A hostess has the right to handle her swaps however she wants. This is something we do for fun and love and if it isn't fun for you because you have to pay out of pocket, then change the conditions so it is fun again, or if that's not possible, don't host swaps....it shouldn't be a chore or make you unhappy! Put whatever conditions you like on your swaps--I look at what is requested routinely, and weigh that in my deicision to participate. Whatever I send (money or stamps) I assume there won't be any "change" coming back. If there is, it's a lovely surprise. But I assume not, plan accordingly (if I can't afford $1 or the extra stamp, I don't play). You might be clearer about the envies...SAML doesn't necessarily clearly mean "I will be re-using your envelope"--some hostesses avoid the hassle by providing their own new or recently recycled envies. If you are going to reuse the senders' envies, you might want to put that in the directions and request that they send an envy they feel sure has 2 trips left in it. Frankly, if I stated clearly that their envelope would be reused, and they sent me one on its last legs, I'd send the cards back in that envelope and hope they got there but too bad if they don't. The sender was warned after all. But that's just me and everyone knows I'm a cold-hearted bitch, right? When hosting a pop-up or trick card swap, I would definitley ask for an extra stamp (return postage + 1 23-cent or 32-cent stamp) because there is a good chance with bulkier cards from some participants, exact return postage won't cut it. In fact, unless you *know* the size/weight within a predictable range (like the swap is only bookmarks or postcards etc.) it's a good idea to ask for an extra stamp. And friendly to send it back if not needed. She attached pieces of silver reflective paper randomly over that and in the center she attached some 3-D looking bubbly looking stuff (I can't even describe it!) and on that she attached another piece of blue cardstock with an Indian chief's head embossed in silver on it... I received my Garden Swap today and first of all, I would like to thank Linda for hosting. She was really on the ball getting these mailed back already. This was fun! Linda's Card: Really neat shape card with appleblossoms and apples on the front. Opens up like a gate into a garden with cabbage in a garden and a cutie at the fence. I will be copying the shape and the way it opens up. There are about a million things you could do with this. Thanks Linda!! Thinking of You: Annonomous: Green card, again cut in special way. It has a drying line with flowers hanging from it. Neat! Maureen: Pretty animals, hat and gardening stuff border about 3/4 up on the turquoise card, but on white paper trimmed with deco scissors and a bow. I like that a lot, but I love the border on the inside of card by Stampin Up that I have to have. Good card. Another Annonomous: White card wih yellow flowers on the front. Has yellow envelope with wateringcan full of flowers. This is a pretty little set that looks real nice together. Good Job. Kimberlee: Neato borde stamp with flowers in different languages and then great gardening stamp in the middle. This is layered onto brown paper layered on pretty paper. I wish you had put stamp credits on it. I like that border stamp too. I would like to know who makes it. Great presentation, great card! Another Annonomous: Green mulberry paper layered on white paper with great gardening stamp cut out and placed in middle. No name, no stamp credits. Very pretty card. I would put my name on it!!! Sherri: I want every stamp on this great put together and very cool card. No stamp credits. I need to know who made these stamps. I love this card. Where did you get the straw strip on it. Cool! Oh yea, cream colored card with green mulberry paper layered then strip of some sort of straw ribbon with kindnes-love text then little bity seed packets with pretty sunflowers on them. Topped off with a scattering of sunflower seeds. Nancy: Plant Kindness-Gather friendship stamped at bottom of cream colored paper with vegie garden paper ribbon across card with watering can pouring over it. Red ribbon tied in bow on top. I like this card a lot. It's very colorful and cleverly put together. Great! Peebles: Pretty blue cardstock with really cool flowery paper layered then a pale grey card on top with a gardening set on a birdhouse. Very cute. Pink button in corner. These are all my favorite colors and I love the birdhouse. Great presentation! Linda L. Sponged background with "if friends were...." saying on white post card. In the middle is a garden angel with birds, bird hous and flowers. Very pretty card. No stamp credits. Who makes the angel stamp? MC Stoy: White card layered with blue paper with banner cut out on leftside(very cool. Another white card layer, sponged background. But you should see the buzzards stamped on with talk ballons. Too Cool! I have to have these birds!!! very pretty flowers stamped under birds on a limb. Love it, gotta have it. As you can see, everytime I do a swap, I love everyones stamps. It's too bad that more people didn't particpate. Jessica Edwards (our hostess) made a layered card with some neat fiber-looking papers. The bottom layer in tan, the top layer in an off white. It had a toucan in the center with a leaf in each corner. The theme of this card was "Save our rain forests". Teresa O'Brian Durn made a fish-themed card. It was also a layered card with a blue background, layered with different colored words of islands . There were several fish layered on top of the word background, and a circle postoid-type stamp with different fish, colored and "preserve nature's diversity" around the edge of the postoid. Thanks for your wonderful cards! Jimi This message was from lv2stamp@juno.com (j w Loveland) - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Saturday Denise (qvc4me@aol.com) and I hosted a DOTS party (we welcome orders if anyone wants anything; free shipping from my house!), and my mother was REALLY interested & bought some stamps for herself!!!!! Today she brought over a dresser to help me organize my stamp room and will be another next time she says. Whoa. Someone must've slipped her some happy pills! (she normally doesn't like me!) This could be what's happening here. But even if it isn't, the best thing to do is just STOP feeding the monster. All this eternal replying to this one and that one just continues the problem. I've been deleting everything that comes along with "weird sex" in the heading. I'm getting pretty sick of all the petty bickering about it, and have ceased to give a rat's asp *where* this started! Enough. This is one case where if you ignore it, it *will* go away! I'm going to use it to make stickers and invitations for his birthday and lots of other things. I think we'll use it to stamp on his calendar when he has "happy" days - we are working on some behavior modification. Thank you so much, Melissa! You really made my day. (and Josh's!) While we were out we had some interesting conversation and thoughts concerning her upcoming treatment which begins tomorrow. I was curious about the following and frankly she wasn't certain how to answer so we are throwing it open to the list: 1. After she receives her dose(s) of radiation, does that mean we won't need a night light, and/or will we now have a portable one? 2. Will I have to wear lead PJ's, or will a lead shield in a strategic area be sufficient? PeterPan Perceive............ Believe.................. and ACHIEVE!
