You should roll it on the short side (e.g. the top of the wheel will be inked in blue maybe and the bottom in red.) This way you won't be transferring another color of ink to the different parts of the rainbow pad - you really don't want that! I rarely use ink pads with my Rollagraphs. The self-inking handles (with changable ink cartridges) makes a HUGE difference!! One other tip I have learned from Karen Vail - Use the bottom edge of your stamp postioner to guide the wheel. No more crooked lines!! I inked up one with garnet and teal for Christmas last year - used it with the old fashioned Christmas swag roller and it looked GREAT. Just added a garnet velvet ribbon and the package was complete. In the spring I made a really neat cartridge with Spring Green, Hot Pink, and Sky Blue. I roll all the bags that leave our store. Many of our customers keep them and recycle them for giving others. I love making mini scenes on the bags too. Black cartridge - Running Horses Green cartridge - Rolling Wheat Black and blue cartridge - whales Blue cartridge - waves Navy cartridge - clouds or windy day Blue and green cartridge - flowers and butterflies and on and on. I've forgotten the others I've done - oh, just remembered a picture I did. America The Beautiful with musical note frame Clouds Amber Waves of Grain Purple Mountains Majesties Wheat Pilgrims and have forgotten the rest. The waves were in there somewhere. I turned into a pumpkin a couple of hours ago. Got to end this and hit the hay.
