Through history the royals have had marital problems just like everybody else. I sincerely doubt that the queen condones Charles' actions in regards to Camilla. What should she do? Perhaps beheading would be proper (okay, maybe that's going a bit too far), but seriously what could she really do about it? It would be great if our children always did what we wanted, but especially after a certain age, they have to decide for themselves. If we are lucky, they follow the route we have been teaching all their lives. Sometimes it just doesn't happen. (LONG) Found the question ref. sainthood rather interesting, and did some research this afternoon. I am not of the Catholic faith myself, but the following is taken from "A Catholic Encyclopedic Dictionary and Biblical Reference Guide." . This is not sent to start any theological debate/discussion on the subject of sainthood ... it's merely provided for information for those who are interested. For those who are not interested, delete now SAINTS: The deceased who share in the fullness of the Kingdom of God. Those officially designated as saints are recognized as having led most examplary lives while on erath. Through the process of beatificuation and canonization they are presented to the living members of the Church as examples and models of Christian growth. This practice of imitation of the saints stems from the earliest centures of the Church. The intercession of the saints is also a means of growth in the faith. The living members of the Church are called saints (holy ones) in the New Testament. Mentioned in Scriptures: I Sm 2: 9 2 Chr. 6: 41 I Cor. 6:43 Rom. 8:27 Eph. 6: 18 II Cor. 1: 1 1 Cor. 2: 2 VENERABLE: A title given to one who, by papal degree, has been declared heroically virtuous and whose sanctity has been proved. It is a preliminary step toward the beatification and and ultimate canonization of the subject BEATIFICATION: The permission granted by the Holy See (see Note #1, below) to publicly venerate a deceased person whose life on earth was extremely virtuous, or who died a heroic death for Christ or His Church. It is, in effect, a statement by the Church that the deceased is regarded as dwelling in heaven. Before beatification takes place, the Chruch judicial authorities must examine thoroughly the life, virtues, and writings of the candidate, and must establish definitely the occurrence of at least two authentic MIRACLES performed through the candidate's intercession with God. If the findings are favourable, the person is declared "blessed" and limited public devotion can be held in his/her honour. Beatification is the second preliminary action to actual canonization. CANONIZATION: The decree of judgement by the Church, given in a Papal Bull (see Note #2, below), that one already beatified is to be regarded as a saint and to be venerated everywhere. Proof of two miracles through intercession must first be accepted as having occurred after beatification. The celebration of canonization is held at St. Peter's in Rome. NOTE #1 - HOLY SEE: The episcopal see of Rome. The title more commonly refers to the pope and all the Roman Congregations, Tribunals, and offices, which comprise the government of the whole Catholic Church. NOTE #2 - PAPAL BULL: The most formal official document issued by the pope. It is writtten on strong parchment and bears the signatures of the pope and certain members of the papal chancery. It receives its name from the lead or gold seal, called, the "bulla", which bears a representative of SS. Peter and Paul on one side and the reigning pope on the other. This seal is attached to the document by a silken cord if the bull is one of grace, and by a hempen cord if it is a bull of justice. Ant Judy H. Live, love, laugh. That doesn't mean that you have to "Kiss the sender's a**" as someone else said. It just means that you give your sender some feedback. If the sender is way off base about what you like, she needs to know so she can correct it. Some SS's are rather reticent about what they like or what they want when they fill out the questionnaire. I guess they're afraid of being thought greedy. The trouble with that, though, is it puts the sender in the position of needing to be psychic. So, while having paroxysms of joy over every box is not necessary, some feedback is, not to mention the need for simple politeness, which is, I think, in pretty short supply in our society today. (I will now step down from my soapbox). Pat Glenn Pat Glenn This message was from "Patricia D.
