Received my birdhouses/mailboxes swap cards. All of the cards I received were positively yummy. Thank you Tracy for hosting this swap. I will attempt to describe the cards I received: Unknown: Delicious dark blue linen paper. Inside was a pop-up scene with birdhouses hanging from a tree (actually repeatedly stamped leaves) and a mouse and bird snuggling that has been popped up. Clever way to make a tree. Bev K.: A very nicely colored birdhouse with a fairy on top of it leaning over to look at a bird. The bird has been 3-d. Ann-onymous: Her beautiful card has already been described. A really lovely card. Bin: Bin layered a rectangular piece of corrogated paper on a piece of linen cardstock. On top of that she layered a piece of paper that has been cut out with heartbeat? fisker scissors and has three birdhouses stamped on it. Nicely colored. I can't believe Bin made a card for everyone in the swap! Cheshire Cat: On a piece of dard beige textured cardstock (yummy), she layed a piece of woven fiber? diagonally across the card. In the upper right and lower left corners she layered birdhouses on top of the woven fiber. Love that cool fiber stuff. What is it and where can I get some! Just thought I'd share some tips on a subject I know more about than stamping. These tips apply to Netscape using Windows 3.1 or Win95. Keep your cache clean. If you've been surfing alot and your memory cache is full, everything slows way down. To clear it, click on the "Options" drop down menu, then click "Network Preferences". A menu will pop up and the Cache folder should be open. (If not, just click on the Cache tab.) Now click on the "Clear Memory Cache Now" button. Click "OK" when prompted. Do the same with the "Clear Disk Cache Now" button. Also, set the Memory Cache & Disk Cache boxes to a high number like 8000 or 16000 kilobytes. It can be higher than what you actually have. The "Up Side" of having a memory cache is that pages will load faster when you re-visit them. The down side is that you may miss updates on a web site. Even though Netscape is supposed to detect changes, I find that it doesn't always do that. Hit your Reload button to be sure you are getting the latest info when re-visiting a site. Hope this helps someone. Happy Surfing! Gregg - -- Susan's Stamp Works P.O. Point your web browser at http://crafts.dm.net/ . ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 08 Aug 1997 05:46:05 -0500 From: Sheryl Porter Subject: RS: Rubber Wedding I've been lying in bed awake since 3 a.m. Don't dare get up and get busy because there are too many people asleep here--good excuse to come to my favorite place. 25 years ago, when I was 25, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl we named Kimberly. We already had another baby girl, LeeAnn we'd adopted 17 months earlier and I remember being in the hospital with Kim and missing LeeAnn so much. Lee has been married for 7 years now and given us the sweetest grandbabies in the world, but she's moving to Michigan within days of the wedding. Today is Kim's wedding day and while we've all been anxious to have it finally get here, it also means we have to say goodbye to our other daughter's family very soon. But today is Kim's day and what a beautiful bride she makes. Yesterday, we went to the temple with her and her husband to be. They will be married in the same temple today in a few short hours. I cannot tell you how special it was to have my sister and her husband there with us. There were many other couples to be married there as well as missionaries and their families--the room was filled to overflowing, so it was unreal that out of all those people, my sister and her husband were chosen to be the witness couple. Made the day extra special, especially since a few short months ago she was so very sick with colon cancer. I had to rush home to Ashley, who has had her eye swollen shut and been running a fever since Monday. Hopefully she'll be well enough to be at the wedding, wedding breakfast and reception. It was so fun to bring in the mail and find the cards from the wedding swap. Thanks to KayeLynn and all who participated in that as well as those who sent cards seperately. They are all exquisite. I have some thank you gifts to mail out and had intended them to already be in the mail, but have had a few set backs in my plans. Ashley adored looking at each beautiful card and hopefully there will be a way we can put them on our web page after the wedding and before they go in a special scrapbook. I need to get a scanner and learn to use it, so I don't have to bother Mark so much. He is so busy taking good care of Jodi and working two jobs and drawing and making stamps that I think he keeps busier than I do. Kim and Troy also ooooohed and aaaahed when they saw the cards. It will be fun to incorporate them into the decorations tonight, and then they can save them in a special scrapbook to keep and look at more closely later. When things get overwhelming, it is so special to have friends who appear at just the right time and lend a helping hand. Tupperstamper spent 12 hours helping me at the scrapbook convention on Saturday and has left notes that she's willing to do anything she can to help with the wedding. Much appreciated Lisa, but I have Wonder Woman Diane on the job. I just have to tell you about my friend Diane. Many of my best stamps were drawn by Diane....not only is she an artist, but this amazing woman gave Kim a shower, made all the food, did the games, prizes, and favors. She also spent three days making the silk flowers for the bouquets and boutineers. She also is making the wedding cake which will be a masterpiece. And if that's not enough, I know LeeAnn had Diane (a licensed beautician on top of everything else) cut her kid's hair and I heard Kim asked her to do her hair for the reception. Everyone needs a Diane in their life......I am going to owe her a lot of rubber after the wedding. I met another girl at a bridal fair who loves rubber stamps and is going to trade with me to do the decorations tonight. I got so many wonderful ideas for decorations from list members, but the time ran out before I got to do them. Hopefully the next wedding (two down and four to go) will not come at such a busy time in our lives. It will be fun to be able to take time and enjoy things more next time. Another stamping friend is doing the food for tonight. So you can see that without rubber, this wedding would not be nearly as nice. As some know, my computer crashed just before we left for the Sacramento show. We had to reinstall Eudora and I don't know how to retrieve any of the mail I had prior to that time, so if anyone ordered HALOS and I have not been in touch with you, could you please resend any messages after Monday and we'll get right to work on them. I got a new shipment of KAIS yesterday from the mailman, and have lots of other fun things to offer, including the new Beedz in all the different color combinations. Didn't put Comm in the subject, so will post more later.....I always say that and never get it done. I promised to post more about the doll face stamps and have had several people ask about them. Sheesh, I'm finally sleepy and it's time to get everyone up and get going. We are trying to give employees more S.H.I.T. than anyone else. If you feel that you do not receive your share of S.H.I.T. on the job, please let see your manager. You will be immediately placed at the top of our S.H.I.T. list, and our managers are especially skilled at seeing that you get all the S.H.I.T. you can handle. Employees who don't take their S.H.I.T. will be placed in the DEPARTMENTAL EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROGRAMS (D.E.E.P. S.H.I.T.). Those who fail to take D.E.E.P. S.H.I.T. seriously will have to go to EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE TRAINING (E.A.T. S.H.I.T.). Since our managers took S.H.I.T. before they were promoted, they don't have to do S.H.I.T. anymore, and are full of S.H.I.T. already. If you are full of S.H.I.T. you may be interested in job training others. We can add your name to our BASIC UNDERSTANDING LECTURE LIST (B.U.L.L. S.H.I.T.). Those who are full of B.U.L.L. S.H.I.T. will get the S.H.I.T. jobs, and can apply for promotion to DIRECTOR OF INENSITY PROGRAMMING (D.I.P. S.H.I.T.) If you have any further questions, please direct them to our HEAD OF TRAINING< SPECIAL HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (H.O.T. S.H.I.T.). Thank you, BOSS IN GENERAL SPECIAL HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING B.I.G. Well first we had to find a bakery who would do custom, then we took a vial of blood and had him match the color to the icing (lots of hemaglobin). Then with samples, they drew on syringes, tubes, slides (With diff on it) and all sorts of goodies. Of course the cake itself was a nice full urine yellow color. It was a terrific cake and I doubt anyone has duplicated it since. I am on and off the computer all day and try to reply to your mail as fast as it comes in. I write and let you know when I receive your payments and I write again when I ship merchandise. I sell Penny Black, Stampendous, Embossing Arts, Clearsnap, DJ Inkers,Art Impressions, Hero Arts and Mostly Animals. I will take your order and get it ordered before your check arrives. Just like to have the payment before I ship. When I have sales of stamps in stock I will ship same day and wait for payment. I've been doing this for over a year and am pleased to say that the stampers on this list are wonderful, honest people. I very seldom have a problem collecting for merchandize that I've already sent. I enjoy having customers that I can trust. Only hope that I have earned your trust.. I also do the Image Swap. It has been running for over a year. I also do it with my snail mail pals and ususally get 50 to 80 sets of cards a month..I really enjoy it. Thanks for letting me chat. Have a nice day.
