It was great!!! You walked a path that wound through a bunch of ponds/tanks with 'gators of various ages. Then the last area was the adult/nesting area. If you went in July the females were still guarding their nests (the eggs had been removed a while ago, but their brain is the size of a pea!) and as the group would round the corner the females would charge at the fence making a roaring sound. You could always tell when the crowd got to that area by the screaming! Of course the guy always fed them, but they use Nutria, a rodent that is plentiful in LA swamps. They also raise turtles for their meat and they have some beauties they used for breeders. It was always fun and you couldn't help but learn a little about these interesting animals. Next time - got to the Alligator Farm, you might enjoy it! I miss my yearly visit. Now, you may ask, how could such a small rope attached to a small stake in the ground hold a HUGE elephant? Well, when the elephant is small, it holds them just fine. They learn that they cannot get away and they stop trying to. So when they are adults (and they could easily break away if they tried to) the same small rope holds them. I saw this on a documentary on elephants in India and I thought there was a moral here for us. SOPHIA STAMPIA >( o o )< V Appreciating the wisdom of rubber! You use a pen and ink (like calligraphy) to draw (or in my case, trace) a design on parchment paper. Then you embellish it by dry embossing, which creates a raised, white area and/or perferating designs with a needle tool. You can also add color by painting, using colored pencils or oil pastels. It's hard to explain without seeing it. I posted a note a couple days ago that I had finally gotten some images up on the web - the second and third card are Pergamano. You can see them at: http://people.delphi.com/batmom/cards.html This page isn't finished, I need to add text to explain the techniques used in these cards. The images are too big and it takes a LONG time to load, but this will give you an idea of what it looks like. Let me know if you have any questions. I would like to share what an incredible wonderful hubby I have!!! My girlfriend from Tucson is here staying with us, the month of her staying is nearing the end:-( We paid for her ticket to come out here with her newborn son (our godson) because her hubby is going through air force basic training and she is very sad without him. Well Last week, he took all three of our kids to the beach all day! when they came home he bought us each a dozen roses, one for her...via her husband.. and one for me:-) Then the next day he watched all FOUR kids (including her baby) so we could go to San francisco and Alcatraz for the day!!!!! Then he actually wrote me a note....now wives you no what I'm saying here when hubby usually does something and doesn't tell us...well mine actually DID!!!!! THEN now it even gets better....he is paying for me and my friend to go to a spa in Calistoga saturday for a two hour mud body wrap and full body massage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY AWESOME!!!!! So I am PLEASE requesting you wonderful ladies to make him cards, (he likes my stamping by the way!!), he really deserves it. I will make you a thank you card in return!!! Got a terrific card in the mail yesterday from Ginny Newman (one of my monthly swap friends). I love this rainbow colored cardstock and the stamp and the verse. "It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow", is stamped across the top and the figure in black of a person with their arms stretched upwards. Can't describe the figure stamp well. But, this card is very good! I love it.
