I always thought it was the salt on them,
Fran,

We don't use salt in this house, so it can't be the salt.  Yetta's big on crunchies of all kinds, but loathes yogurt, whereas our previous pair had yogurt for breakfast.  Due to her total inactivity because of the severe heart murmur, we've had her on a pretty strict diet--no mean feat for a Princess who's best friend is the fridge--so we try not to give her too many tidbits.  She's lost all of three lbs in two years, down to a svelte 20 lbs!

But, wouldn't it be dull if they all liked the same thing?  <rotflmao>  Same goes for people <G>

Cheers,
Linnzie

I used to work for a veterinary clinic years ago and the vets told me lots of stories of cats and kittens that have died due to the things they had eaten. Tinsel and string, yarn, all those things that catch a little kitty's eye - they can, if swallowed, get caught in their digestive tract and cause them to die a slow, painful death. I, for one, will not allow tinsel on my tree because I have a cat, and have had to remind people often about crochet yarn, etc. - it is so tempting to play with with your cat, yet after you've gone to sleep at night, and kitty wants to play, if the yarn is left out and they start to chew on it, they can injure themselves with it. I don't want anyone to think I am criticizing them, but you may not be aware of the dangers! Lynette (very much a cat lover!) Martha Jackson wrote: > > This is very dangerous to your cat! Wow, it was SOOO nice of several of you to write to me before our trip! We did 2,200 miles (or a little more!) in 8 days, so we were moving! Started with a delightful family reunion in Macomb, Illinois--there were 27 of us . . . more than I expected! Then, the never to be missed Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois. (Well, okay, if you're not a Superman freak you could probably miss it!). The drive from there to central Kentucky was a delight. I waved at the Land Between the Lakes, to the stamper who lives there and wrote to me! A dash to Mammoth Cave, and two nights in the hotel. My 17 year old said the hotel was "pure 60's." Actually, I think it was probably pure 50's! It was fine, though, we didn't go there for the hotel! The cave(s) were absolutely incredible! It was billed as a "strenuous" trip, which was no understatement! It would be fine for someone in perfect physical shape, but . . . well, uh, I'm not! From there to Memphis, half a day at Graceland (okay, did everyone know it was Elvis week except me?). It was CROWDED, but interesting for a one-time experience. Even more exciting in a completely different was was the National Civil Rights Museum. Someone on this list suggested we go there, and was that person ever right! I had to struggle hard to get my family to go there, but everyone was very moved by the experience. We take so much for granted, even though many of us lived through the 50's and 60's! Thank you to the kind person who suggested that! My references to those who wrote and made suggestions are a bit obscure . . . my computer was very sick. It went to the hospital while we were on our trip. And ugh, did I lose everything? And then some it seems like! Every note anybody ever sent me is gone (sob), so these responses aren't very personal . . . but they are heart felt! Thanks--it was a "super" trip! It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water, and warm Spring weather. Those old and frail animals are young again. Those who have been maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. But there is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated. - Author Unknown I happened upon the above last night while reading about Australian Cattle Dogs. We have lost two this year. One elderly, the other young and healthy. I know how you must feel...they are so innocent, so trusting...it is so much harder than you think it will be. Sorry you had to experience this which sounds even more traumatic than the usual pet loss.
