For some reason she doesn't reply when someone e-mails her. Most of us understand when someone has problems, so all we need is for the person to let us know. If you are hostessing a swap and someone e-mails you about it, the best thing is to answer. Same with when you sell over the List. If a customer e-mails you about their order you need to answer. If you're having problems and have to be off the List for a while ast least e-mail the List and say so. Then people won't be alarmed about anything. I went out of town for the weekend Friday morning and came home to find a lovely package full of goodies Monday night (and yes, I did ask a neighbor to look for it so it wouldn't spend the weekend on my porch). I couldn't open it right away because we came home to a very sick kitty. We had to take her to the Veterinary ER - turns out she's severely diabetic. She was a stray 2 years ago (at 10 years old) and has probably had a mild case of diabetes for the past 2 years! We didn't notice a change in behavior b/c she came that way! She's very large (has been on light food ever since we got her) and has never been very energetic - since we didn't have her prior to this we had no way of knowing that at one time she was full of energy! I still feel very bad but we've taken her to the vet several times in the past 2 years and they never picked it up. It was even mentioned as an associated problem with overweight cats but they didn't suggest that we do the screen ... Anyway, she was almost in a coma when we got home. After a very long night - she's much better today but will spend tonight at our regular vet's :-(. I finally got to open the package this morning and was overwhelmed with stamps along with a wonderful aroma that ended up being from the gardener's soap. Funny thing is that I bought some similar soap in the mountains for a neighbor for watching our cats while we were away and really wanted one for myself but didn't want to spend the money!!!! I love all of the stamps!!! I don't have a "from my garden" stamp but often give gifts that use ingredients from my garden and now I can make tags that say so! The iris is beautiful - I'll have to check out that company. I bought 3 iris rhizomes for my garden just this weekend - so this will be great for my garden journal - a little smaller than the iris stamp that I have so it won't fill the whole page and I can write notes beside it. The onion post is great too. I also like the sunflower stamp - we grow sunflowers (by accident from feeding the birds) too so that can decorate my garden journal also. I'm forgetting one of the stamps - I only had a few minutes between taking my cat to the vet and getting ready for work and am blanking ... I love artnic - and will definitely use the stamp pads - I assume they are pigment ink? What cool containers - they fit so nicely in your hands. I also love the Marvy embossing marker - I have some dual emboss markers and love to color directly on stamps with them - I don't think they have a burgundy color - which is one of my favorites! Also, it will be lovely to outline the iris stamp with - one of the iris rhizomes that I bought this weekend is a wine/burgundy color! As you also know, I really like butterflies and the gold butterfly embellishment is beautiful - now to let myself use it! I think I will use the sandalwood bath stuff to relax with tonight (after we go to visit the cat before the vet closes for the evening). I can't wait to start reading the new mystery that you sent. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the ones that you sent last month. Are the garden mysteries a series? I didn't get a chance to look at it too closely - I'm sure it's not "too soft". Thanks again for the wonderful garden package! It couldn't have come on a better day! Forgive me if I forgot anything, as I mentioned I didn't have much time this morning! Here goes the descriptions: From Sherri S - a blue card with yellow lined paper (like a writing tablet sheet) on the front...there are 3 little checkered squares mounted on the lined paper. One has an apple on it, one has a bow, one has a carrot. "A B C" is written down the side in blue ink. There is a little button in the corner and some colored raffia attached to the side. This is very cute...I am going to show it to my sister in law who is a brand new teacher! From Janet Anderson - a turquoise color card with a bow cut into the top and a flower cut into the bottom of the card...both are embossed in white...very neat looking! The middle of the card is cut out and replaced with gold and white checked paper. Inside says "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you! Great card Janet..I really like how you cut out the bow and flower!! From Teresa O'Brien Durn - Adorable birthday card...there is red and white checked paper mounted on a white card. On top of that is a piece of blue and white paper..."Happy Birthday" on a piece of white...stamped in rainbow ink and either covered with EP or crystal laquer (not sure which)...there is a bear holding his hands up (he is also all shiny) and 3 little shiny balloons. Teresa put the tiniest little ribbons on the balloons..this is VERY cute!! From Lynne Legge - A white card with light blue checked paper mounted on it. There is a piece of dark blue corrugated paper with "Thanks a melon" mounted on top of it. In the bottom corner are 3 little melon slices...embossed in gold and colored in. Inside says "With thanks for all you've done" in green ink....and the Kleiben (?) cat in the corner eating watermelon...great little stamp!!! From Val Kildaw - A white card with checkered sunflower paper on the front. I the middle is a round piece of paper..cut with decorative scissors...says "Thank you" in green and yellow. There is a little jute ribbon in the upper corner. The bottom edge is cut with decorative scissors, and then more of the sunflower paper shows thru the bottom. Very cool card Val! The host, Linda, enclosed a little "Thank Ewe" card with the swap cards...has some black and white checked paper in the corner, with a little sheep stamp and a red rose. Who makes that tiny little rose stamp?? Thanks all...these cards are great!! My son is off to school Kimberlee... Today we took 2 1/2-year old Annie to her first day of pre-school (like Aaron, for 3 days a week). We visited last week, and she had a wonderful time, so I'm sure she'll love it--but it was so hard. We signed her in, put all her things away, and took her outside to the play area where she immediately started climbing on all the gym stuff. She's not very good in group play yet--that will come--but she seemed to be having a good time. The key moment was when the teacher called all the 2 year olds to go inside--and we watched as Annie followed the others without so much as a look back at us. Inside she went immediately to a puzzle, and the teacher told us it would be best if we just slipped out. That she would cry when she realized we were gone, but it would be over soon. The hardest thing was walking out that door. I almost made it to the car before I started crying...and now the house seems so empty. Yes, there's SO much I can do in this quiet time--like really put things away, work on my writing, even exercise. But she has taken that first step out of the nest, and she'll never really come all the way back. It's a very, very mixed feeling. I am so grateful to have this quiet time to myself...something I haven't had in 2 1/2 years...but oh how I miss her. (And yes, if she really loves it we'll try to get her in 5 days a week when space opens up.) My son is off to school My mom was asked about that type of thing when I left for college etc. and her relpy was (paraphrasing here) that yes, she was sad and she was going to miss me, but she was happier that she had raised such an intelligent, independent woman. She once told my sister and I that she had kids so that she could hopefully raise them to be valuable citizens, not so that they would stick around home to take care of her (she is blind). So, you still felt slightly sad, but you should be happy too. Everyone deserves some time to themselves, and unfotunatly it is usually the mom in the family that sacrifices that the most, now you can regain some of it and that will probably also help you to be a better mother because you'll have more patience etc. because you'll feel better about yourself etc. etc. etc. Just my 2 cents! But, don't feel bad about being glad your child is going to school - chances are if you are excited the child will be too and it won't be so traumatic. I got RAK'd by Lori today!!! VERY cute card...fit right in with the checkered paper swap I got today!!! It is a beige card with a brownish piece of paper on the front...the brown piece is lined around the edges with a fine black pen...looks like stitching kinda! There are 3 squares of checked paper...green, tan, and red...then a birdhouse mounted above the checked papers. In the corner is a jute ribbon. Inside says "Take time to enjoy life's simple joys". Thanks much Lori..I really like this card!! Jaimee :) This message was from Olyvia29@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. My son is off to school Hi~ You know... I think its different for me because Im chronically ill and have had to depend on my parents and daycare to help me with Aaron. This is not his first time away from home or me. Actually, when he was 7 months old (I was still breastfeeding), I had a heart attack and needed hospitalization and a lot of medication changes. My parents had to take Aaron for 3 months (they lived 4 hours away from us at the time) to live with them so that I could get better. That was very hard for me and my husband. Since then my health has gotten worse so we are all used to him having to go to daycare. I intergrated him into daycare about a year ago (3 days a week) because he is an only child and because we found with my being so sick, he was starting to act to adult-like. I wanted him to be with other kids and learn to be a kid again. I dont know many 3 year olds (his age at the time) that would come and sit with their mommy while she is sick on the toilet and run and bring her ice packs, he was reminding me to make my medications and stuff like that. He's a wonderful caring little boy and it saddened me to watch the way his world was so different that other children his age. The preschool for him is very exciting and makes him feel very big!! He is very proud that he is going to school. I took him out of daycare about 3 months ago and he really needs to be other kids again (yes, he gets on my nerves pretty regularly!LOL). I read the comment about your daughter taking a big step and not being able to go back. That really struck me. Your very right. I will miss dearly my toddler who depended on us for everything. For me who can never have more children it is a step for me too, Im out of the baby/toddler stage of motherhood forever. This makes me very sad (oh great, now the tears start rolling!!! WAH). As much as it makes me sad, it makes me want to be excited for Aaron because he has been waiting to be "big" for so long. The start of school is a very big deal to him and he is beside himself with joy that its finally his turn. (oh course he's more excited about the fact that we take the bus to get to school!LOL). Thanks for your reply, I really like to see how other Mommys think about this big event! your friend, Kimberlee (and Aaron too) - -----Original Message----- From: Paula Sigman Lowery To: Kimberlee Dick ; rubberstampers@crafts.dm.net Date: Tuesday, September 02, 1997 12:55 PM Subject: Re: RS: YAH!!!!
