Well, I received all the cards from everyone that told me they were gonna send them, so I sat down and spread it all out over my living room floor (good thing I'd cleaned). They've all been redistributed, stamped, and are about to be mailed. By the time you read this, they will be. I will post all the participants in a room in the HansenArt Gallery, but I'm going to wait a week to allow the players to get them in the mail first. This was another one of those swaps where I think I've done really well, and then I get everyone else's cards and I'm amazed. Let me write that again: AMAZED! There was some REAL artwork happening in this swap. Someone told me, "You know, I don't really like this style of stamping, but I've learned more techniques by just looking them over than in any other swap!" We'll do it again REAL soon! I know my descriptions won't do justice here - they,re all so neat! Kim Jones - a really neat bookmark - I love this paper, it's white with tiny little specs of black on it (it almost looks like pepper). She stamped the fish and added little air bubbles covered with glitter. Patty Sulcs - The outside of the card is 3 dolphins on a background that looks like it's air brushed over stencils (very pretty) and the inside is a pop up (kind of - I don't really know how to describe it). The center of the inside is a mermaid stamped and colored with markers, there is a frame around the stands out so the mermaid looks like she's in a shadow box. The "frame" is air brushed again in the same style as the front and stamped with different fish. I'm sure this card was alot of work and it really shows it - it's beautiful. Cynthia Sillitoe - Another beautiful card. Cynthia did the back ground in an aqua water color, leaving the top very top white. In the white space she stamped the sun and in the aqua she stamped a water nymph and some fish. All are beautifully colored. Mark Hanson - I know that I'm going to have to order these stamps. Mark stamped two jumping orcas (from HansonArt Stamps) in purple and blue, cut them out and glued them on layers of torn card stock. I really like the effect of this card. Lindaloo - This card is so pretty - it's all done in blue on glossy cardstock. The background is sponged light blue and has a mermaid and sea horse stamped in darker blue with a little glitter for accent. There are sea shells all across the bottom and bubbles in both upper corners. And finally from Christy - two cards - the first is a whimsical scene of a diver and the ocean bottom, complete with a treasure chest and a pair of sneakers. This is really a cute a card. The other card is a goldfish, stamped and embossed in gold on red card stock then layered on black card stock the has bubbles stamped and embossed in gold. These are layered on red card stock and the whole thing has gold circles sponged on to make a beautiful backgroung. The front edge is trimmed with decorative scissors and there is a strip of gold embossed miracle tape that shows thru from the inside. This is a stunning card. Thanks Christy for hosting and everyone for playing - there really were alot of wonderful cards here. I don't know if they have to have laminate around them >with out card stock artound them?? > I have done pins both ways. The reason for cutting them out first is so you can get the laminate to 'seal' around the card stock which would give the pin a longer life. I noticed when I laminate a full sheet, then cut them out the laminate does not seal to itself therefore is able to pull away from the pin. We went to Reno for our anniversary a couple of months ago. If you like space at all, go to the planetarium. They have a really cool starshow. 360 view projected on the dome ceiling. They play two movies, one about space and one more down to earth. We saw "What if the moon didn't exist" and "The Serengetti". Not quite in Reno, but at Boomtown a few miles away they have a little amusement place that's fun. It has one of those rides that are on hydralics (sp). You sit in the chair and it doesn't move, but the motion of the chair combined with what your eyes tell you and the puffs of air really make you feel like you are moving. And unlike a big place, you don't have to stand in line all day. We got silly and played minature golf and foozeball too. It was great fun not to be grown-up for a couple of hours. And I found some TTPOs at the gift shop in both places too.
