In a message dated 5/1/98 9:47:50 PM Central Daylight Time, valeriep@northernnet.com writes: << I have come to know that I will Never, Ever have a mammogram! >> Valerie, Valerie! Please say that you're only kidding! Actually, I would far rather have a mammogram than a PAP smear! The e-mail was only a joke...which you probably know but I felt I had to write just in case. Would hate for someone to bypass a potentially life saving test because they got scared off by a silly old internet joke. I think the women who hate them the worst are those with the very fully endowed bosoms...most small boobed women (like myself, for example) don't have that much trouble. In fact, I've had two and for me, it's really not a big deal. Just don't have it done in that week or so before the menstrual cycle when you're feeling kinda ouchy anyway. Best to do it after your period. The reason large breasted women have more trouble is because the machine needs to "flatten" out the breast in order to get a good image (kinda like stamping!) and with all that excess breast tissue it's harder to do. (is this poetic justice for those average to small chested women among us?) I did know one gal who was so flat chested she was practically nipple only...they did have trouble getting a good scan on her too since her nipple kept slipping off the platform! Poor thing! But they can even do mammograms on men so don't give up on an important health screening test...especially if you have any family history of breast cancer. So for anyone who isn't going to a Dr because of a simple test that was performed at home then you had better listen to Serene girl You may have a damaged nerve in your finger and the symptoms would cause wrist pain like hers did. Dorothy Becknell sent me a really neat card. Navy blue cardstock with a decorative edge. On this she has placed deckle edged and crimped wallpaper. On top of this is a victorian birdhouse in light blue partially colored. At the bottom of the card is a cut out heart that says Home is where the Heart is. Dorothy - thank you so much Stampin' Hugs Val This message was from Val Kildaw - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
