I know that my absence on the list will not affect your daily existence, but I thought I'd let you know that I'll be gone for awhile! I'm *finally* moving into my own place this weekend - Eric's going to have his place back to himself with no rubberstamps and stuff cluttering up his neatly arranged clutter! I've got a great little apartment - complete with garden, garage, and fireplace! Yay! Now we'll have a place to put our Christmas stockings! Now Santa himself can come down my chimney and leave me bunches of presents on Dec. 25! Eric's been thinking of how he's going to make me shelves for my stamps and hot sauces! We're going to have so much fun painting and decorating! If you really must get ahold of me (I hope I don't miss any directory info while I'm gone) you can e-mail me at the address you see up there on the "From:" line. Okay, gotta get ready for work to make the people talk and swallow right! I'm gonna miss reading all the fun posts! Ciao! Nisa/Teapot PS. Colleen Munger sent me my fall scavenger hunt package. I wasn't even thinking about it coming yet and couldn't imagine who sent the box I saw on my porch when I got home from work. What a great surprise! Here is what she sent: (she wrapped several of the items in pretty sunflower tissue) On top of everything Colleen placed a gret card in a clear envy. On vellum she stamped and embossed in gold three oriental(?) fish and colored them from the back. The lower corners were cut with decorative scissors. She then mounted the vellum on medium ble cs with similarly cut corners. I opened the card to find it is an explosion card with a nice note inside. Nicely done card! 1. 6 sheets(full size 8 1/2 X 11)assorted fall colored card stock: great shades of brown, gold, orange and green 2. 1- 8 1/2 X 11 sheet glossy cardstock stamped full of your favorite fall image(s) leaving enough space so receiver can color and cut out and use on cards she makes : a whole bunch of embossed fall images, leaves, pilgrims, Indians, teepee, pumpkins, sunflowers, acorns, turkeys. This great, I don't have anything like these.: 3. Make a card for fall using the layering technique and your favorite fall themed stamp(S): On brown cs Colleen layered brown stuff (like you can put under things to keep them from sliding around), looks like she sponged it with gold. Then layered fall leaves in browns, gold, orange, and green that were embossed in gold, and acorns. The leaves are grouped on the top left and bottom right. Then going diagonally across the middle she glued a small bunch of red and natural raffia. Very nice card! 4. 12 fall themed stickers: A bunch of stickers! Trees, flowers, leaves, fall harvest grouping, apples, crayons, teddy bears 5. Halloween candy treat: a small box of Jelly Bellies 6. something sparkly to use to trim cards(could be glitter, sparkly ribbon, metalic trims, etc.): 4 big pieces of silver, gold, and silver and gold trim 7. a copy of your favorite fall recipe.: a receipe for quiche- sounds yummy! 8. a 1/2 ounce jar of a fall colored embossing powder: detail gold, can always use more of that 9. a fall themed rubber stamp: a maple leaf 10. 1 large sheet special printed tissue paper: several sheets of pretty tissue, looks like strokework(in tole painting) 11. a card, made by you using a special technique(shaker, slider, magic, hidden message, etc) and please include instructions onhow you did it.: My first shaker card! Colleen used several of the same images that she sent me and made a shaker card with sunflowers, pumpkins, and a scarecrow. She put candy corn inside! Then I opened the card to find the word Hello cut so that it pops out. Really cool! 12. a magnet, made by you, using RS OR computer printer: a butterfly magnet. I think she stamped it on a piece of a soda can, then formed it. Beautiful. Is that how you did it Colleen? 13. a sunflower item. Don't care what it is--silk flower, stamp, whatever: the sunflower mosaic stamp from Rubber Stampede, I have the rose one, these look real nice if you color with markers on the stamp 14. package of specialty coffee, tea or hot cocoa (1 cup size) to warm you up on those cool fall evenings: 3 flavors of yummy sounding hot cocoa! 15. 2 yards of fall themed ribbon (paper or fabric, wired or not): 2 pieces of pretty paper ribbon This was a lot of fun to get, it is my first time doing anything like this! I'm glad you apologized (and this is not judging what went on, I have (obviously) no idea about you and your SS or SS's in general for that matter, never having been in that swap)--I'm glad you apologized for YOU because you seem to be feeling bad about it. And you know what? You've subtracted negativity from the list now. I have had similar moments with this list and another list I"m on. Lemme tell you a little about that list--if you think this one can get pissy--try a list where everyone is close to the same age and has somewhat similar outlooks. Stir in a bunch of single (or soon-to-be-single or wish-they-were-single, in some cases) folks, meet twice a year and add a festive party atmosphere. Hang out on line and in person for going on 4 years. WAtch the sparks fly! The answer was for me, to unsubscribe for periods when it got too much. It's a bad feeling when you realize that it's become a chore to read mail from people who had been bringing joy and fun into your life. It was hard, almost inconceivable to think about walking away--but when I did it was such a relief. AND it's important to know that you CAN back off and take a break. In both cases (this list and the other one) I have returned feeling better and happier, and in both cases that round of ugliness has blown over. Since this is cc'd to the list I'm gonna take the chance to throw out some general advice. There are lots of folks right now counting up their injuries that they have received and inflicting more wounds to "even the score." Lots of hurt feelings all around, even among people who didn't participate. Boundaries aside (and I did find that analytical post very interesting, Jane!), when you are in a family and other people are fighting and bickering in front of you, some of the hurt slops around onto other people--it's not pleasant and stressful. Can we all take a 10-second step back and look at the big picture here? Yes, I know this list has positive aspects--I'm here for teh swaps and techniques and some of the tangent discussions myself...but I'm talking about the even bigger picture: We have a limited time here on this planet, folks. Someone recently posted a lovely analogy about time being like a bank account--there are 83,000 or so seconds in a day and it's like a bank account with $83,000 in it every morning, that you only have that one day to spend. Blah blah, yeah whatever: my point it, suppose you got hit by a bus tomorrow. Would you want to have spent your last day here spewing venom on people -- any people, let alone those you supposedly care about and treat as a "family"? Just wondering. That's all I'm gonna say on this subject. Katchoo This message was from Katina Choovanski - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. My DH went for the first time this year also. They encourage men to be better fathers to their children and better husbands to their wives. They don't deserve the bad PR. I was listening to a Christian radio station yesterday and they quoted Gary Bauer's response to someone in a debate..."what do you want them to be? Promise-Breakers?". Also, another radio announcer that arrived in town for the event (which is in D.C., and I live just outside of it in Maryland) was talking to a cab-driver and the cab driver didn't know what Promise Keepers was. He explained it to the cab driver and the cab-driver said that it was great because his own father abandoned him when he was an infant. He thought it was a great idea for men to rally together and decide to encourage one another to stick to their promises: to their wives, to God, to their children, etc. That's my 2 cents. And my DH will be going!! My husband went this yr. and I am SO proud of him. And I have looked at a lot of their literature etc. and can't find any fault.. How can anyone pick apart promisekeepers?? I thought we wanted guys to be more in touch, emotional, spiritual, and faithful???Mine came home with one point I love, in particular, "try to outserve your wife at home-cooking, cleaning , etc." Honestly, I tend to be quite sexist, having been abused in a "marriage" when I was young- to an aganostic liberal earthy type, I might add. And, anyway, I don't see where these guys are hurting anyone or any group. Maybe it is just threatening to some people to see men in a group ???I guess they don't often flock together unless it is in war. I am sure I could get bbq'd for this one but I really don't see any harm in promisekeepers. Yes, it is Christian and yes it is for men. But I don't know of any condemnation from them toward nonChristian nonmen..... You can look up zip codes and other stuff. Also, just another bit of info...if you use your 9-digit zip code, it can speed up your delivery up by at least one day. Also, if you write using black ink on white paper, using all capital letters with no punctuation, it will also speed through the machines faster.
