Barb should NOT be placed in the position of having to "track down the people who have not fulfilled their obligation". You would think that the folks that signed up would be responsible and either send the package or let Barb know that they needed to drop. I have had to back out of things, and I think that is MUCH better than letting everyone think you are still participating when you have no intention of doing so!! Have you guessed that I haven't received a package yet?? Oh well...no biggie. If I get burned, I get burned. It was great fun just "finding" the items on the list and sending them off to my person. Picture yourself near a gurgling mountain stream. Birds are softly chirping in the crisp cool mountain air. Nothing can bother you here. No one knows this secret place. You are in total seclusion from that place called "the world". The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity. The water is clear. You can easily make out the face of the person whose head you're holding under the water. Look. It's the person who caused you all this stress in the first place. What a pleasant surprise. And for accepting my mistake of cards. But as you said it still fits the theme of the swap. I liked the effect I got anyway and have used it since I made the swap cards. Also thanks for the match book with papers. I've seen people talk of these but haven't seen one until now. Well I got cards that people forgot to put there name on. So I don't know who made most of the cards I recieved. All the cards are very nice. The first card is white embossed thank you with a small bunch of roses to the side of the saying, which is stamped on maroon colored cardstock. The top has a wavy rounded top to the card which looks nice. Glenyce stamped and embossed in what a cute Precious Moments Christmas scene stamp on a black notecard. Looks good. I could see you using chalks on this too. That Durn Stamper took lots of time to make her card. I've never seen so many layers but it looks nice. I don't know whether to start from the top down or the bottom up. Top down seems best.I don't know what kind of scissors she used but each layer has a victorian scallop look to the edges. There are 5 layers alternating navy and white layerd on a folded white card. The first layer is navy with a winter scene of a house with a few trees and picket fence which is stamped and embossed in white. Then layerd on a 3 graduated sized notecards of white, navy and white. These are layered on a larger navy card with snowflaked bordering the card. All layered on the folded white note card. The laying give the house scene a far away look to it. It's very interesting and a idea I may steal from you for a card of my one. A no name card again :^( This card is made with maroon card stock is folded in half. On the front is a dusty pink card with the same cut that That Durn Stamper used on her layers. Layered on top is a brighter pink mulberry paper with the same cut on the borders. Layered on that is stamped and embossed white tea pot on maroon paper that was trimmed with those popular scissors. On the handle of the tea pot is a pretty cream bow with pink and mauve flowers. A pretty card. Who did it? Cynde made a cool card. I like them all but this card was made with some cork board. I have never thought of using cork. But may have to go buy some. She stamped and embossed blue stars that are in a "tornado" like shape on the cork so the cork is cut in a rectangle. Layered it on a tan rectange. Then layered on a dark plum folded notecard. However, she cut folded the front of the card in half and cut a flap. I really don't know how to do this so it's hard to discribe. But if you fold the card front like a regular card the cork piece is on the inside. The way she folded and attached the cork layer it show in the front, to open the card you pull the edge of the card to the left. I know it sounds confusing sorry. On the inside she stamped in white a inch wide border of fireworks stars along the inside edge. Next to the stars is a white embossed saying: If we only look down, there ill never be stars. This is a great saying and a great card. I'm going to try to make a card with this cut. If I can figure it out. Guess I'll have to get the pattern book out. Thanks for all the great ideas and for letting me in on this swap. It was fun. These cards are GREAT!! Thank you so much, Lisa, for the matchbook pad. It's so cute. I've heard about them but never seen one (where do you get these?). It is black & she stamped a tulip & embossed in sparkle EP. Liz Mills-She used black cardstock and made a wonderful snow scene. She used a scenic stamp with trees & a lake and embossed them in white (who makes this stamp?). She chalked the water blue and added white glittered dots to depict a snowy day. This would make a great Christmas card!! Melinda-She made a postcard with black cardstock & embossed "Thinking of You" (Rubber Stampede) in white. She used 5/8" wired organza ribbon with satin edges to make a gorgeous bow on the left hand corner. She added satin roses to embellish the bow. On the other side she edged white paper with cloud scissors & layered it on top. This is a lovely card & certainly doesn't look like it's her first swap! Lindy G.-She used medium blue cardstock & made a cute snowman card. She used a Stampington & Co. snowman (he's wearing a vest, hat & mittens) and embossed him in white. She splattered white paint for the snow & also blue glitter. She used shiny stars & snowflakes for embellishment. Very cute card! Barbra Byrnes-She used navy blue cardstock and embossed an old fashioned santa in white. She used glitter for snow and in the left corner is an embroidery thread bow with tiny bells tied to the end. On the inside is printed the words to Jolly Old Saint Nicholas Christmas carol. What a great idea!! Carole Mork-She used medium blue cardstock for a great postcard. She embossed the Denami frame stamp in white. Inside the frame she fancy cut some bluish paper & on top of that she layered red paper. She embossed Love (by Stampendous) on this. My description is lacking because this is a very stunning card!! Thank you Lisa Huppert for hosting this swap. A few of your addy's have been bouncing, so I am posting this to the list also. Just an update to let everyone know that I have neglected to re-post the due date - the pages are due to be postmarked by October 20th. And if you are sure that you are unable to complete the swap, please let me know now - so I can fill in the spots with new players. I will be posting to the lists looking for a few more players. If you have any questions, please email me. Thanks! Lynette This message was from Lynette Walters - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. Lisa, It's true what you said re: if someone will pay for an item, who are you/I/we to say. BUT...there are those who play by the rules and others who turn a blind eye and a deaf ear on them. I have seen many posts from people who won't sell their stamped crafts UNTIL they get the "go ahead" as to whether or not they are Angel company images. I have since found out thatPSX is NOT an Angel Co. I doubt this individual would sell too many of her "prints" anyhow, but that's not really the point... $10.00 in NY for a card with a scrap or two of interesting paper is a bit high. But I bet that card is more "artsy" than the high-priced "print" in question. :> Ja'Nice ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com This message was from "Janice Gibson" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. If I'm not mistaken, there were 3 Scavenger Hunts...the first one was due around September 17th. This is probably the one Barb's referring to, not the Fall Hunt.
