This was a great swap! Thanks, Deni, for a hostess job well done! I may have missed some of the descriptions from the other swap participants (didn't get any list mail through Juno for 2 days!), so I'll describe all the stuff I received: Stamper Shelley: A very cool pin using Fun Foam, paper clay, and some nice beads. The paper clay is stamped with a southwestern stylized rabbit image (I like this - who is it from?). This is the first pin I've received in a swap! "Artsy" Hawks: a wonderful layered card - base is white card stock, topped with red card stock (this is covered with gold embossed square 'glyphs), topped with brown, topped with plain red card stock. All of these layers have been trimmed with one of the corner scissors. The topmost layer is a Mayan image stamped in gold on white card stock. There are 2 turquoise arrowheads mounted on the brown layer. The corners of the base white card stock are lined in gold ink. Very professional looking - I love the layers! Shirley Ginn: I really like this style of card - it's a gatefold(?? you know, where the front folds into the center from the 2 sides). Anyway, the front panels are covered with hieroglyphics from a roller, and the large (very cool) Judikins mask image sits on top (mounted on one "gate", covering the center). On the inside of the card are hands and women. The card stock is a wonderful reddish brown (looks like Foxriver Confetti?). Suzanne Owen: A nicely layered postcard - base is tan card stock with black embossed square images; next is red card stock covered with black embossed figures from ERA Graphics (I may have to get a catalog from them!). This is topped with black corrugated, and finally another piece of tan with a very nice turtle image also embossed in black. I like the contrast of the red and black! DK Stoneman: This is so cool! A booklet, with a light tan card stock cover that has been splattered with black, brown, and gold ink (paint??) -- you've used a roller stamp for some of the splatters, but how did you do the black ink? I would love to know how you did this cover! Inside pages are (I think) unbleached coffee filters, cut in half. These have also been randomly splattered with gold ink, and both the cover and pages have randomly stamped (and very cool) petroglyph images. I really like this book! Thanks to all! I've gotten some great ideas from everything I received! wendy the faster i go, the behinder i get . . . But I have noticed that when I applied it to a large TeePee.... it did run the dye colors a bit. I've used it a lot..and that's the FIRST time I've ever had it run colors on me. Maybe I just didn't let the teepee dry long enough after I colored it. You CAN buy this from Jutta Hood (jutta@wolfenet.com)... that's where I get all of mine from, she's reasonably priced..and gives GREAT service. Hope this helps!!! - -----snip----- Somewhere around here I used to have a bottle of Liquid Laminate. Looked and looked for it the other day and couldn't find it. So, I picked up a 4 oz. bottle of that for $4.99 and a set of Crystal Lacquer tips. Tried it when I got home, and It WORKS! But probably not as good. It ran a little color on the dye ink. It's better on embossed, but I find it a little difficult to control and wonder if the CL is thicker than this, which is quite thin and runny. What caught my eye, was the similarity of the stamps we use for our crafts, and the professional ones were selling from $13.99 to $15.99... I hae made at least 10 so far and shown my little world of people here and everyone agrees with me, that THIS was made for us...RUBBER STAMPERS... I want to refer to it as the CLOCK IN THE BOX....... You take any two piece box... white matte finish or the brown craft boxes, available at a dept. store or craft store... A Bangle Braclet size or slightly larger..i have used all different ones. You take a separate piece of paper and stamp your desired picture (it should not be larger than the top of the box) You then take the paper you stamped your design on and wrap the top of the box with it so hat your design sits in the center...however, if it is the main focus, you will move it slightly... After it is wrapped you make a slit where you want the clock to come out with a rzor blad...you take a pencil point and make a big enough hole for the clock mechanism to come out. you have to slide the razor over the hole to remove excess cardboard. You take the actual clock mechanism and poke it through. You then put the hands on the clock You put magnets on the top and bottom of the back of the box Voila...you have a great present for a little bit of money. So I bought the clock for $15.00 ready made, went to the craft store and picked up the mechanisms to make the clock for about $6.00-$7.00, raided my bureau drawers for a box.... and with in 1 1/2 hours i had "my self" an a new little CLOCK IN THE BOX... I bought three different size boxes, called on my caraft suppliers and I am ready to take orders so that you too have a new inexpensive way to suse your stamlps and make holiday gifts. What is so cool is that you can use personal pictures and just glue them to the box and give it as a gift...a baby picture, a wedding picture, graduation picture..ANYTHING and attach a clock to it! These clock if you attach a magnet to where you want to hang it can be in a car, a bathroom, a bedroom, endless places...if you want to use velcro on the back instead of a magnet you can do that too My prices will be between $5.00 and $6.00 for everything ....(except your paper and stamps), (shipping extra) It will include everything: boxes ( will advise what sizes are available) clock mechansims I will give you numbered face (although you may decide not to use the face) 3 clock hands (hour -second -minute) number placement card and instructions Once the UPS strike is over I will have a 10 Day turn around time... In the meantime I want all your feedback ask me all your questions, and go look in the craft store and see how expensive the mechanisms are... you will need double face tape and a pair of plyers let me hear from you rustamping (kathie) I have attached one of my creations for you to see.. P.S. please excuse any typo errors, i am so excited about this and i wanted to get it on the board right away...thanks This message was from Rustamping@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I don't have any extra cattys, I sold them all awhile ago. I can order one for you. The price for the outliners is 3.50 for a stamp pad, 1.75 for an ink spot and 2.10 for a refill. The colors are: Scarlet, Buttercup, Wintergreen, Hunter Green, Burgundy, Colonial Blue, Imperial Blue, Blue Lagoon, Fuchsia, Lilac, Chocolate, Very Black and Butterscotch. Saturdays seem to be the > >worst. > >We've been there all day and want to go home!! > > I was surprised to sign on the list for a couple hours today and find this thread among the messages because I had an experience like this yesterday at the Dairy Queen. We showed up 15 minutes before closing to be told that they didn't serve hot dogs within 30 minutes of closing. Since they did have a microwave and a hot dog can be nuked in its bun in less than a minute, that seemed like an unreasonable policy to me. So we bought chocolate malts to console ourselves...the clerk wasn't happy about that either--she put them in blizzard cups because the malt cups were put away!! Of course, that won't keep me from going back to the dairy queen , but I must admit that I seldom return to a store in which I've received any indication that the sales person (owner or clerk) wants me to leave so she can lock up. And this is the prevalent attitude in Missouri (or at least Columbia and St. Joe) stores...all day! I loved Merlene's attitude. This is the attitude that is prevalent in the Pac NW and the one I'm accustomed to: the customer is always right. Sales people are trained to find a way to satisfy the customer without giving away the store (or staying much past closing time!) At the S&L where I was the CSR trainer, company policy was that a complaint from an unhappy customer had the same weight as an out-of-balance cash drawer: three unjustified instances and the CSR was out of a job. We were coming home around 11:30 this morning and saw a mail truck on the street. When I got to the door, there was a priority mail package waiting for me that had just been delivered! The post office must be working overtime trying to accomodate all the additional packages they received due to the UPS strike! The best part (it was the fabulous paper that Alleycat donated as a prize in Baggie's Labor of Love--different post) was receiving a package on a day that you NEVER expect one! Well, actually the best part was the contents :). Roz This message was from "Brian Finnegan" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Well, I have been thinking about some decisions I need to make about my business and ordering from other companies. First of all, I am having trouble getting minimum orders lately. So, I am rethinking about ordering from other companies. I am a small home party/mail order business and cannot afford to order extras because I do not have a store front or craft mall to sell the extras. I was wondering if any of you could give me ideas on this. Or, if you would rather order from one of the other vendors, as they can get your orders to you faster. I would like to hear from all of you! Thanks for your support and I'll be looking forward to hearing from you. As for my grab bags and paper, I will always do those, as that is my specialty! - -- Bonnie "Lass" Linhart Lass Creations 6339 Ventura Lane Central Point, OR 97502-9355 This message was from Bonnie Lass - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
