(Long) This was my first swap and I really enjoyed all the cards I received. It's great to see what other stampers are doing, and since I now have my snail mail directory, I know where some of these cards come from. I even received 3 cards from Australia! Jessica Lingam made a great card using Hero arts coffee cup on white deckle edged paper. She watercolored the cup and used Liquid Applique(?) on the cream. This is layered onto brown corrugated paper and then onto oatmeal colored cardstock which is stamped with coffee cups and beans in brown. Very cool!!! Susan Uncle made a really nice postcard using coffee cups, coffee pkg.and basket of muffins on sticker paper. These were put on a maroon checkered paper, layered onto a deckle edged brown card. Terrific! Lisa Howard made a card and envy using hand and swirl by comotion and her own coffee cup designs! What did you use to carve into Lisa? The card has a black hand and coffee cup popped up on a background of these really terrific cup stamps. The color in these stamps are inked semi-transparent so overlapping colors make new shades. Loved this one! Grace Murphy made a really nice card using coffee cups on sticker paper, cut out and placed on blue paper which is torn on one side and straight edge on the other. This paper runs the length of the card which was placed on pink cardstock stamped with "Let's have coffee". I liked this one alot. Jackie Lewers made a wonderful card using 5 different coffee images, colored and embossed with some really great black sparkle ep. These were cut out and popped up on mulberry paper layered onto yellow cardstock.Very pretty! Thanks, Heather for hosting! Next time you come to Cape Coral, look me up! The best fun is hearing what everyone else sent to others. It's interesting to see what others found in response to the items on the list. Everyone interprets things differently so the packages are very diverse. Please please PLEASE post a note to the list telling what you received and if you know who sent it tell us that too. I received my cards and I think all of them are just wonderful! Here are the cards I received: From R. Ingram (StmpNFaith) a very innovative recycling of a Starbucks bag as an envy to start. A hand carved stamps were used on the front: a lady appearing to smell the aroma of coffee. On her description she states that a penscore was smashed into dry coffee beans and a rainbow pad. Wow! The inside generously has receipes for wonderful coffee drinks. Thank you so much! Next card is from Pam Black. On yellow card stock a background stamped with brown ink was coffee cups and coffee beans. On the front of the card was two mice appearing to tip over a big cup of coffee with a coffee can in the background This was all colored with color pencil. Hey Pam...even the mice love their coffee, too! Thank you for your card! From Diane McVicar on an oatmeal colored card stock was a light blue plaid wallpaper background with three other small squares of wallpaper all layered with five different stamps of coffee stamped in brown pigment ink and embossed with a small raffia bow to in the center. The inside saying is, "Come by for cofee any day we can chat the kids can play; my kitchen is cozy the coffee pot;s brewin'; don't mind if the house looks like Rome's Ancient Ruin!" That's really a great saying...thank you for your card! From Jennifer Hanes a card on rtoyal blue card stock that has a prism like feature to it. In the center is a coffee stamp that says Espresso Yourself embossed in black colored in with different colors. Glitter is on the ice cubes at the bottom of the stamp. Nice card....thank you Jennifer. Last card is from Zonia Quero Ziada - On a heavy dark red colored card stock is layered brown card stock; white glossy card stock with a coffee cup, coffee bean and the word latte all stamped in black with the background brayered in blue and red. IN the center on a square of corrugated red paper is a starbucks coffee labels that was says "decaffeinated Kenya - Starbucks Coffee". Inside on a piece of velum paper is the saying, "Coffee, tea or me?" with coffee beans stamp on each corner and also the saying , "Wake up!!" with a coffee cup above it colored in with yellow. Her envy is also stamped with coffee cups and coffee beans. Thank you...Zonia! Again...hope you all had a great time participating. Now...where is my cup of coffee so that I can go wake up!!! And be sure to send your snail mail addy with your confirmation. Also, several people expressed disappointment over the fact that I did not include as one of the items, a Christmas stamp. We can add another item to include this if you all agree to it. So let me know your opinion and I will notify you all when I find out what the majority says. If you all had access to unmounted stamps, we could cut the cost of this item by sending unmounteds. There are several vendors on the list who sell unmounteds and we DO have plenty of time to order and get it in the package since itdoesn't have to be mailed until the 1st of Dec. Just a thought. You can import clip art from DJ Inkers and color them, then use them in cards. It's hard to explain the coloring I use for background. Corel Print has coloring available that looks like a rainbow, from dark to light or vice-versa (I hope you can understand this). It can go in circles, straight lines or from one corner to another. If you send me your snail addy, I will send you some samples of the colors and what I do with these printed sheets. Then you will be able to see what I mean. I also use the sayings and print them on vellum paper and use as an insert for cards. With my bubble jet printer, I can emboss as the page is being printed. Sometimes I combine computer generated background paper with homemade paper for layering. Hope I have answered all your questions. If you have more, write back. Happy Stamping! I sell a few different types of peach paper. I have a peach cardstock with the look of parchment paper. I also have Thai Soft Unryu in peach which feels like a soft, light fabric. I also have Thai Unryushi in peach. This is a very whispy paper and is a very light color of peach. To show it's full color, it needs to be placed on a white background, but putting it on backgrounds of other colors gives different effects. I would be happy to send you 1 sheet of each for $1.00. You could play with them and see if you like them. Marvys are very juicy, which is good because they will last for a couple years, if taken good care of. When using Marvys to ink a stamp, if the ink is too blotchy, you can let it dry completely, then "huff" (like steaming a window or cleaning your glasses) on it to remoisturize the ink. When it dries onto the stamp, it usually does so uniformly. You can also use a light color on a bold stamp, let dry, then either dot or stripe with other colors, or ink another stamp and put a design onto the bold stamp before stamping on paper. Just some ideas! Thanks for reading! (I love Marvys!) deb This message was from D1derly@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
