(I have decided that rubberstamping is saving me money, because now I go home for lunch just so I can check my mailbox.....) Opened up mail box. Saw an envelope in there, and thought... Coooool. I got rubberstamping mail. Then I though.... Whoa, this person's handwriting looks JUST like mine. Weird. THEN I thought... this is REALLY weird... they decorate an envelope JUST like I do.... with little stampy things just like MY little stampy things. REALLY STRANGE. THEN I realized, after bopping myself on the head..... Wait, that's MY handwriting. (It was a self-addressed label). AND that's MY envelope, cleverly recycled to hold swap cards....... LOLOLOL... I was laughing so hard in the front yard. I sure hope all my neighbors go to work during the day so they didn't observe that.... I got beautiful cards in this swap~! I'm sure my descriptions won't do them justice..... Unknown: a little gift tag sized card of black linen with a gold embossed sun/moon image. I know that stamp! I have that stamp! It had, I think, gold pearl-X rubbed on it. Is that what you used? How did you get it on there so neatly? I still make a mess with that stuff. Get it on there too thick, and need more practice.... Becci Thomas: This was a neat card! opposite corners of the card were rounded. I have never thought of doing that, and I like it! A gold embossed sun is layered on some blue handmade paper, and then there are corrugated strips of brown underneath that. The background is bi-colored, navy cardstock, with white stars embossed with some gold glittery stuff, and then light blue on the top. Pretty!! Kim Albert: Our wonderful hostess :) (And THANK you for the charm!!! I love those!!) This was a darling card! A funny cat on the front of white glossy cardstock that looks like a ::::looking around and whispering:::: blitzer was used, with a sun, and a mouse. Who makes these stamps? I neeeeeed em. Inside the card, Kim stamped in rainbow ink "It's great to have you as a friend" Then a tiny cat and mouse are sitting side by side staring at the moon. I neeeeeeeed that one, too :) Kim colored these in with markers. My coloring is NEVER this pretty..... I gotta practice. Kathy Walunas used purple cardstock for the base of her card. She then layered two pieces of paper, cut with deckle edges. Now this first layer, on white cardstock, I need to know how she did this. It's got these orange and magenta speckles on it. Then it's embossed. But it feels kinda, I dunno.... not smooth. How did you do this?? I like it! The second piece, navy, has little silver dots on it, and tiny pieces of glitter. Then she stamped a Sun and Moon, colored them, and put them on top of the layers. Plus they are raised off the card by foam tape. Nice job! Now, don't get me wrong. I loved all these cards. But I was totally in awe of Karen Stone's card. I have been looking at it and looking at it, and looking at it. First of all, it was in an envelope that she had, I think, used some sort of celestial Rollograph on. She rolled it diagonally over the entire envelope, covering the whole front of it in pattern. I never would have thought to do that. I haven't bought any of those rollographs, because, frankly, I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to DO with them other than make borders. Now I have to have them all. (Vendors beware). Then, her card.... There is no way for me to describe this. She started with this marbled kinda cardstock. but, it has some sort of blueish kinda tint in places that obviously SHE put on there. there's stars embossed in gold and sparkly. The front has a gorgeous sun stamped and embossed. But there's some yellow color behind it. HOW did you do this??? And the sun is barely colored in, but it is so subtle, and so pretty. The card front is folded back, and the sun is cut out on one side. (See, I told you I wasn't going to be able to describe this one). Inside, she has stamped a moon which sits directly behind the Sun on the front. The moon is embossed in silver, and I *think* she colored it in with watercolors. There are more stars.... embossed in silver.... and sitting on top of much darker blue splotches. Much more suggestive of night. Karen, PLEASE tell us how you did this card. It is incredibly artistic...... Thank you Kim, and thanks everyone! This was my second swap, and I got some wonderful ideas. I'm gonna go do some more practicing :) Serene This message was from SereneGirl - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Can anyone recommend a desktop publisher? I would like to hire someone to write/create a web page/web site for me. I am realizing that I have many wonderful ideas but so little knowledge of html and computer "stuff" that it would be much more convenient and less aggravating to hire a professional! LOL Thanks in advance! HoosierStmpr This message was from "KCHaga" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. That lady will *chat* your ear off! Now I know just what gets her goat and her favorite color of glitter that landed on the carpet! Seriously though, she is having difficulty with her cold and cough and could only *chat* for an hour. BTW- Petie, how much rubber are you gonna be able to carry after that cast comes off? I heard it was somewhere around 100 pounds!
