=20 background.  Then a bible verse is embossed in gold in the center - = I love=20 the look of this - another technique I have to try!

Dolores - to start with, she = used one=20 DeNami dove stamped on vellum then cut out and glittered around the = image. =20 These are mounted on what I call cloud paper with their wings lifted up = with=20 "The Lord is with you wherever you go" stamped on black.  = There=20 is a beautiful white ribbon - oh yeah, the card stock is cream.  = The inside=20 is lined in the cloud paper with another DeNami dove and "Jesus is = the wind=20 beneath my wings" stamped in black.  Definitely an OOOH, AAAAH = card -=20 beautiful!

Thanks everyone - loved this = swap. =20 BTW - I show my swap cards to everyone I see for at least two weeks = after I=20 receive them!  The classes I teach are so = envious!

You could do an assembly line-type of thing. I can't imagine making 800 of one thing, though! I can hardly make the 5 or 6 to enter the swaps without cringing! But the $$$ is useful ... hmmm... let's see what you could buy with $4,000 ... more stamps? :) Good luck and I'll be interested to hear what you decide. It is interesting that a week after someone accidently sent a list of addresses to the entire list and another of the recurring flame wars broke out that this thread is still alive. As you can note from the subject line, it eventually turned from being a flame against the person who made the error to the person who was asking for calm. There are a good number of people on this list that have expressed a strong dislike for the antagonism and fighting, but who have no other stamping list to go to. Rubbertown is a great list, but the full range of topics and conversations are frowned on. It isn't the same sense of community. Anyone who would like to see a list just like this but without the bickering, join me on Rubber Stamping Together! The list is brand-spanking new, so we can collectively make it what we want. The difference will be in the way flames and attacks are handled. If someone flames another, that person will be privately reminded of the Flame-Free policy. If the person persists, s/he will be put in a no-post status which will allow the person to read the list but not partiicipate. Continued abuse will result in the person being unsubbed. The signup is at . It's ready to go right now. Hi Kathie! My friend Julia Sidebottom has recently made wedding invitations for 2 weddings.. She consulted with the bride and groom, they designed the stamps and had them made. MAKE SURE that bride and groom PROOF READ *EVERYTHING* more than one time before stamps are made (if you go that route). I think I would have a written contract outlining everything expected of all involved, including due dates for delivery, payment,(how much and when ..perhaps a deposit at the beginning, a payment halfway through and a final payment when finsihed and delivered to the bride) who adresses and mails, proof reading , ( they proof and approve the design and it is sent off..) Proof the stamp(s)(both you and bride and groom) when they are returned BEFORE you begin stamping. When bride/groom approve the stamp, THEY are then responsible for any errors, not you. (Julia had this problem where the couple didn't want to pay because of a spelling mistake AFTER they approved the stamps, and wanted her to eat the cost of doing everything all over again). Who pays for materials and anything else you can think of. Just put it in writing so there are no misunderstandings! It sounds like a MARVELOUS opportunity..a lot of work, but also much fun!
