I've looked at the ads in Somerset Studios, the RubberStamper, Rubberstampmadness, Nasco catalog, Daniel Smith catalog, Pearl Art catalog, Dick Blick catalog, along with all the other volumes of specialty paper and art catalogs I get and for the most part every design is too cute for my taste. I do enjoy my geometric shaped punches, and my fleur-de-lis, star, moon, and sun punches. Keyhole RubberStamps carries some interesting designs--they have a small arrow punch, a decorative x punch, and a keyhole punch, but *each* punch is $27.00 +tax! A little bit pricey for my budget. Hope someone can help me with this search! :) TIA Lee~ ekland@cwia.com This message was from Lee - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I loved these cards as I'm so drawn to cosmic images. Brief descriptions of the cards I received.... Jaimee Givens did a really cool pentagonal card (I'm not sure that's the right term, but it's got five sides..) The whitepaper has red stars and opens to reveal embossed stars and "thinking of you"--and she included a small bow to use to close the card. Really innovative! Anon.--a woman surrounded by stars and three rainbow ink stamped moons are layered on a background of stars...gives a lovely sene of these floating. Also the corners have star shapes punched out. Sharon the Mouse Potato's card has stars of different sizes and also shooting stars on the front and then inside stamped in rainbow ink "May you find this year full of good things." This would be a really good holiday card...though the sentiment could apply to other occasions as well. Anon.2--a moon, sun, and stars all embossed in white power against black cardstock. Really nice touches in gold glitter around the moon and a yellow circle of puff paint (I think) at the sun's core. Very dramatic. Kim Michels card has a moon embossed in gold, then layered against a gold square and then on to black cardstock. A background of embossed stars gives this a lovely mysterious feel. Fun swap! Thanks to artists and hostess....Cynthia (who really should be asleep....) Stamp Francisco (I carry them at 15% off every day) has an amazingly detailed "Manger" stamp. It's large -- approx. 3 1/2 w x 4" h -- It's very "Medieval" looking with a frame around the entire scene, a "carpet" on the barn floor (?!), Bethlehem in the background, all the Magi, assorted shepards, animals and -- well -- the main players, of course -- you get the idea? There are two lines of text under that say "May Christmas and the holidays Bring you blessings peace and joy." I can attach an image to supporting e-mail programs (as soon as I get it scanned) if you're interested. More Christmas stamps will be up at my site come September.... It's Item # MC751-V (I'm checking price -- I THINK it's about $14.00 retail - -- $11.90 my price -- but I have to double check -- it's a new item!) This stamp is from the Stamp Fran. Christmas Supplement (which I now have in stock). If you ordered a Stamp Fran. catalogue from me in the past and didn't get this and WANT it -- let me know. If you've never ordered a Stamp Fran Cat. and WANT one, this insert will now be included along with all their wonderful "WORD" stamps and Gallery collection supplements. As long as you use Colorbox inks that can be embossed you are safe. Try not to have everything tooo close to the pictures though. Nothing (not even acid-free - is totally acid free - so you are better off not having too much in contact with your pictures.) It also depends on how fanatic you are about the acid-free stuff. I was told by a scientist that no matter what you do there will be some sort of deteriation but taking some precautions will help. I use a lot stamps in my books, I love stickers! I buy a lot of the frame stamps to make designs on my pages around the pics. (I am not too picky about touching my pics). Most of the markers that we use with stamping are acid-free already. The ZIG brands are really nice too! I use my computer a bunch. Mostly for headings for words. I have a horrible handwriting. I do have an alphabet set of stamps and use those too! Die-cuts are great...there are even templates that you can cut your own - or cut your pics to that shape! Love this. Your ideas can go wild...just use your imagination. Have fun with it. I think these would make excellent stamping gifts for secret pals or stampers...need some feed back here.... thanks for your help.. a lot of you have computers at home and of course at work so far i got about 200 at home...pretty good turn out for a rainy day.. anyone interested that in the last two weeks we have had such bad wind and rain storms i lost two big trees? Well, I probably shouldn't have done it but my girlfriend loves good animal stories so I forwarded the blind puppies post from a few weeks back to her. Now she has a bunch of questions: How are they doing? What kind of behaviors do they develop? How did you find them, or find out about them? Do you recommend adopting handicapped puppies to others? (Ever since yesterday she has been barely restraining herself from calling the Humane Society to see if they have any blind or deaf puppies...) Thanks! How far is that from where you live? It is in a beautiful mall where we walked around and shopped ate lunch at one of the outdoor restaurants - it was a great way to "kill" time before our flight! It has been crazy since I'm back. We got home 1:30 in the morning tuesday and 6 hours later we were driving my daughter to her first day of Kindergarten! I spent tuesday, wednesday and thursday helping at the school (my son is in second grade and I had made a memory quilt for his teacher so we needed to redecorate and hang it) Friday I took the day off from school to unpack and do some laundry, saturday I food shopped, my kids had sleep over guests and we went to a block party to meet some new neighbors. It is now Sunday.....there is a new exhibit at Space Center on Robots we promised to take the kids to, and my son needs to finish his homework which consists of making a dinosaur habitat in a shoe box!!!! In my spare time I have been trying to coordinate a new Rubber Stampede order, find out what happenened (sp?) to my Kreate-a-lopes I ordered and then tomorrow I teach a class on paper making, yeah I'm ready for that. And finally on Tuesday I am meeting a friend for lunch, MARGARITAS ANYONE!!!!!!! Anyway, did you really ask to hear all of that? I didn't think so! I am having lots of fun, and my kids are enjoying every minute of the new school year! Now, if I can only find time to play with all my new stuff!!!! Friday night is our local CLASS meeting (Clear Lake Area Stamping Society) maybe I'll take it there and make them all dip with me!!!!!! Hope you enjoyed Las Vegas, you have to tell me what stores you and Sammi Lynn got to visit! If you come to Houston we can play too!!!
