Back from vacation, and it was GREAT! I brought along a big bunch of stamping stuff and spent several cloudy/rainy afternoons (as happens often in Florida) making cards and having fun! I played with my watercolors (my 8-color Crayola set) and had so much fun...I have to learn more about this! Anyone have any recommendations for the "next level" of watercoloring? I did some collages and made some thank you cards and such. Got back yesterday and talked to my mom--she lent my Aunt Bernie and her friend Sister Rita (both are nuns) some stamping stuff while they were rained in on their vacation--and they got hooked! They made a trek to A.C. Moore (craft store up there in NJ) and bought some stamps and supplies of their own! RIF YWBA (Resistance Is Futile, You Will Be Assimilated)! I got to stop at 2 different stamp stores on my vacation--Stamp Street Station in Sarasota and Tamp-A-Stamp in Tampa. I also visited Pearl Art Supply across the street from Tamp-A-Stamp. Thanks to the listees who recommended these places--they are all quite good! Both the stamping stores are smallish but have nice selections of stuff. Pearl gets extra thumbs up for excellent PSX and ANM selections WITH discounted prices! They also had a great assortment of paper but sadly, very little in stock as they are about to move to another location in Tampa and haven't been restocking. I will have to check out the Pearl in Atlanta! Oh, here's a question: I got a rockin' cool Laurel Burch Christmas tree stamp at Pearl, but I haven't seen it in my (current) ANM catalog--is that an older stamp or a very new one? Glad to be back, glad I seem to have missed several big flamewars! I might as well spend it ....... talking. :) And ... oh yeah, I have a cell phone, too ... but I mostly only use it for local calls :) ... I get lonely ... what am I **supposed** to do???? besides talk to **you**?? I don't expect the great rates will last forever. But, while we have them, I'm gonna enjoy them to the fullest! Know what else? My son is at university, only about 120 miles from here ... and it costs just as much/little to call him as it does to call "internationally" to the States .. go figure! And ... it's great fun, sneaking around ... getting ahold of stamper's phone numbers, without them knowing ... and then ring ... ring ... ring .... you're outta bed at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning (hahah ... Of course I do!!! So, I got 4 free pencils and a blender pen. It works nicely to smooth out the pencils on the paper, removing any of that graininess and blending the colors nicely. I tried using a Dove Blender with my pencils and it didn't seem to work as well as the prismacolor blender. I saw the Dove Blender demo'ed and so far I can't make it work for anything.... YMMV... Uh oh... I have recently read your "review" of the Rubber Stampers E-Mail list. On the basis of only 24 hours, you have made a judgement, not only on a "list", but on 500+ stampers that you didn't take the time to get acquainted with. What you might see in 24 hours, would hardly even begin to reflect the discussions on tips, techniques and the whole world of stamping that our R/S list encompasses, much less get to know any of the rich and diverse mixture of personalities and cultures that comprise our list. Twenty-four hours on "our" list, and then feeling yourself qualified to make an "assessment" would be the same as if I went to the airport and watched a Concorde take off, and then told everyone I had been to Europe. BTW, the messages are waaaayyyy over 100 per day ... We are similar in many ways to a huge family; our list has reached out in compassion and with action to those who have had some heartaches and hardships along their life journey, and many of us have been the recipients of kindnesses from our co-listers that would touch the coldest of hearts. I'm happy that you think you've found your niche. If you ever intend to re-sub to the Rubber Stampers E-Mail list, you might benefit by sticking around for longer than a day, to see what we're "really" about ... Until you know what we're really all about, perhaps you should restrict your comments to those subjects about which you do have knowledge. Ant Judy H. Live, love, laugh. >>A few days ago I subscribed to the Rubberstampers mailing list, since I've enjoyed this one so much, I figured more would be even better,eh? You get alot more e-mail, more like 100+, but I was very disappointed in the content of most postings. It seemed to be about 90% just TANS. So 24 hours was enough for me. Just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate this group, its much more informative and helpful. Keep up the good work everyone! And thanks for being out there! She/Concord used to take off over the government quarters I lived in. The windows would shake and you couldn't talk on the phone or hear the TV while is was over you.
