Stampin' Mahmah and I had a great time. After driving 6 hours from St. Louis we immediately headed for Stamp Your Art Out and were overwhelmed with the stamp selection. (Spending way too much money before we even got to the convention!!) We attended classes Friday night (Mahmah a backgrounds class and a tips class by Mary Jo McGraw for me). The convention was fabulous -- and overwhelming. We worked for Gary Burlin and Company and were paid in product!! What could be better than to get paid for talking about stamps?!?!? (In fact, I think I learned more than I shared that day.) I'm not sure I could pick a favorite booth -- there were so many great ones. DeNami was wonderful as was the Curtis Uyeda booth. Let's hope I can remember all the great tip and techniques that were shared with me. We met Giggles and SammiLynn at the VLVS booth and had a lively dinner with the rest of gang after the convention. It was wonderful to meet June, Vikki, Stampin' @ Midnight, Piglet, Ruthanne, Rosemarie, Belinda, StamperCat, Melinda and Coastie Wife to name a few ... We had a great time at Giggle's and her cheese cake is to die for!!! I love being able to sit at the computer and put faces to my friends on the list. Mahmah and I couldn't leave Cincy without another stop at SYAO -- of course buying more stamps... It was a wonderful weekend!!! Watch out Cincy -- Mahmah and I will be back next year... I got wonderful cards! Glenyce- Glenyce used a pretty pink swirled postcard with the corners rounded. In the upper left corner, 2 holes are punched and a turquoise ribbon is tied through. She used the phrase: Hope you're feelin' great soon. The lower half of the card has been Stamped? using blues, purples and pink. Very interesting. She then has some pretty , very fine shreds of holographic tinsel topped off with a cut out heart stamped with the same blue, pink and purple. Very pretty. Carole made a lovely card using the same pink card as Glenyce. She used the words: May good health be yours again soon, at the top and 2 clusters of roses at the bottom, which she has colored in red. The pink card is covered completely with vellum and in the center, she has stamped and ep'd with silver, a rose with the words: for you. the bottom has green ribbon braided through both layers. Very interesting and pretty idea. CV- At least I think that is the initials on back of card. this person has used pink stock and made a foldover type postcard. On the fold flap a beautiful corner punch has been used. I'm sorry I don't know which one :-( The edge has 2 stamped Band-Aids extending and the edge cut away. this is a cute idea. Under the flap is stamped: get well soon. This is a cute card and a neat idea. Cindy P. has used a smaller than usual glossy card. On the front she has stamped a cute mouse in bed, looking rather sick, with an ice bag on it's head! so cute. Inside: sorry you're feeling blue...get well soon. This is adorable.. I have received several of Cindy's swap cards and she always has such wonderful ideas. Beth and Mark have out done them selves. this is such a cute card. I sure wish my hubby would stamp with me,(grin) He just gives me static! they have made a pop up card using the I'm sick man from Artistic Stamp Exchange. He is sitting in a chair with a rather red nose, holding a box of tissues and a teddy bear. He is wearing bunny slippers! Around on the floor are several tissues and a waste can overflowing. The walls are real wall paper and stamped and layered window, complete with lace curtains, fastened back. also have a picture on the wall, computer graphics, which says home sweet home. the front of the card has a layer of dark gray cardstock which has been stamped and ep'd with glittery blue: Feel better soon. I love it...must have this stamp. and last but not least is our hostess-Stampin' joy. She has made an adorable envelope card which is covered with heart band-aids, stamped with a multicolored pad, of pink, purple , blue and green. Inside she has a little girl whose holding a REAL Band-Aid. This is stamped and cut out and layered onto white paper with pink dots over all. In the lower right corner is: Get well soon stamped in blue. This envelope is fastened shut with pink ribbon threaded through heart shaped punches! I never have seen an envelope card and this is such a wonderful idea! Diane has really made a cute card here and I had the pleasure of going to her house and stamping with her to complete my swap cards. she is alot of fun to work with! Mine and Mary's card arrived safely in the priority box..thankyou for the time it took to do this extra precaution. these are great. Mary and I received 3 of the same cards, so I'll describe for us both. Sheryl's card is so cute. she has used a postcard decorated as a room. Real wall paper with swirled metallic paisley. Looks like wood floor done with a rollergraph. she has a bud vase stamped and raised out, ...it has silk flowers in it! Sitting beside the vase is a very contented kitten, using 3 layers for the head and 2 for the body and 3 for the tail. she has used the gel to raise the images and it does afford more flexibility. the kitty has a heart button with a bell around it's neck... inside she has the words: Merry everything and happy always! such a cute idea. This one has no name but it is elegant. This person has used a dark green card on which is a woven basket full of daffodils. the leaves and flowers are done in multiple layers. very pretty. It looks like colored card stock was used for each separate item= , in appropriate colors thus eliminating the need to color...I like this idea! pretty card. Penny g. has made a very cute card with loads of detail! She has used a country style door on the front, which really opens. insi= de is a lovely country scene of a girl standing in front of a white picket fence with a basket of flowers, admiring a huge sunflower. the girl is done in varying levels of multiples as are the individual flowers at her feet and the basket of flowers she holds. t= he fence is raised out with foam tape and she has used gel or hot glue? and foam tape to mold out the layers of leaves on the sunflower. the last layer of the big sunflower has liquid appliqu=E9 in the center. This is a gorgeous card and took tons of time and painful cutting! thankyou so much. Now the other 3items I received are as follows: Janine made a layered post card starting with white, then a fancy cut dar= k green and then a smaller white square and finally a scene of frogs in the moonlight, eyeing fireflies. She has raised out the frogs in several layers and also some of the leaves of the plants and the tiny wings of the flies. This is very realistic looking and a very interesting card. I like this one. Lindaloo has used corrugated brown cardboard and cut a frame in the cente= r. she has used a stained glass flower stamp and raised out some of the leaves and the petals in multiple layering.=20 this is very pretty. The flower feels so soft to touch but it is subtly layered. Very real looking. What did you use to raise the petals out? Kathy W has made a beautiful strawberry magnet mounted onto real wood veneer. The berries and leaves and a blossom are raised o= ut in layers but shaped so nicely. The berries really look rounded. the center of the blossom has a bud of g= el with yellow glitter on it. very pretty item. This swap has offered a very interesting array of ideas to persue. thankyou all for giving me food for thought! This time my "dear" friends at the Brazilian Customs were TTPO'ed LOL! They opened the pizza box Devon mailed me to find... a card LOL! She had actually stated on a label outside that it contained a card only BUT OF COURSE they didn't believe it LOL! I wish I had seen their faces hee... hee...(aren't I such an angel??? LOL!) They're probably still scratching their heads!!!!!!! ROTFL!!!! Thanks a bunch Devon for a lovely surprise in the mail and such a good laugh :) And the card Devon sent me was great! On marbled paper she stamped clouds and a Rilke's quote (I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections and the truth of imagination" :)Then she embossed a couple on a horse as if they were flying against the cloudy sky :) and mounted it on foam tape! I have this image in a larger size :) What a beautiful card :) Thank you thank you thank you :) Love and sunshine always :) Stampcas :) This message was from Stampcas - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
