Following are the details for a 1998 Calendar Swap. I participated in one last year and have been enjoying the calendar. This should be a fun swap with no boundaries (please no erotica). I will stamp the covers, add the days of the month pages, assemble and comb bind along the 11" edge (this will be the bottom edge of your stamped page.) You won't need to leave an edge for binding unless you plan to write in this area. Please include stamp credits, any techniques and your name. MAILING INFO: SAML + $5.00 for binding and shipping. I too, enjoy making and receiving a card for every participant. However, in the last swap that I hosted it turned out that I ended up sending some of the participants some of their cards back. I hated doing it and I know of at least one very unhappy participant but... What happened was this: I requested 5 for 5. I had five(!) people that sent me more than 5. One sent 9, and the others 10. There were only 10 participants. If (and I did try this) sorted the way that Patti did then the five people would end up with one from everyone and the remaining five people would all end up with the same cards. I am a firm believer in giving a variety of cards back to each participants and in this instance I didn't feel that there was enough to do this. I wrote a note before leaving on vacation advising that I would be sending some of the participants cards back and apologized. Usually, there is only one or two people that are willing to do multiples and then there is no problem. For myself, if I were to send more than required in hopes to get one of each of the participants, I may be a little disappointed but would not get angry if the hostess is unable, in spite of good intentions, to do this and sends back some of my own. Hello everyone, I received my first SS package today and it was quite a thrill. I just kept pulling things out of the box - for a minute I thought it was bottomless. My SS is obviously a very cool person with great taste. My boyfriend and sister are insanely jealous - they wish they had a secret stamper too! I played with everything as soon as I opened it so if I forget anything it's because I had too much fun with it already! Here goes: My SS sent me a lot of paper (which is great because that's what I always run out of) including stationery, bookmarks, some red corrugated paper, some beautiful gray mulberry paper, and sticker paper. She also included some cute Paperbilities patterns and some patterned paper, one with green squares and another with pink roses. I can't wait to use it all! I also got two awesome stamps - I already tried them out and love them. One is a frog floating in water on a ring-shaped blow-up plastic horse (you know the pool toys) by Hampton Art Stamps and the other is the Celestial Sun by All Night Media. They're both wonderful. I also received some peach embossing powder (which I had never tried before) and I used it on my new sun stamp - it looks great! I also got a gold metallic Marvy marker which I can't wait to use. And last but not least, my SS sent me a pair of Fiskars, the seagull design, which is exactly what I've been wanting for a long time, but couldn't afford. Thank you SS for everything - you are the greatest! Lori This message was from MsAmaretto@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. It really should not be a stressful situation at all. You will find for the most part entering and hosting swaps to be very enjoyable. I have hosted many swaps and have joined in many swaps and have only had a couple of bad experiences. One involved the water/gel cards which was a combination of them leaking and UPS being a pain which ended up costing me about $50! And only once did I have people drop from a swap where it became a problem of not having enough cards to send. My solution was to personally make 3 different cards for 3 different people. In my opinion whatever the stress of those situations it was still worth the time and effort and I had great cards in the end, and happy players! I have on many occassion had people request a card from each player, and also I have people who have just sent in cards for everyone's without asking and I honored their request. Since I am the person (who was supposed to remain nameless) who asked Lisa why it was a problem to send back cards from everyone I thought I should let you know it was a sincere question as to why it was difficult to do. I said I did not understand and asked her why, and never did I expect to recieve the response I got. I did not realize it was going to ruffle any feathers and upset anyone, nor did I expect it to start this thread. Please do not let what you are hearing make you afraid to host or join in swaps. Please remember there are 400 (give or take) people on the list and you are only hearing opinions from a few of them, mine included, but that is part of what this list is all about. I have been on this list for almost a year now and have gotten so much from here, some great swaps, some great laughs, tons of ideas and some great friends. Enjoy, and Happy Stamping! geevee so many stamps, so little time g.v.'s-16802 village corner court-houston-texas-77059-5599 IF YOU LIVE IN TEXAS-PLEASE ADD 7 1/4% TAX TO YOUR ORDERS - THANK YOU angelmoose@juno.com - zwangja@msn.com On Tue, 19 Aug 1997 00:05:43 -0400 "Victoria T. (In Maine we live in Florida.)That was July 25 . They sent it UPS on the 30th. I tracked it down and it has been sitting in Mass. since the first of Aug. Needless to say , my daughter has been wearing the same shorts and T-shirt since July 25th. Have to wash every other day. I hope this strike has ended . We need her swim suits for the start of school this thursday. And I need to wash all those clothes!!!! I also ordered her a summer reading list book for school. That was held up . My poor daughter will be staying up all night to finish that when it arrives. Thanks for letting me vent this frustration.
