You have my sympathy. I know how hard this is for you. When one of my daughters was 16, one of her classmates (who had been her boyfriend for a short time, but wasn't at this time) committed suicide -- by playing Russian roulette in front of his best friend and his current girlfriend! I was so devastated by this ... that I wasn't "there" for my daughter. I was in my own world of grieving for this teenager. So my kind words to you, Michele, would be for you to allow yourself to "be there" for Scott. Grieve privately, when he's not around -- and then "hold him up" when he is around. Very important is to *talk* about this with him. Not talking about it is like pretending it didn't happen and that is unhealthy. So please be sure, even tho it will be very hard for you both, to talk about this. Listen to Scott talk about good memories he has of Ricardo. Help him to keep the memory of Ricardo alive. Ricardo's spirit lives forever! He will be missed by many, I'm sure. I will remember you & Scott & Ricardo's families in my prayers, Michele. God's peace! She said it was suppose to be country, but it sure looks like pretty to me. Its a layered card, first a beige/tan/wheat card with a piece of salmon (my very favorite color, you didn't know that did you) material pinked around the edges with raffia under a heart cut out that is stamped using a really neat effect. Stamped different flowers and outlined the heart, the ink is all different colors, then clear embossing, it really is pretty. You say country, okay the buttons in the corner are country, but that heart is pretty!!! Thank you so much, I must try this out, you gave me good instructions. Subject: RS: TAN - IT'S BEEN A GREAT WEEK G'Day, Just wanted to share what a good week I have had - apart from having no server for about 5 days. First I had a phone call from my uncle who works for a paper bag manufacturer. He said that my dad had been talking to him, and told him about me doing stamping on all sorts of things. He wanted to know if I could use bags that are returned to the warehouse for various reasons. CAN I. The first shipment arrived by rail two days ago. There are 1000 lovely gold bags - slightly marked, and 200 assorted white, red, green, craft tote bags - all of which I can find absolutely nothing wrong with. I feel so lucky. He said that when- ever they get returns from now on he will send them my way. Second - the local art store, which does framing approached me about being able to use offcuts of mounting board - Was not sure about it until I received Sandy Lucks card in the mail this week. I will be off to see them today, and collect all they have. They are also getting me have all their offcuts of foam core board. BUT THE BEST NEWS - I got a phone call from a dear friend on Monday to say that if it was alright with me, she would like to come and visit. She arrives next Thursday and will be able to stay for 4 whole days. I am just over the moon about this. Annie is such a dear friend, and was a tower of strength to us when Caleb was ill and after the Lord called him home. I had to hang up the phone and call her back after I had had a big cry. I just can't wait to see her. We don't get too many visitors out here, and she has a 24hour bus trip to get here. She is also the lady who introduced me to stamping, so we will probably not get too much sleep for the 4 days. Thanks for listening. Subject: RS: January birthday buddies cards Hi I have received 3 January Birthday Buddies cards over the past few days. First from Jessica Lingam. She did a shaker card which is just lovely. She has used an oval tri-fold cut out card, and in the "window" part has used a purple background, onto which she has put a hibuscus flower, and the window is filled with stars and dots confetti. Around the oval she has glued crystal glitter. Just a beautiful card. Thanks so much for all you effort. Second was a post card from Sandri Luck. My postie was just amazed at this. His comment was "you get some strange mail, but this is the best yet!" When I saw your card I believed it. Sandi has done her stamping on a piece of mounting card (the type used in picture frames). It is black in colour, she has embossed some silver pots, and a verdigris lizard. and then drizzled silver and copper?gold? stuff all over the card - name and description please. To this design she has actually glued beads and a gold coin, and has sent it through the post as a postcard, with no envelope - what a game lady. I am actually surprised that it arrived. I have just been given a heap of this type of card from the local art shop, now I have wonderful ideas for it. My third which arrived today whas from Shellie Maccaux. On parchment card - the same type that my SS has just sent me, she stamped a little scene with a multicoloured frog on grass. The scene also included 2 bees, a lady beetle, a butterfly and the sun. Just the thing that we need on this cold windy day to cheer us up. I have really loved all the cards that I have received so far. Subject: RS: Aussie Swap Descriptions Hi, I was so excited to get my swap cards from the Australian Swap. Kym has let you know that they have arrived. I was so excited to actually talk to someone on the list. It must be something that we do more often. Kym did an excellent job of hosting this swap. I received a beautiful card from Megan, She stamped a hero arts lavendar stamp on white card and coloured it. This she layered onto natural corrigated card, then onto light purple card which had been cut with decorative scissors, and all this was layered onto a white card which she had marked with purple spots - how did you do this Megan, the effect is truly lovely. I have this stamp and have always used dark purple paper behind it - I think your light purple is so lovely. A card from Nerolie Oakes. Nerolie has used a cream card onto which she has layered green mulberry paper and then placed what lookes like a metal tile onto which she has embossed a leaf design. I have no hope of describing this. I am totally baffled as to the product or techniques used. Some help please Nerolie. I think the effect is great, and would love to know how, and what you used. (Sorry for the slack description) It is really great, I just don't know what I am describing. A card from Nikki Ingham Rhodes. She has used a burgandy card onto which she has layered decoratively cut gold paper, and then a piece of off white card onto which she has gold embossed the hero arts Love wordprint stamp. and also different pink heart stamps. Looks great Nikki, gives me heaps of ideas. I also got a wonderful scene card from our super hostess Kym. She has created a beach scene with sanddunes, some coconut trees, shells, birds, clouds a sun and penguines. It's just lovely and is one that will now be placed on my feature wall. I received some cards also from other Mt Isa Stampers and I will be passing on my comments to them when we meet again. I must say that the ladies from here have just had a wonderful time with the swap - a first for most. The ladies are anxious to join other swaps and I will let them know about different ones when then come up. I am off to Cloncurry on Monday for a mini-school, and will catch up with the ladies there, and will get their descritpions from them and post when I get home - If my server is working:-(. Thanks again Kym for hosting this and for all the others who joined in. Hi, I was so excited when my SS package arrived. I had a couple of friends here when the package came, and I had a wonderful time having them drool over all the lovely things that my SS sent me. First the package was full of stamp and hugs and kisses confetti. This is just great, they all wanted a few (I did not share them, greedy wench that I am). My SS was so good to me, I could not believe all the little things that she packaged up for me. There was a pair of bubble scissors - None of us have ever seen this pattern in any of the catalogues we have, and we think that I must be the only person in Aus who has a pair. I am just sooooo lucky. Then there was 2 rubber stamps - one was a hero arts squiggle which I must admit I just love. I have used it so much in the past few days since it arrived. It is not something I would have bought myself, but it has just become one of my favourite stamps. What a clever SS you are. The second was one by Rubberstampede. It was a patchwork house with "Home is where the heart is" printed over it like a rainbow. This too is a lovely stamp. Have not used it yet, but do have some plans for it. There was also a package of 40 cream bookmarks. I have already used 20 of these making rewards for my hubbies class. There was also a package of parchment cards. I have not used any of these yet. They will be kept for a special purpose at the moment I am just looking at them. There was a bottle of Candy Green embossing powder. Can't wait to see what this looks like. There were some Disney Stickers - keeping these off the kids has been a real struggle. They are lovely, and I have been able to use them as rewards for good behaviour. Thanks heaps. I also received 2 made cards. One was two blue tea cups which had been stamped on cream card, beautifully simple. The second is a sea theme card with lovely crystal waves. From the hostess Carlene: I'm sure you have heard over and over again what she so generously gave all of us, so I won't go into detail, but they are so cute Carlene and thanks so much, not only for the "extras" but also for hosting. From Val Kildaw: White CS with rounded corners, and "thinking of you" in the corner and a background of glitter writing. Then there is a stamped and cut out teapot on blue CS with a teabag sticking out and then a little snippet of what looks like wrapping paper. Inside it says, "Friendship begins with a cup of kindness". Wonderful card! I love it! Thanks so much! From Sandy (who must be obeyed): She did a background of words (kinds of teas) on her computer--this is really cool--I never thought of doing this! Then she layered vellum, dark pink CS and lighter pink CS, and on top of this is a trio of teacups colored to match the pink and embossed in gold. Very pretty--and I love the background idea. Thanks Sandy! From Nancy Hunt-Bartek: kind of a collage type card with a background of greenish parchment, cut with a decorative scissor that looks like pinking shears. Layered are different snippets of paper lace, and wallpaper, and cloth and ribbon and braid, and a picture of a teapot. Then she stamped "Come and share a pot of tea...my home is warm and my friendship's free". Lovely classy looking card! Thanks so much Nancy! There is one with no name on it. On the front is pansy background paper with a purple ribbon on top, layered onto lavender CS. Then there are a stamped and cut out plate of heart-shaped cookies and a teacup, and in the corner are three glued buttons. This card is so pretty too! Thanks so much whoever you are! From Lynne Weyenberg-Karkow: She used the stampin' up lace background stamped in white on lavendar paper--ooh very pretty! Then she stamped aand cut out a teaset complete with pot, cups, creamer, sugar, and those little cake dealies (can't think of the name), which she frosted with liquid applique. Inside it says "There are few hours in life more agreeable than afternoon tea", with a tea border on the bottom. This is a wonderful card also--I'm going to have to try embossing that lace, it turned out so beautiful. Thanks Lynne! I'm not the only one running the electric train at 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve? I personally prefer toys that do not require assembly -- but batteries is another matter. Hi Lynette Chickie, Let me first preface this by saying it is 1:27 am and I have scads of email b/c I had trouble with my modem for two days and couldn't get my mail, so I may be a little more edgie than I would like. But I think I have two words for your friend, and I am kind of famous, or is it infamous, for this expression. Here goes BITE ME! If you and your husband want another child, and your ob/gyn has no objections, and even then I personally would get another opinion, go for it! She isn't going to be the one to raise your child, so don't worry about it! I am not an "older" mom, but I know how you feel. We would love more children, but I am on so much medication, we can't. And when I have tried in the past to go off the meds so we could add to the future gene pool, I become a blithering, depressed idiot! In our case, we have come to the conclusion the God has decided we have enough to handle!!! LOL But not a friend! You go girl! And get on something that amounts to nothing and make a baby!!! Best Wishes!! Everything will be just fine! b. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Everything comes out in the wash............. it's just getting it to the washer that sucks....... That is wonderful because you can squish the bag around and try to see as many of the dies as you can, so you can pick which you want. I think I got two grab bags - one of the big ones and one small. The light house was in the small and the feather in the big. They were both high on my wish list. I didn't get a Ken Brown one, but I wish I had. I love his stuff. If you can't make a weird card with a Ken Brown stamp, then you just can't make a weird card!! I think that I tried just getting lint on the black double-stick cushion (to cut down the sticky) and use them that way, but when I stuck them to the acrylic and tried to take them back off, the foam ripped in spots, leaving part on the mount and part on the die. I wouldn't use any kind of chemical on the dies without testing it first. I don't know how they would react. You probably could glue something onto the black foam and put the glue on it - should work. You will have to get their catalogs - they are free if you can wait for bulk mail!! - -- AlphaBecky greene10@mto.infi.net This message was from AlphaBecky - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
