I don't think my collections are nearly as unique as some of those out there....certainly not Shannon's! :) Besides stamps (which is a big besides), I collect papers of all sorts....I don't know whether to call this collecting or just hoarding since I wind up using most in my art, but I appreciate paper the way a collector appreciates anything. Also any potential collage material....clippings, charms, etc. I also collect dolls and stuffed animals. A couple of times a year I find a new stuffed animal I can't resist. Usually dolls are only once a year, sometimes twice. (Santa has brought me a doll every Christmas of my life!) Most are porcelain, though I like cloth dolls and some vinyl. I also collect....or at least accumulate...videotapes. Aside from movies, I have a lot of episodes of favorite t.v. shows on tape so I can watch whichever episode whenever I want. Also, a lot of these shows go off the air far too soon....that's what started it. And I tape most ice skating events on t.v. and rewatch those, too. I also collect fantasy-related things....little pewter fairies and the like and also jewelry, especially earrings. I love stones like hematite and onyx..... There's probably more, but I'm in denial......Cynthia This message was from Cynthia Sillitoe - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Book buying dropped off significantly when I bagged grad school last year and tried to get serious about some of my debt...libraries are GOOD. But we still have a HUGE bookcase in the living room, a large bookcase in the study, 4 milk crates full of paperbacks, and smallish bookcase in the hallway. Of all my books, the true "collections" are small--Harlan Ellison hardcovers and paperbacks, Neil Gaiman ditto, and "urban fantasy" authors like Charles DeLint, Emma Bull, and Stephen Brust, mainly in paperback. - --a cookbook collection that is the despair of my partner--"No more until you've tried at least half the recipes in the ones you have!" she'll say..."Okay," I'll say, and bring home another one a few weeks later. I'm a sucker for those little Pillsbury ones they sell at the checkout counter. I'm also becoming a collector of odds and ends, things that can be recycled into cards and collages. (Makes sense, being a coffee wife and all :) I have lots of handmade pottery mugs, plus just the regular ceramic mugs that we pick up wherever we visit. I have 2 mugs that have a picture of my husband and son on them that I love. I have mugs from places I've worked. Mugs that have sayings on them. They aren't valuable in any way, but I *love* them. Hi! I love flea markets and yard sales. I collect lots of country items. Blankets, baskets, nick-nacks. Things like that. My husband has a great collection. He is starting a museum. He has a whole room in our hose that is STUFFED with military items. He collects from all countries. He has 12 FULL outfitted mannequins. These things are over 6 feet tall, each. He has them dressed for all branches of the military. He even has a full dressed german outfit. He has helments, banners, flags, newspapers from as early as 1900, clothes, metals and most anythings else you can think of. He has been after me to post that he collects these things for a long time. This seems like a good time. SOOOOOO...... If anyone has military items from a pin to a cannon, any ara, and you would like a price on it, please e-mail me and I will have him contact you. The items would be well cared for. He loves this stuff. THANKS! Joy This message was from "luv2stamp" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
