Good AM, Well, I had a fun night! Just got home from the hospital, where I spent the night under observation. I have a concussion and a very pretty color dark green and red bruise on my leg! Wasn't funny last night, but I think it's pretty funny now, so I thought I'd share! Went house hunting with my sis and future BIL last evening. My DH is a building inspector for the city and they wanted him along to check out the houses. So, where he goes Tyler & I goes! Went to a house that had a p-o-o-l (yes, we have to spell it) and I decided it would be a wise idea not to let Tyler see the p-o-o-l, cuz he thinks every p-o-o-l is his and "let's go swimming!" I take him & the niece & nephew across the street to a park to let them play. They're having lots of fun and I'm having fun watching them have fun! Well, Tyler decides he wants to climb one of those sphere shaped jungle gyms, so I run over to stand guard. He's only 3 and to my knowledge has never been on one of these things before, you know . . . better safe than sorry. LOL!! All of a sudden I'm on the ground and Tyler is on top of me. He was over my head and I guess he missed a rung and down he came and down I went! I hit my head on one of the steel posts and have no idea what I hit my leg on. Tyler was fine, picked himself up, brushed the dirt off his legs and proceeded onward to play some more! I thought I was fine until about an hour later when I got this horrible headache, got dizzy (don't even think about saying it!), blurry vision, and felt very nauseous. Everyone decided that I needed to go to the hospital and that's where I spent the night! They're such fun places, aren't they??? Anyhow, I 'm okay . . . supposed to be resting for the next few days (yeah, right!) and go my MD on Tuesday for a follow-up! Did you ever think if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all?? That's how I feel right now! Oh well, I really do think it's funny! Hope Linda and PeterPan are happy - they deserve to be. My Dad's recovering from the heart attack, but my Mom's dementia is getting worse, and we're working on finding a nursing home for her. In the meantime, I'm living out of a suitcase at my parents' place, to lighten Dad's load in the evenings and on weekends, so I only get to check my email briefly in the mornings (deep sigh), and have to try to squeeze my stamping into short periods here and there. I miss you guys fiercely, but don't know when I'll be back. I've received soap from Sandy Lemon (LemonTree Soaps), my monthly exotic paper package and a special order of gorgeous Thai marbles and Nepalese Lakta from Pam Lunsford (Greycat Stamping Stuff), a big Stampin' Up order from Margie Klodnicki including the magnificent new catalog, and probably a wonderful order of UMs from Linda Malcolm-Lim (Stamp Out Cute) - at least, there's a "package awaiting Customs dues" notice from the local post office in my mailbox this morning and I'm eagerly awaiting my first big SOC order. I also got a small but delightful supplement from Beth Wilts of Above The Mark with more elegant medieval/fantasy maidens similar to Third Coast and Non Sequitur. Wish I was back on the list, reading about what interesting stamping companies and techniques and news and humour y'all are discussing. Feel free to drop me a line any time! Sorry to be late posting this, I've written this longhand and my honey is typing and sending it for me. Life's Little Instructions Swap Descriptions: Take time to smell the flowers: Phyllis Ingram stamped a rose-trellis archway and garden bench on glossy white cardstock w/Paintbox Ink in silver, gold, copper and bronze, then heat embossed with a clear EP that has the slightest touch of rainbow glitter. Simple elegance! Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures: Karla Williams layered a variety of papers types in neutral colors and accented each piece with a soft touch of hand-coloring. On a light card, she first adhered a small-corrugated cardboard rectangle, barely blushed with sky blue. The quote is printed on a paper-edged oval that has been randomly cloud stenciled and placed off-center. The focal point is striking, Karla stamped a large sun in black ink, colored it with markers in warm shades (I'm guessing here) of yellow, golden wheat, burnt orange and raw sienna and place it off center, opposite of the quote. Nice layout and color choices! Never give up on a dream because of the length of time it will take to accomplish it, the time will pass anyway: Linda Newman's card is gold-edged white cardstock with a flower wreath stamped on the front, which she heat embossed with gold EP and hand-colored all the individual blossoms with markers. Inside is a matching, folded, card-sized piece of vellum on which she printed the quote. Two 1/8" holes are punched in the fold, through both the card and vellum, with a wispy gold 3/4" wide ribbon holding the two layers together. The ribbon is a very nice choice to accent this card, looks like it was woven of sunshine. Trust your heart and follow your dreams: Devon started with red cardstock, added a slightly smaller rectangle of white background paper with tiny red hearts, then another smaller rectangle of red paper and finally a smaller rectangle of white glossy paper on which she stamped the quote in red ink. Also in red ink, she stamped a squiggle design to the left and right of the quote and above it, a funky line drawing is stamped of a gal with a cup of coffee. The steam from the mug is accented with red glitter EP. Great idea! Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of someone else. --Judy Garland: Laurie Morrison started with a bluish lavender cardstock which is textured with what looks like silver embossed brush marks... (Interesting background, Laurie, please tell us how you did this!!???!! Is it a texture stamp?) A torn piece of darker tissue paper is placed high and off-center , then topped , low and off-center, with a smaller rectangle of silver tooling metal. The quote is stamped on this and heat embossed in black. I love silver and purple together! She clipped the 2-right corners of the bace card with a decorative corner punch. On the left side, she punched 2 small diamond shapes through which she threaded and tied into a bow, a softly sparkled piece of cord. I've even had the priveledge of working with a couple of great ladies on this list! (hi ladies!) I hope we all get to hook up at some point! (maybe at the Alternative show in Bellvue in October!) I knew all 'bout cochineal and that bein' bugs.., I used to spin too.. not WELL mind you, but.. I did.. did that natural dying thing too. been years past though.. but my first reaction was.. no way they're puttin' bugs in food.. bugs in food? no way! so.. I searched the internet (in vain, til I found out how to spell cochineal.. rofl! I surely do love wwwebster.. ) and.. first thing I found was some gal askin' where she could buy some of these bugs for a 19th century recipe she had and wanted to try.. and.. folks told her! I was rofl some more! So.. then I poked around a bit more.. and.. sure 'nuff, looks like they're puttin' bugs in our red food! who knew? not me! so.. I pondered gettin' all upset 'bout that. but.. I gave that up.. I figure I been eatin/drinkin' red things for 41 years now.. and.. I 'spect those bugs are less bad for me than some of the other things they've used to make things red in the past, what have since been proven to be carcinogens.. and.. well, I can't TELL there's bugs in my juice.. so.. I decided to forget about it. specially since I don't much drink juice anyway, and when I do, it's rarely red.. anno This message was from "anno" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. OOPS I was just informed that the dangerous virus warning I posted to the group was not true. I feel quite embarressed and beg your forgiveness. I had never heard about this hoax and when a good friend received the warning and also was as naive about it as I was, we thought it was true. According to the latest info on virus', no virus can be loaded onto your hard drive simply by opening and/or reading e-mail. Thanks to Chatty I stand corrected. She helped me by referrring me to a couple of sites that keep track of virus hoaxes. I share them with you in case there is another one out there as naive as I have been, we can check out their validity first. Here they are: CIAC Internet Hoaxes: http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html Don't Spread That Hoax: http://www.nonprofit.net/hoax/hoax.html Computer Virus Myth's Home Page: http://kumite.com/myths/ And lastly, Yahoo's page on the subject (lots of links): http://www.yahoo.com/Society_and_Culture/Mythology_and_Folklore/Urban_Lege nds/ Sorry!
