I wish I had made more books, so I could have received more. These are fantastic! Michelle Lim used floral wrapping paper for the cover. Embossed in black is a hand holding an envelope. She used pink ribbon to hold it all together. The ribbon can be seen from the spine side, but is hidden otherwise. Pages are stitched together with pink thread. Tina Starling's book is covered with purple mulberry paper and has a gold embossed dragonfly. She used dark blue ribbon to hold it all together. The pages have ants going across the bottom. Karen (diggerb@postoffice.ptd.net) used yellow cardstock for her cover. Layered on that is the Hero Arts Birthday word stamp on white. She stamped and cut out colorful balloons, using black thread for the strings. The pages are different colors of cardstock. It's all tied together with 4 different colors of ribbon. Cindy Weber used dark blue cardstock for her cover. First she layered a white card that was sprayed with gold Color-Mist, then a piece of dark blue cardstock like the cover, and finally a deckle cut white piece with a cute angel embossed in gold. The page edges are dipped in gold and each has a different design in gold in the bottom right corner. She put it all together with gold beading wire, tiny gold beads, and a gold star charm. Barbara Simpson's book is on white cardstock with an adorable rabbit whose shirt says Girls Can Do Anything. Really cute. She bound it with aqua tape. These are all so different and so inspiring! (long) Today, on my way out the door to visit my local (and one not-so-local) stamp stores, I picked up the mail...Lo and Behold! The cards from the paper tole swap had arrived (as well as my new issue of RSM). ALL are WONDERFUL! but it's very difficult to describe the dimension in them -- but I'll try! No name or credits -- but very pretty card with a basket stamped on tan paper and cut out, then 3 (what I call) periwinkle blue flowers stamped onto navy blue paper, and some leaves stamped onto a different color of green...all layered onto the basket which is glued onto the forest green. from Russell Hengen a great white notecard with a deckled edge (the *real* kind, not the "cut" kind) with a great totem pole stamped 2x and various parts of the 2nd one cut out and attached with foam tape to the one stamped onto the card...."Just a Note" stamped to the left of this with the "J" cut out and foam taped over the one stamped on the card....This was a very striking card. from lindaloo, a gorgeous flower stamped 3x (embossed on 2 of them) and colored in a bright pink. Various petals were cut and layered onto the original image on the card (which looks as if it is one of the "stained glass" stamps). Then she framed the entire image with corrugated paper....very pretty! Penney Gurrola -- I've received cards from Penney in various swaps and they are always works of art! This one is no exception. The front of the card is a door by Love You to Bits (with bows for hinges) stamped onto a great background of diamonds and dots (stamp by All Night Media). Penney cut the door so it opens. The inside is *numerous* layers -- a little girl standing by a fence with a great big sunflower beside it. The sunflower is *wonderful*..3 layers, with the center of the flower being brown liquid applique! The girl/scene is by Embossing Arts. Great card...lots of cutting! Penney cut out all the little flowers & butterflies & "popped" them up with foam tape. last but not least...our hostess, Sheryl Whitebirch, who was soooo patient waiting for my cards to arrive. I think mine were a victim of the UPS strike!! Anyway, Sheryl's card is a great little kitty stamped and layered 3x with a heart tag - bell even attached! Sheryl even layered a french vase and cut out the top, inserting some silk flowers. This is such a sweet card!!! Thanks for all the great cards...my descriptions are long, and don't really do them justice, but I loved them each and every one!! rubberWoman (aka) Kathy Ward This message was from "Kathy Ward" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. (long) - ----------------------- I came home from a wonderful day out with my husband to find a box stamped with assorted blue stars waiting at my door. I quickly checked the return addy--yea!--it was from my Secret Stamper Sister! I raced to the kitchen table and tore into it. My hubby stood at my side, watching intently as I unwrapped each item. (Follow along, and see when you discover that this box has a very special theme.) It's all a blur, so the items are not listed in a particular order. I do recall that sitting under the protective bubble wrapping (of course I popped a few) were sheets of gold stars on white tissue paper and solid gold paper (can't wait to make envys). Under those was a package of navy mulberry paper with gold fibers (gorgeous) from Cost Plus World Market. (I never heard of this brand--could it be a clue to your identity?) Then I found a lovely card from my SS. She glittered (I believe) gold stars and a moon on navy mulberry, deckled the paper and pasted it on high gloss gold cardstock--so shiny I can still see the idiotic grin that hasn't left my face since finding the package at my door. Inside, she embossed "warmest wishes" in gold. Starting to see a pattern yet? Keep reading. Inside the box were a load of packages, all wrapped in the same tissue papers she sent me. What to unwrap first? I chose the big, hard block--now you're thinking along my wavelines. Yes, it was a HUGE sun stamp, made by Judikins--LOVE it! Could this be the same sun that she stamped on an earlier "thinking of you" card? With great difficulty, I left the package to check that first card. That card was also done in shades of gold and navy--the sun was similar, only the one she sent me was even BIGGER! Was that card meant to be a clue as to the theme of my package, or did she decide on the theme after she found out how much I loved the card? I won't know (and neither will you) for several months. Go grab a drink--I'm just beginning! Then a found a rollograph with blue ink and the striped spheres wheel--what fun! (Have you guessed the theme yet?) Next, I opened a big, bulky package--sun shaped pasta--too cute! Then a navy Le Plume-of course I doodled with it right away. I spied some stickers through the tissue--a package of gold and silver glittery stars, and a package of holographic suns, moons and stars. (You really should have guessed the theme by now, but keep reading, there's more and you won't believe how how everything ties in so beautifully. I also found a package of celestial confetti (you fill in the colors)--how perfect, as I just bought a long pair of tweezers--now I can position those delicate blue moons. There's a star shaped Craft Punch (cool), a copper Cat's eye (says copper but looks gold--who cares, it's fab!), and a bottle of Stickles in gold (what a thoughtful SS--she knew that I don't like getting glitter all over me and she sent me a great alternative). Stay with me, we're almost there! There was a jar loaded with celestial charms in gold (too pretty to use), another jar of celestial EP from Angelheart's recipes (is this a clue--I didn't know Angelheart sold things)--can't wait to try it, and...you really won't believe this, but by now you should know that my SS is the QUEEN of coordinating themes--a box of deliciously scented soaps--a star, a sun, and a moon, in copper, gold, and silver!!! Is she incredible, or what? Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love EVERYTHING. I can't get over all the care and thought you put into creating this special gift. I'm not ready to take it out of the box--I have to keep it there a while and just look at my treaures. You should be in the business--or maybe you are? Is there a go-between who will mail a thank you card from me to you? (BTW, I lost my mail and with it your special itsasecret addy.) They letter code their clearance stuff so all stuff that was tagged F, G, H, I, J & K were 20 for $1.00. I usually find some neat do-dads in the bins, but this time I hit it BIG! There was a border tile stamp from Rubber Stampede in there with a K sticker! It's retail was originally $5.99! It's not the type of stamp that I would normally buy, but for a nickel I grabbed it! I'm sorry there was only one in the bin or I would have bought them all! I also got 5 packages of foam mounting dots (100 in a package) for a nickel each! I also got a cool skirt pin which will come in handy for a special card, and a small spray of calla lily flowers for a nickel! I am thrilled!!!!! The rest of the stuff was junky stuff that I didi think I'd ever use. So for 40 cents, I got a bunch of stuff that I can actually use! My father has this saying: Sometimes you get a deal, sometimes you get ripped off, but in the end it all evens out and when you die it doesn't even matter! He's a deal getter, but he's not a dickerer. So he gets his deals and he gets ripped off, but his attitude helps handle the rip offs. Actually, he's the one who told me about HALOS. I had no clue of what he was talking about, and when he was out visiting I dragged him 45 minutes to a stamp store (he bought me a GIANT corrugator!) he was talking to the lady who owned the store about the acrylic mount stick on stamps and she had no idea what he was talking about!!! Yes, stamping is not yet a big thing here... Maybe he'll get an idea and buy me a set! He'll find them somewhere and they will be 50% off and he will buy them! He always has this knack to find something that I need or like at a bargain! The last bargain was a Singer knitting machine for $25.00! I think that will be a winter project to work on! He's so cool! Sorry to ramble, but I wanted to share my good bargains! I had a good mail today. I got my SSS pkg!!! I love this...knew that Ellen of Addicted to Rubber was gonna be sending it to me as she was waiting on a special order, but she didn't say what. I had me suspictions...but decided to keep mum...glad I did! My suspictions bore fruit!! I got the Rollergraph wheel!! 4 wheels (tumblin' teddies, jelly beans, bon bons and Christmas Lights!! 2 ink cartridges, brown and purple. Two snickers for me and a couple of mini pkgs for the girls. Each one got a snickers, and a mini rollergraph from all night media. One is tigger and the other is pooh with baloon. I love what I got. I had some boxes for the box swap and immediately rollergraphed those! Even Naomi had a try at it...Too bad that Bekah is already gone to Oregon. The pkg came at a good time. I also got something else in the mail that i opened first and it was way bad news. Apparently my daughter misunderstood the bank and told me I had money that I didn't. short version...a check almost bounced and I had 3 others out that would bounce. Commenced to cryin' and gettin' upset with myself, then called my dad and he loaned me the money which I pay back next week out of my check. Felt a little better, but was still snifflin' so decided to see what was in the pkg from Ellen of addicted to rubber and the above is the result. By the time we got done playing with it...I felt so much better and calmed down enough to enjoy it and then got the energy I needed to get some much needed things done. Thanks for my RS family on here!! And a big big big big big THANK YOU to my SSS!! They are permanent markers. I can get 24 color set for $60.00 out here, but that's way too much. I do have the prismacolor blender marker, but no markers. We had the 125 color set when I worked at an ad agency and I loved them! But I don't work there anymore . . . boo, hoo. Please let me know. I'm so glad I finally had an opportunity to use my AIG. It was fun! Also thanks for all the other great swap cards you sent. Kimberly Dick kdick@mail.netshop.net made the cutest card ever! Well its actually cute and gorgeous all at the same time! First is white cardstock with a pretty layer of teal that has been Mickey punches on the four corners. Then A big Mickey stamp was embossed, cut out and attached to the teal layer. mickeys gloves, mouth, pants and shoes have been done up in AIG. This is really nice. Inside is a layer of bright yellow with a mickey punch and a stamp of Minne up top and Mickey on the bottom. Again, they have AIG on the,. There is also a nice verse inside. Pooh is on the back too. Way cool card Kimberly!! Inky paws aka Winabeth w smith12@juno.com made a beautiful postcard with diagonal layers of pastel AIG covering the card. The center has a nice verse and I am wondering if you glittered the verse or did you use transparent glitter and does the verse just appear glittered? This is too neat and I'm sorry if I'm not describing it well. There are also pretty blue AIG sun shapes on opposite coners of the card and pretty fushia stripes on the other two opposite corners. This is so deatailed. Beautiful work! Lori Blaauw Liblaauw@earthlink.net used lavender cardstock to make her postcard. The edges have a very thick border of ruby colored AIG. There is a blue layer in the center with an embossed and colored design in the center and an AIG heart in the very middle. Another beauty! Morrcatsnrubber used silver cardstock to create her masterpiece and it really is! There is a layer of deep red cardstock with a layer of black (trimmed in fiskars) and then another layer that is all AIG (pinky red) and then a final black layer on the very top. The layering in itself is beautiful. The top layer of black has the word JOY done in a purple blue AIG and then a big butterfly that was stamped on red and partially convered with AIG was attached to the top layer. This is so neat and I know my descriotion doens't do it justice. Wow! Linda Strawn straken@lda.net used a pretty blue cardstock for her card which has a big bag on the front. AIG had been used on the top of the bag and there is a note that says '3 wishes 4 you" There is also a magic wand done in silver AIG and 3 'coins' covered with gold AIG at the bottom. I love the idea of making coins from the wedding ring favors. I just bought a bag of these to make 1 special 50th wedding anniversary card (which is already painfully overdue!) and now I've got a creative use for all the other rings in the bag!Inside the card it sayd Happy Birthday and has places for wish 1, 2 and 3. Yet another really great card!! These cards are so fantastic!!! I feel like I kept using the same 'wonderful, beautiful and wow' words all over again but every one of these cards really is just incredible!!! Thanks to everyone, I love each and every card and will treasure all of them!
