Plus ya had to scroll down through all the forwarding scripts to get to the bottom. i thought your poem was wonderful :) I think it just came right about the time the Cyberhug discussion was started..... I understood it as you did, that someone was obliterating the artist's name and replacing it with their own. Something I DO NOT approve of. But it has been made clear to me that the question was about sending on a card (possibly blank inside) that the person had recieved in a swap maybe. The artist's name was left as is, the card was just sent along to someone who would enjoy it and share in the art. This, on the other hand, is something of which I totally approve. Send on my artwork if you like it, let others enjoy it if you think they would. That's the point of it after all, isn't it? Just be sure my name remains as the artist And that's what's been happening with so many people's collections of swap cards. When the collection gets too big to manage, we take out those very special and meaningful cards, and send off the rest to a newbie so he or she can in turn be inspired and awed by the artistry on this list. Not a goshdarn thing wrong with that! I do believe that if we as a little stamping community don't start being a little nicer to each other, we will lose members. If you don't like your neighbors, it's tough to pack up and move. But with cyber-neighbors, it's a lot easier to "pack up and go" if there's greener pastures someplace else. I've finally finished my freelance project (well, the bulk of it anyway) that has been going on since last fall...and I have time to stamp! So, I've spent the last couple of days doing GAPE cards to send in exchange for the beautiful ones I've received. The last one-for-one is finished, sealed, and ready for the postman, so now I can take the time to sit down and acknowledge the delights that have filled my mailbox. By the way, each of you is getting a one-on-one...I'm raiding my stash of garden-related stamps to come up with something individual for everyone. From Sandra Luck - a beautiful collage card on tan cardstock with ovely textured and patterned papers in tan and black, and a print of what looks like a maidenhair fern on top. I love collage cards--what an auspicious beginning for this terrific exchange. Thank you, Sandra, for the mystery seeds. I had just finished planting our annual bed, but I'll find room for this! (Assuming it's flowers and not veggies?) From Barbara Shuck - the PSX sunflower botannical simply but elegantly embossed in red-brown and only the petals delicately colored in yellow. I love the two-tone look of the card. I'm always tempted to go overboard in my coloring--you've reminded me that simple can be so effective. Thank you for the great day wish. From Sandy Hampson - a vase of beautiful bell-like flowers embossed in gold and delicately colored, on vellum mounted to cardstock. It's a beautiful effect, with a lovely spring flowers message inside. You asked what's blooming in our garden? Everything! My English roses are about to explode in bloom; the Japanese Iris came up gorgeous, and all the trees are "moving"--tips green and unfurling with new growth. We have petunias, foxglove, delphinium, geraniums, cosmos, phlox, lavender, daylilies, anemones, dianthus...and glads and dahlias on their way. In the veggie garden we have tomatoes, artichokes and lettuces; the corn will probably go in next week. Lots of herbs. We just planted blueberry bushes too! And the peaches and apples are growing nicely. Whew. Can you tell I love our garden? From Sue Swidryk - a lovely daisy-type plant embossed in white (!) (cool effect) and nicely colored and shaded on vellum over lavender cardstock. A completely different look than Sandy's card, but just as beautiful. I love the white-on-vellum effect. I am learning so much. A nicely decorated envelope, too. From Darlene Sybert - I was going ga-ga in awe over your gorgeous envelope, aghast at all the hours you'd put into handcoloring all those images--when I opened it and realized you'd made it out of wallpaper. Wow! And what a fun card. A small segment of the (Stampington?) garden word stamp in green on natural brown cardstock, layered over a rectangle of matching green cardstock, and all layered over a natural brown card. But all this is backgrouind to two tiny hand-stamped seed packets with real seeds in them! I love layering, and you've done it to beautiful effect here. Thank you not only for the seeds...which will go into the garden if I can gather them all up...but for starting this lovely exchange. From Carol Brown - a gorgeous 3-D accordion card made from a set of garden/flower cards I've had for years but never did anything half so nice with! The sentiment inside is "Friendship is a well-tended garden." That is so true. Thank you for this lovely path into the garden of your friendship. From Linda Skirvin - I had to laugh when I got your card, Giggles, because that garden pail/flowers/tools stamp is one I just bought for use in this exchange! (And one of you will get it, though I gave it quite a different treatment.) I love the way you colored it every better than the way I did it. Beautiful daisy border effect, with raised glossy centers for the daisies. How did you do that? Thank you all for bringing such fun into my life. I look forward to a long and delightful exchange again...and again...and again. But maybe what's annoying other is the same that annoys me; people taking pot shots at this list. Ok, so its not for everybody, but those of us it *is* for feel rather protective of it and of our small-town atmosphere. So we (you *know* I do!) get kinda defensive about it. I, being the glutton I am, would join up too but with being on 5 good sized lists (the X-files one alone runs neck and neck with this one as to # of posts per day)plus several small others, I have to sleep sometime! But , if you find it a good list that has tips and info and ideas we may not have heard of here, please share. (though I suspect you would have without my asking anyway ) I'd also be curious as to the daily volume of the list. Maybe I *could* fit in one more small one . . . .
