It was instilled in him that he had a duty. To marry and have a heir. This seems to be what he was doing when he married Diana. I think he thought her young and easy to mold into a suitable future Queen, but she had a lot more spirit than any of them realized. In Charles favor, I do have to say that stuffy and totally immersed in tradition that he is, I really don't think he is as cold and unfeeling as a lot of people say. I think he is a good Father and loves the boys. But like most everyone else, I think the Royal Family gave up a diamond when they put Diana out of the Family. She could have been a big asset to them. And then the later the package is, the harder it is to mail off. Angel packages are wonderful, but "stuff" (as great as stamping stuff is) can never erase the hurt of "my secret stamper doesn't like me." And that IS how you feel. I think the only thing that feels worse is having a Secret Stamper who won't post about your packages. I had one of those the time I played rather than administered. She had to be asked each and every time to please post. THEN you feel like "my Secret Stamper hates what I sent." I further think that those SS participants who find themselves in a temporary bind have a real trouble admitting that to anyone, thinking they can swing it somehow. And then they get caught in the "so hard to do once it's so late" thing. If there was anything we, as administrators, could MAKE people do, it would be to come to us early with any potential problem, and to try to put their SS receiver's feelings above their own pride. I think too, it is our preoccupation with "feelings" that keeps us from dropping people as fast as maybe we should. The very nature of this swap makes us all so ego-involved with it. We put pieces of ourselves in each package we send out. And we receive pieces of our senders in each we receive. When things don't work right, it's like pieces of our souls being hurt. Which does nothing to help anything, but those are my thoughts on it. It's never too late to send that late package. It's never too early to ask us for help. Just think of that "my Secret Stamper doesn't like me" on either end of the equation... it hurts. Don't be a part of that hurt. ========================================================================= Janet Detter Margul | Real women don't have hot flashes... At least half of them are a yard or more. Most of the rest are at least a foot but, there are also some smaller pieces. I am just cleaning up and posting as I come across things. I would like $15 for this including postage. Anyone interested??? There is also lace in this grabbag and some of the ribbon is wire edged. She has had several issues in her life and has definately exceeded what anyone else in similar situations would have done. She has been great. On the other hand, I have not been a perfect nor wonderful SSS but I have sent several packages that I spent a great deal of effort in collecting items for (not with the degree of skill my SS has shown me) but the best I have been able to do given my life right now. Each and every package I sent contained goodies far exceeding the $20 threshold. Yes, I recognize that the $$ are not the issue, but when packages are not acknowledged, it really takes the fun out of it. I don't expect a blow by blow account of each and every item....but a nice "Thank You" would go along way. It makes it kind of tough to get motivated to send another package. Janet: was the SS round for 6 months or a year???? I thought it was a year but then with the additional round, I got confused. Let me know...quite honestly, I hope it was for 6.
