I know next to nothing about it other >than a lovely and lacey looking card example I saw a long time ago with this done to the vellum. We are carrying Pergamano in our store now. It is really fun to work with. If you can find any heavy parchment paper (like drafter's vellum), you can easily recreate the Pergamano look. All you need is the paper, a thin line pen (like the old time quill and ink pens), white ink, and a stylus. 1. Stamp your design on a sheet of white paper. 2. Lay the parchment paper over the design and trace the pattern with the white ink. Or you could just emboss with white pad or white embossing powder, BUT this does have a tendency to flake off, I've found. 3. Then turn your paper over and dry emboss the open areas of your design, or trace around the outside lines giving a definite look to the tracing. Pergamano sells a felt pad which comes in the beginner's kit and they also sell a heavier pad which has a sort of vinyl look to one side. I think a mouse pad or cutting board would work just as well. (haven't tried this, so I'm not exactly sure. Pergamano sells chalks that can be used on the underside of the paper to give a pastel look. I was rather unhappy with the way these left streaks, so I have just used markers to color with. Pergamano also sells inks that can be used to color in your designs. These work almost like glass paints. One of the Pergamano tools that I have not been able to duplicate with supplies I already have on hand are the needle punches. These are two or four small needles that will perforate your paper. With the two needle tool you can go around the outside of your design punching holes - - you insert the second needle into the hole left by the first punch, thereby getting EXACT punches. You can then "tear" the parchment away and this leaves a very beautiful lacey look. The four needle punch gives a very unique design when used in combination with an embossed circle inbetween. Sort of like X's and O's. Hope this helps. StampCrazy ------------------------------ From: Debby Gribbin Date: Sun, 16 Feb 1997 12:23:59 -0600 Subject: Re: RS: Make Own Copy of Swap Cards? Hi Vicki - I'm still a newbie and haven't joined in many swaps but I usually make a couple extra copies. I send the best of the bunch to the swap. I keep one copy for me so that I know what I did when I receive the other cards back. I put one copy in a box that I have - so that if I need to send a card out in a hurry I have some already made. And I put one in a box for my mom. She just retired and is trying to get used to living on her retirement. She has always sent lots of cards to her friends and family and cards just don't quite fit into her budget these days. Thats just what I do. An extra one for the hostess (I've done it; it's a lot of work!) and an extra one for me. To make a color copy is a great idea too, only it seems like it's easier for me to just make an extra one than to have to remember to take the cards to the printer. Also, when you "reply" to a message and do not change the address of the person posting the original note, that person gets the message twice BECAUSE they are also part of the rubberstampers etc. list. Basically you need: 1. A handle. There are two types of handles, one which is "self" inking when an ink cartridge is installed, or you can not install the cartridge and just use an ink pad. I HIGHLY reccommend the ink cartridge it gives even inking throughout the whole wheel. I have done some inkpad inking and I believe it takes patience (of which I am sorely lacking). The great thing about the handle is that you only need one! You can buy other ink cartridges (in a variety of colors, or make your own) and just use your one handle. 2. Wheels. LOTS of them. I have a variety in stock, including: flowers, gardening, cats, bears, hearts, ferries (boats), dinosaurs, Easter themes with great easter eggs, bunnies. The totem mask I spoke of, I have clover, espresso beans, sunflowers, roses. Terri, I have alot. 3. Ink Cartridges/ink pad. (see 1) AGAIN, Go with some ink cartridges: colors are violet, red, green, brown, black, purple, pink refills and blank cartridges, you can make your own with your favorite ink refills! If this is something you are interested in, I could do a Rollograph Grab bag including a rollograph complete kit with an extra wheel and cartridge for only $15 and 2.00 shipping and I will include a CATALOG from Clearsnap, no charge!
