(Long) Dear SS, I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! Sheesh, you just have to stop spoiling me so much! This package is way too awesome! We've had a substitute mailman for over a week now and haven't been getting our mail until like 6-7PM!! Today we were lucky and got it at 3PM!! He comes to the door and has the 2 packages banded together and says, "I think these 2 go together because this one says 1 of 2 and this one says 2 of 2!" And I said, "DUH, ya think?" No, not really, I didn't say that!! LOL - I was just very polite and said "Thank-you very much!" Anyhow, as usual, package #1 has everything wrapped so pretty in either a really cool, flowered tissue paper that is predominantly blue or a way cool blue mylar paper! Very pretty! The first thing I open is a set of Yarka watercolors! Yipee . . . is my SS really gonna give me the watercolor lessons I've been begging for????? Next is a National Stampagraphic license plate holder that has "I Stamp. Therefore I Am." Cool, it matches my stamp you gave me!! I'm gonna have to stamp up a license plate to go into it and have it laminated! Next is a watercolor brush . . . oh, now my hopes are really up!!! Then a pad of Strathmore watercolor paper. Me thinks it's really gonna happen!! Then comes a silver hybrid pen!! Yes, yes, yes!! I've been wanting of these for so long!!! Next is a new D.J. Inkers catalog with way too many cute ones I have to have!! A package of tan flecked bookmarks! I love making bookmarks! Then a black Marvy Matchables inkpad. My very favorite inkpads! Next are 3 sponge daubers!! I've wanted these, too!! Then 5 really cool dark blue sheets of notecard size cardstock!! Underneath these is a sheet of this same blue paper with 4 rows of different colored interference paint on it . . . gold, red, green, & blue! No way, I'm thinking! She didn't!! Well, yes her did!!! Here's the 4 bottles of interference paint!!!! I have never even seen anything done with this and WOW is it beautiful and I can't wait to try it!!!! Then there's a stack of cards that are just wonderful! The one with the border done in all the interference paints is gorgeous!! The other 3 are just way too cute!! The little bear with the hat, the sunflowers in the clay pot, and the little bunny popping his head out of the watering can . . . who makes these stamps?? Please! Then a really nice pencil sharpener! I needed one so bad!!! Next a stack of glossy red & green notecard sized cardstock!! Perfect! Then a stack of black glossy cardstock!!! Yippee!! Next is the Penny Black Friendship stamp . . . sniffle, sniffle. Had to get the kleenex when I opened that one!! And last, but certainly not least in package 1 is the coolest book!! Watercolor for the Artistically Undiscovered!! It is an excellent hands-on book that it just too, too wonderfully perfect!! It is even 100% Klutz certified! I am going to really enjoy working in this and am going to start tonight!!! Inside was a practice card with a little bear holding a bouquet of flowers that is another too cute one!! Who makes that one, also??? Also, mixed in this package were all kinds of pamplets all about different places to visit in Washington! Trying to bribe us????? GREAT addition to the package!! Package #2 contained 2 Hero Arts Christmas stamps that I can cross off my wish list!! The skinny snowman and skinny Santa!! And a beautiful Rubber Stampede Partridge in a Pear Tree stamp!! Love all of them!!! Well, my friend, I don't know what to say!!! Thanks just doesn't seem quite good enough! Do you want my firstborn?? On second thought, she's my onlyborn! Oh well, do you want her anyway??? LOL!!! Can't have Tyler, though!! Seriously . . . you have been way too generous once again!! I treasure everything you send to me, but I treasure our friendship even more!!! Take good care and please send big hugs to those 2 cute sons of yours!! What great cards I received! Thanks. Karla Williams (finally I got one of your cards) Nice collage on green cardstock, layered with a terra cotta colored paper that is embossed in copper, torn on edges, layered with silk leaves and topped with a gecco embossed in copper on green cardstock. The green cardstock has been burnished with copper rub on and metal pieces are glued around the edges. The inside is a tan card stock. Nice card. Her label is very expressive: This is a handmade card. It was created as an expression of creativity. In receiving this card, my hope is that it will help stimulate some of your creativity. In this venture, we are making the world a little more beautiful, at the very least, more creative. Shirley Ginn What a professional looking card. Very unusual cardstock - - I believe she used a roller hieroglyphic stamp from clearsnap. I like it. Card is folded in the middle with the mask mounted on the right. Reminds me of a fort, where the door open out. I know I am not doing this card justice. But it is kewwwwwllllll. Inside she has stamped some native women and handprints. Alpha Becky has a very interesting collage card. black cardstock embossed in silver and copper hieroglyphics three used postage stamps that are appropriately tribal in nature, red and gold mulberry paper pieces some small gold coils on top the paper and to finish the layering an embossed on wood tribal dancer burnished in silver and bronze. Lots of creativity. Danielle Cote of Hull, QC created a very different card. First layer looks like black enamel paper with gold metallic pen marks around the edge to create a nice border. Layered on that is another piece of paper and here is where my lack of knowledge will get me in trouble: i think she has embossed the kokopelli dancer and other small images along with glitter on red ?? Regardless of the fact that I can not describe, it is truely a lovely card. I am in trouble on this card too! I love it. DK Stoneman created a book type card on parchment heavy weight, but does not feel like cardstock. This piece of paper has been marbled, splattered and stamped in brown and indigo tones and is cut in a shape that I would describe as a half arch ( is there such a shape? ) inside are four pages of soft parchment type paper that are also aged in appearance, stamped and marked on in different hieroglyphics, etc. This card is very very interesting. I am taking this swap with me to Ohio next week. I have a friend that will love all of them. She just gets to look. No keepers for her. I apologize for the poor descriptions of these marvelous cards. I'm educated to be a psychologist and for 8 1/2 years I worked in the field of mental retardation/dual diagnosis (diagonoses of both MR and mental illness) but for the past 2 1/2 years I have been a stay at home mommy of 4 children. That is, until today. This past week, I interviewed for two positions at the Conservative synagogue in San Antonio and I started both jobs this week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I will be teaching a class of 3 years olds and on Sundays I will teach the religious education class for the kindergarteners. Kind of cool, huh? Classes don't start for another two weeks; the next two weeks are for setting up the class rooms, writing curriculums, preparing materials, etc. The best part is that my youngest, Jacob (2 1/2 years old), goes to work with me and participates in his own class! He gets a group experience and the socialization that goes along with that, he experiences yet another enriched environment, and I make a little stamping money. Cool! However, I am *not* "really" a teacher and although I have taught at summer institutes for the gifted and talented.... and I lead a Girl Scout troop... so I do have *some* experience.... , I'm a little nervous. I'm just glad someone gets the name, and is laughing instead of thinking (like I might until I understood) HOW STUPID!!! Now the things I could think about Quaking~ like you are shaking in your boots, or at first glance think QUACKING. Thats like Kathy Snyder. I am keeping track of all of them and when it dies off I will post the entire list of memories to the list. I do not do scrapbooking, but maybe it would be cool for you who do it to type up some of these smells in different fonts and place them ramdomly around the pics of Grandma, yourself as a child, etc. It would make sort of a mental scratch & sniff book! Keep the smells coming. I actually get a little teary eyed when I read some of the posts! Stampin Nut Dar (I'm Dar too) sent me this unbelievable flower pot with flowers in it, that opens up. It was tied together. When you open it you tie it open and then it sits up all by itself. I know that doesn't make any sense. It's more than 3-D, I think. It's almost alive! Is it a die cut thing? Surely, it isn't hand made. Is it? I think it's colored with pencils. This is going to work with me tomorrow. I will be bragging for sure. I can never repay you with something so elaborate, but I will try something for sure. I can only say that it really brightened my day.
