Might be offensive if you have a weak stomach.. B U F F E R Z O N E Speaking of fast food and attitude problems, I can barely eat fast food anymore. A couple of months ago here in Kentucky someone at a Wendy's--to use my husband's words--took a dump in the chili. People were getting sick and going to the hospital, sickness was traced back to one Wendy's restaurant, and the cause was e-coli. Detectives got all the employees in one room and said if the one who did it didn't fess up then there would be testing, unpleasant testing, to find out who it was. The person fessed up....I haven't heard what was done to the person, but nothing would be bad enough if you ask me. Some people just don't deserve to be among the human race. Got these great cards.....what a talented bunch! "C C": Apostcard of exotic lite green paper full of interesting fibers on which is layered a piece of beige cardstock. A large stamped Feather is on thes, which appears to be stamped and then watercolored. (I can't always tell what techniques have been used...sorry if I guess wrong!) The featehr looks so soft and real! Red Scott: A postcard with a most interesting background in greens and lavender and blue shades sponged (?) all over. A big fish and a little fish are embossed on the front and the words "I want to swallow you whole". Who makes that stamp???? Too funny! Rachel Innes: Brown cardstock with a beige layer, then a light brownish layer of torn edge paper stamped repeatedly with a dark brown fish. On top of this is glued a larger fish that is stamped onto paper clay (I think)...Looks wonderful...Rachel, is this paperclay or what?? I really love how it looks! Turtle Man Frank, the wonderful host, made a nifty pentagonal folded card of a very pretty off white stock with shiny ovals all over it. He used a sand dollar stamp and cut out and put one sand dollar on each of the five leaves of the card. When it isopened, the inner paper has been colored blue and there is a fish embossed with a black sparkly embossing powder. AlphaBecky: A most spectascular card! A greenish grey speckled cardstock is the base, with a deckle edge layer of metallic copper cardsstock as the next layer. Then there is a layer of the cardstock with a maple leaf stamped repeatedly in a copper metallic ink. Finally a large square of copper, with embossed edges, with the maple leaf stamped into it and colored brown..I am not sure HOW she did this..it has a dimentional look like dry embossing. Very , very striking!! Red Rubberincess Holly: Tooooooofunny!! too, too funny!!!! Now I hafta go get a catalogue from OM studios and get the stamps!!! The postcard is blue, then there is a white lyer on which she made a background with a brayer and glitter spray and white web spray. She Stamped and embossed two fish ..a big one abnd a little one (who is under the big one, in an opposite direction so he is lookin at big fishes' tail... She watercolored the fish..big guy is blues and lavenders, little one is pinks and lavendare. The little one is gazing at bubbles arisinf from big fish's tail and he is saying "oops" At the top is stamped "OH < Fish Farts!". Too funny! Thanks, everyone for the absolutely wonderful cards!!! I am always amazed at how creative the folks on this list are!! Bin (Tracy's Mom): a wonderful card..white stock, folded so that it opens in two folds on the front which is decorated with a screen stamped on mulberry paper with gold threads in it, above the screen are two Japanese lanterns embossed in blue sparkle and cut out and mounted, with tiny bamboo poles hlding them. When the card is opened, a lovely Japanese woman,. playing an instrument is embossed and colored. She is standing under branches of pine and cheerry trees with lanterns hanging from them and clouds in the background....nicely designed and cleverly executed! TiffChiu@aol.com: Used cloud printed cardstock and made a postcard with a lady in a skirt and sweater reaching for a bamboo pole on which are hanging two little kimonos..She put jump rings thru the kimonos and threaded the (real) bamboo pole thru them and glued it on...too clever! Nan Robkin: A wonderful little book, the cover is watercolor paper done in a rainbow of colors with a starry look, whcih I think is salt sprinkled on it. A Japanese woman is embossed in black and the book is tied with black cording.. very pretty! And I loved the label attached, too! Nice to "see" you, Nan! Jessica Edwards: Beige cardstock was used, and a fan design is stamped in the center of the cover in blue ink, and then repeated in each of the four corners in a rainbow color from pinks to blue and lavender . Bibelots: I keep looking and looking at this one, trying to figure out how she figured out how to do this...amazing! The card is done on shiny stock, which is folded so there are three panels showing in front..There are 3 figures: a woman dancing with steamers, one holdng a horse puppet, and a third holding up a samurai doll...they were stamped and masked, and the background was airbrushed in multiple colors. The figures were partially cutout and thecard folded so that the first two stand out when the card is opened. The card was folded, and on the inner folds a repeat pattern of flowers was added. I cannot do justice tothis card with my descrption!!!! Wonderful!! Shoko: Another simply beautiful card..first, it is in a wonderful envelope that is not glued but tied with ribbons run thru slits..pink, lavender and purple ribbons.. Inside is a card of orchid ccardstock with purple mulberry paper embossed with a "love" character in gold. On top of that are layers with kimono desings, a plain purple layer and then a koi fish . Inside is a panel of shiny stock with the lantern design repeatedly stamped, and mounted on it is a purple square and then a lavender one with the love character embossed in shiny pink and purple... just lovely! (What would you like in Rubber?) Hello fellow Rubber lovers! I'm in the process of putting together a catolog of my artwork (hopefully imortalized in rubber some time before I'm 97 years old!) I was wondering if I could ask for some input from you. If you have anything you have been wanting to see in a stamp, or maybe something that you'd like to see more of, I'd appreciate any of your ideas! My illustrations run from one end of the spectrum to the other (Jutta and Baggie have some in their new catolog) , from cute ,to goofy, to exotic , to beautiful so I'm open to any and all ideas ! I'll try to keep a list of all who take the time to answer and someday soon I hope, I'll be able to return the favor! Right now I'm in the animal mode and have done alot of cute but goofy animals. I'd like to do cute and sweet this time around! I try to keep my humans, Angels and Fairy's ethnically diverse (Because we're all beautiful!) so I'll go in any direction there as well! CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Thanks so much in advance!! Happy dreaming! My SSS sent in cards to Ruthann's Image Swap for me ! I received a baker's dozen cards with all sorts of images. Mostly fall related. I love them. I participated in this swap last year and got some wonderful images. Not participating this year, so it was a wonderful surprise. Thank you to my SS. The best part of this is the new contacts to be made with the other swap particiapants. With their names and email addys usually on the back of the image cards. (Not a warning) I saw this on an AOL sight and thought it might be of interest and help c= lear up misuderstanding about email virus and how it does and does not work. H= ope it helps. I know that there have been some heated comments about viruses in the pas= t. I'm not trying to start one here. I'm just clear things up a little. Carol What is a computer virus? Computer viruses are small programs that can reproduce themselves and spr= ead from one computer to another. Viruses are sometimes benign, doing nothing more than filling up space on your computer's hard drive. Unfortunately, = some viruses are actually malicious. They can destroy critical data on your computer. =20 Fact: You will NEVER get a virus from reading your e-mail or participatin= g in an Instant Message conversation. Dangerous viruses are, instead, spread b= y infected e-mail attachments that you accidentally download. In other word= s, it=92s the file ATTACHED to an e-mail message that may be infected with a virus. But it=92s not unleashed until you DOWNLOAD it. * Don't Take E-mail from Strangers: Despite rumors you may have heard, y= ou can't catch a virus by reading an e-mail or participating in an Instant Message=99 conversation. You can, however, get a virus if you download an infected file attached to an e-mail. Here's a simple rule: If you don't k= now the sender, don't download the attachment -- no matter how interesting it= may appear to be. * Watch the Net: Exercise caution if you download files from the Internet (either via the World Wide Web or FTP). Look for a statement at the site saying that its files have been checked by an anti-virus program. Downloa= ding from a legitimate site that checks its files for viruses is likely to be safe. If the files haven't been checked, or if you're not sure, then eit= her download the file to a floppy disk and check it with your own anti-virus software or don't download from that site at all This message was from Blueki@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modem= s Arts & Crafts Forum. Hmmmm, that shouldn't be happening, Nisa... you should be getting a perfect impression with your stamp. Check the hook that's in the grooves of the mount and make sure it's a tad narrower than the groove so it is lying flat. Then your stamp should lie flat and stamp even. Let me know how it goes... Really didn't think a first convention would have such a good turnout, but was pleasantly surprised....again. There were as many people from out of state, as from Utah, and not nearly as many Utah vendors as you might imagine considering all the Utah companies. It was a shopper's paradise, compared to the big shows. Plenty of room between aisles, and a great variety of vendors were represented. Even Rubberstampmadness made the trek to Utah. It was fun to see representative from "headquarters" in Corvalis. I never did get around to asking their names, but usually the people who man the Rubberstampmadness booth in the big shows, are friends of the owners who happen to live in that city and not employees. Ashley was in heaven because they asked to take her picture in her angel costume for RSM. She had on her necklace of some of the pins she's collected from the various shows. We'd left the HALOS banner at home, so don't know how many people will make the connection between HALOS and angels. Everyone asked her what she was dressed as a fairy for. Oh well! We had a get together after the show at my studio. We were sad that Ginny, Natasha, and Linda didn't make it. Must have been bad directions, the horribly torn up roads, or sheer exhaustion. But Ann and her daughter Joan from Montana braved the construction and found us, Jimi Loveland and her sister came, Mark from Hansen Art, and my good friend and artist Diane and her family came. We had a great time talking, making roller stamps out of little wooden wheels, and eating wonderful food. Had so much leftover we won't have to cook today, yeah! We went to visit Mark's wife Jodi who is completely cofined to bed with her pregnancy and living with her mother until the baby is born. Her mother lives across the street from my studio--what a small world. Had my vulcanizer set up to show Ginny how to make stamps, so showed Ann instead. Met lots of list members, but many had traveled from out of town and weren't able to be gone from their family's after spending all day away from them. Saleswise, we sold maybe a third of what we do at Carson, the same as we did at our second Las Vegas show, and about the same as San Mateo, half as much as Puyallup. As much fun as it is to come home with lots of money, it's actually much more fun when things are slower.....so my solution is to have smaller conventions, have them cost less for vendors, and find other less expensive ways to advertise the shows--like word of mouth, the internet, and free publicity in stamping and scrapbook publications. I know there are many shows where the vendors are lucky to cover their airfare, booth rental, motel, and if they had to rent a car, they'd go in the hole. I don't know how well the out-of-state vendors came out on this show, but I'd suspect that many of them only broke even. My other solution, is to have more people get into the business, so vendors would be able to stay in their own areas and do shows more often. It wouldn't be good for the stores, I suppose, but if they can't cater to the demand for unmounted rubber, and that's clearly what the customers want, then maybe things will have to change. Anyone have any other ideas, or solutions.......? Had a great time, but sure glad it's Sunday. It's the one day a week we don't do any work.
