From Tracy Yamamotio - She used a teddy bear stamp from Hero - this *she-teddy* is in a little pink pinafore - with patches - and has a button headband - so cute! Tracy cut this out with the Fiskars scallop edgers - mounted it on blue gingham back- ground apper then mounted it on light gray cardstock. In the corner, she's glued some buttons. The inside of the card is bordered on the botton with button stamps. She's also put a pretty sheer pink flat bow on the folded edge of the card - very cute and great work on the theme! Tina Starling - She used the DeNami butterflies and grass - stamped and embossed with silver on ivory cardstock - colored in with water colors - she's put a pink satin ribbon on the corner - the ribbon ends are knotted and finished off with heart buttons. Very nice and elegant! Tami32CA@aol.com - She used the little girl angel stamp from Rubber Stampede (I used that one also!) - however, HER card looks a lot better than the ones I did! She used lots of embellishments - glitter on the wings - a rhinestone on her collar - red, shiny hearts on the pinafore, dry embossing on the button garland and the bows in the angel's hair - Really nice touches! Then she cut out the image and mounted it on pink and white bow background paper, then on pink and white gingham paper and finally on the white card which has a fine line of pink around all the edges. She also glued a bow in one corner and buttons in another corner. Great job - lots of thought and work went into this! From C. Saldane (craftycks@aol.com) - I really like the simplicity of this - three buttons in the upper left corner - one has a twine *thread* through it - - stamped *For You* on the right hand side. Then she used a border stamp with buttons, patches and thread on pale green cardstock - cut and mounted on the lower half of the card - also glued a couple of real buttons on it. I really do like this! Linda Strawn - If you guys have never seen one of these - you're missing out on a real treat - It's the *Never Ending Card* and I JUST HAVE TO HAVE THE DIRECTIONS, Linda!!! Please e-mail them to me!! This would be a great way to put one over on those *oh-so-clever* grandkids! No matter how you open the card or which way you turn it, there's buttons and bows everywhere!! PLEASE SEND ME THE DIRECTIONS! And from our illustrious hostess - I think this is one of her Imaginations stamps - little girl on a swing - buttons on her dress and a bow in her hair. Lisa stamped and colored this on white cardstock - glued a green button on each corner and then layered it on dark green cardstock, then on even darker green cardstock - then she finished it off with a raffia bow in the upper left hand corner. As usual, great job - but then I'm always in awe of her creativity! Thanks for hosting, Lisa - keep on doing the swaps - you always have such a great response and draw so much talent from the lists! They are always telling me about the things that their mommys do for them. They always want to make things for mommy. I hear stories all the time about how beautiful their mommy is and how she always does the nicest things. At the beginning of school, I always have someone ask me "When is my mommy coming?" I am just glad that you mommys let us have your little darlings for a few hours a day. Just being able to teach them is a great reward for me. Jutta's directions were well written. I had no problem finding it. Thanks They have a Stuffed-to-the-brim area that is real fun to browse. There were so MANY things to see. My husband and son were with me because we had just dropped my oldest son off at his school, today being the first day for him. They were glad to see that the sign said the shop closed at 4pm on Sunday but they weren't too happy when Baggy said she was going to be there till 5 and I could look around. Yes, I met Baggy. She's younger and prettier than I thought she'd be :> and very nice too, but of course you all knew that already. I could have stood in one place for hours and looked at all the fun things they sell in their garden. The fantastic papers and EPs. I am just going to have to get some of those beautiful embossing powders! There were many stamps and inks that I have never seen in shops in Portland. I plan to stop by every time I go visit my son. Collage just happens to be her specialty so it was great seeing her *competition*! From RPetal1234@aol.com - Cool little jewelry gift box - the top of the box is collaged with a red heart stamp, *true friends* stamp, corrugated paper, tiny bow and red jewel stones - what a great idea for *gift wrapping* ! Amazing what stampers dream up! Sue Shotwell (Dustnthewind) - Great collage with a western theme - two horses stamp by Magenta stamped and colored on shrink plastic - collaged with gold metallic ribbon, kraft-paper with lantern-type cuts in it, mulberry paper, and feathers - this is all mounted on paper she's brayered more horse images on - then mounted on dark green cardstock. Wonderful use of textures and a beautiful card! From *JET* - a really *wow* money card! She/he has taken US currency wrapping paper and tissue paper to create a most unusual collage - also used coin and currency stamps embossed and layered onto the card - shredded money and a *$* sign stamp. To complete the effect, the card was in a handmade envy lined with the money paper! Great idea! Deni Johnson - Her collage is on dark green mounting board backgrounded with an herb stamp- pretty enough for framing! She used *herb* stamps from Stampington, Hampton Arts and Worth Repeating - All mounted beautifully atop herb stamped mulberry paper - this is just too pretty! You'd have to see it to appreciate it! Finally, from Carlene Czarnik - a very large postcard - or should I say an *invitation*? She combined sealing wax (from Judikins), stamps (PSX and Great Impressions, charms, mulberry paper, gift wrapping paper, postage stamp, and a tiny vellum envy with a provacative invitation in it (Meet me at 8:00?) - Given to the right person, this could be very seductive........ I know exactly what you are going through as our son started school last year with special speach classes and this year he started kindergarten. Anyway, on to the poem which we have on our child care web site. I have cut and pasted it below. If you would like a nicely formatted version, go to http://www.geocities.com/athens/6478/gently.html Mark _______________________ Teach Him Gently...If You Can.. My young son starts to school tomorrow... It's all going to be strange and new to him for a while, and I wish You would sort of teach him gently... You see, up to now, he's been our little boy. He's been boss of the backyard...His mother has always been around to repair his wounds, and I've always been handy to soothe his feelings. But now, things are going to be different... This morning he's going to walk down the front steps, wave his hand, and start out on the great adventure...it's an adventure that will probably include wars and tragedy and sorrow. TO live his life in the world he will live in requires faith and love and courage. So, world, I wish You would sort of take him by his young hand and teach him the things he will have to know. Teach him, but gently...if You can. He will have to learn, I know, that all are not just, that all are not true. But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero...for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader...Teach him that for every enemy, there is a friend. It will take time, world, I know, but teach him, if You can, that a nickel earned is of far more value than a dollar found...Teach him to lose...and enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if You can, and teach him the secret of quiet laughter. Let him learn early that bullies are the easiest people to lick...Teach him, if You can, the wonder of books...But also give him quiet time to ponder the eternal mystery of the birds in the sky, bees in the sun, and flowers on a green hillside. In school, world, teach him it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat...Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, even if everyone tells him they are wrong...Teach him to be gentle with gentle people and tough with tough people. Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone else is getting on the bandwagon...Teach him to listen to all men...But teach him to also filter all he hears on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through. Teach him, if You can, how to laugh when he is sad...Teach him there is no shame in tears...Teach him there can by glory in failure and despair in success. Teach him to scoff at the cynics and to beware of too much sweetness...Teach him to sell his brawn and brains to the highest bidder but never to put a price tag on his heart and soul. Teach him to close his ears to the howling mob...and to stand and fight if he thinks he's right. Teach him gently, world, but don't coddle him, because only the test of fire makes fine steel. Let him have courage to be impatient...let him have the patients to be brave. Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself...Because then he will always sublime faith in mankind. This is a big order, world, but you see what you can do...He's such a fine little fellow, my son! Sheila M.
