When we were growing up during the summer our vacations were usually driving from California to Ohio where my parents are from. We always left after midnight and drove until it started getting warm and then we would stay in a motel until after midnight and start all over again. Of course my sister and I would fall asleep and often my parents would stop at a restaurant for coffee and park where they could see us if we woke up and didn't know where they were. Those memories are good ones from my childhood. I have told my kids (adults now themselves) how lucky we were to grow up where there weren't the fears, pressures, weirdos, etc...to deal with. So much has had to change and not always for the better. Living in southern California we here horror stories all the time that have happened because parents have left their children in cars, if not for someone taking them, they have died due to heat stroke. It's up to us to protect the young... Sorry didn't mean to unload. I have a question and hope you can help...I want to get into the pin thing and need to get the 1/16" punch you were saying you had to do the dangling charm/stamped image thing. (OOOH, this reminds me of those images that Turtle Man Frank lent to Lori) Anyway back to the subject at hand... Where did you get yours? I have tried Office Depot, Stationary stores, etc and no one has it or can order one for me. Help!... Please let me know where I can find one. Also I want to thank you again for the um you gave me and as soon as I get a free moment, I promise I am going to make you a card. So that leads to the next thing - I need your snail addy. A product sold/made by Ray and Beverly Stevens. It is atype of paint that looks white in the bottle, but when used on dark paper/card stock, it results in a rich looking colored luster similar to the result from the Hidden Satin Embossing Powders sold by Embossing Arts. I have lost the directions and tips on how to use this paint and am at a loss. Any one out there know the product or have access to an addy, email or otherwise for Artistic U. I don't know if the lack of a street address would prevent a post from getting to them or not. TIA for any help/advice you might have. What do I stamp to? Depends on my mood (like everyone else, huh?)... Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) it's music from the LATE 70's ('78 and '79) and the early '80's ('80 thru '85)... mostly music that would have been deemed "new wave" back then (the radio station around here calls it "retro") i.e. The Cars, The Police, Depeche Mode, OMD, Bronski Beat, Yaz...and others that weren't so mainstream... Othertimes it's the current progressive/alternative music... Smashing Pumpkins, Jewel, Jars of Clay, DC Talk... OR... it could be the Jazz station... I love modern Jazz... But this is only if the kids are NOT home... if they are around, then it's the soundtrack from "Oliver and Company" or "Toy Story"... Well... that's better than Barney, huh??? I usually use a birthday cake and put however many candles on it as it needs. With some folks' birthdays (like Frank's) I also put a fire extinguisher on the card. With a lot of candles (too many to fit on the cake) I stamp them and cut them out and glue them onto acetate (actually overhead projector sheets because they're cheaper) and mount these in layers under the cake with that easter grass stuff that's clear and sparkly.
