If you've e-mailed me your interest in this swap and I received your post, I've listed your name below. Anyone and everyone interested in swapping unmounted stamps or / and fun stamping supplies is welcome to send them in. Host: Stamperfly Items: I'm going to combine a swap for unmounted stamps and other fun stamping supplies. Cardstock, papers of any kind, stickers, etc. You can play in one or both of these swaps. Several people have expressed their interest in both swaps already. The advantage of combining these swaps is to save m oney in postage both ways. o Unmounted Stamps. Any quantity. Any type of stamps are welcome. With or without cushion. Stamps will be swapped by weight and consideration will be taken if there is cushion. Please share with me, when you send your stamps in, the kind of stamps you would NOT like to swap for, the kind of stamps you would like to receive. o Cardstock and other fun stamping supplies. Cardstock and stickers will be swapped by weight. If enough other items are sent, I'll work out something by contacting those who send them. Mailing Info: Please send a SAML. If you would use stamps on the package you send me, I would appreciate it so much because I use them for collages. TIA Since these items will be swapped by weight, you'll need to send in enough loose stamps or money to cover the return of your items plus one extra stamp, just in case. * If you are from out of the US, please take this into consideration and send any extra that will be needed. If you're swapping only a small quantity of stamps or paper send the same amount it cost you to get your items here plus one extra stamp. If you choose or if you have a lot to swap, it would be best to consider priority mail. up to 2 pounds = $3.00 " " 3 pounds = $4.00 " " 4 pounds = $5.00 " " 5 pounds - $6.00 more than this, depends on the weight I'll e-mail each individual that has contacted me already personally with my snail mail address and this information. Postmarked By Due Date: October 4th, the packages need to be in the mail on or before this date (Saturday, October 4th). I plan to have these swapped and returned before Halloween. Last year for gifts, I gave personalized Christmas ornaments. I took the round textured ornaments (not the shiny ones). I used Marvy Wet Looks embossing markers and wrote the name on one side and the year on the opposite side. I then embossed it. Be careful not to get burned though because the glass gets hot!! I would hold the heat gun a little further away than if you are using paper. Then I used the tiniest stamps and made an all over design, embossing after I stamped a couple of images and until the ornament was done. I embellised the finished ornament with a ribbon bow (Debbie's 1" organza ribbon would be perfect). Everyone I gave one to absolutely loved it. They aren't too expensive and people will think of you every year while decorating their Christmas tree!! Some good combinations were red ink on gold, red ink on pink ornament, white on green or red ornament and gold on blue, green or red ornaments. Have fun!! (tip included) (long winded........stamping tip at the end) Stampie, FIRST..... I REALLY resent this < "Have you ever met a woman that didn't bad mouth another behind her back? "> ( BTW the post you responded to, mine, and the text you attributed to me, wasn't mine. I was responding to another post by another list member and applauding with wholehearted agreement !! ) I am a woman, and if there is one thing I was taught while growing up it's that if I can't say what I'm thinking TO an individual then DON'T say it to someone else ! Why you may ask ? Well, if I'm going to disagree with someone, I would much rather they hear what I have to say FROM ME, than hear it (slightly modified in most cases) from someone else !! If what I think or say causes an arguement, oh well, then we argue. BUT....the argument is strictly between the two of us and doesn't involve others that have no business or interest in the issue we disagree on. Maybe I've been really lucky when chosing friends, but, I have to say that the vast majority of my "women" friends feel the same way and live by the same rule !!! Have we argued ? Oh yes !! Are we still friends ? OH YES !! More than a handful of these women have been friends for over 20 years !!!!! All are either active duty military or spouses of military members and that makes 20 year friendships a little hard to maintain.......but we do !!! Here on this list, there are Mom and Dad (aka Janet and Frank) who oversee things and SHOULD be the FIRST contacted regarding SSS problems, as Frank has already pointed out, and has to do about midway through every SSS swap it seems !!! (sheesh....that has to be a pain !!!) Doing things the right way isn't hard and sure makes your circle of friends much larger in the end !! OK, I got that off my chest. NOW.......tip time (this is long too) redecorating the dining room I was tired of wallpaper and wanted to paint. But not the "usual". I found a clipart image of a rose that I really liked and wanted to stamp it on the walls (to look like wallpaper) but didn't want to do the different color thing. I took the clipart rose and cut a compressed sponge (the kind that is flat and expands when put in water) in the shape of the rose. Then (before I got it wet) I transfered the inside lines to the sponge and using a real sharp exacto blade, I cut grooves in the sponge about 1/8 of an inch wide and less than 1/16 of an inch deep. (gotta be real careful not to cut all the way through the sponge, a small groove in the sponge gets really deep when you get it wet and expand it) (the simpler the image, the better it works) Then I took the paint I had put on the wall (a cream color, latex) and added gold interference paint to it. I used this to stamp my roses on the wall. It turned out GREAT !! When the lights are out in the dining room you can't really see that there is anything there at all, BUT when you turn on ANY light the rose images just pop right off the walls !! I like the look SO much my next project is redoing a bedroom with a lattice and ivy stencil I really like and trying gold interference for the lattice and green interference for the ivy, mixing them with the same color latex already on the walls. Now all I have to do is find the time to get it done !!! If you made it this far reading this post I applaude your patience, you're a saint !! Thanks for letting me vent ! There is really no difference between the rubber mounted and the wood mounted as far as the stamped image is concerned. The major difference is that with the rubber mounted you can sometimes get the edge of the rubber in your stamped image b/c it is not trimmed close to the image. Do you know what I mean? If you don't, I will try to explain it further. However, I have trimmed all of my rubber mounted stamps close to the image and have remounted them either on the rubber that was provided, or onto wood blocks that I purchased at a stamping store. I love this topic - we're so talented and resourceful ;-) My favorite SIMPLE thing to stamp is blank white index cards. They are dirt cheap, and my favorite way to test-drive new stamps and inks. I stamp these to get my creative juices flowing, or when I want to stamp - but don't necessarily want to make cards or undertake a real project. Then I'm left with beautiful (LOL) and useful index cards everywhere ... my purse and briefcase and Franklin Planner, in my baskets, car, desk, office, by the phone, the computer. More fun, aesthetically pleasing and sturdier than scrap paper. For lists, for notes, whatever! When I give people gifts, I ususally throw in a small stack tied up with ribbon. If I'm really feeling crazy, I dude up the corners with my Fiskars Corner Edgers. (LOL) I love the 3 x 5 cards and the 4 x 6 size too, and buy hundreds at a time at Office Max. I'd like to thank you for al of your support. I have finally made it through this week! It seems like its been a century. My paper was FedEx'd on Wednesday as well as faxed so now I don't have to think about that for a while. I turned in my two horrendous problems - one took 18 pages and another took 16 - just for one problem - yuck! And, I survived the terrible test I had yesterday. Actually the test wasn't nearly as bad as the prof had played it up to be. I think he was playing mind games with us. I went out and had some fun with friends last night. Its homecoming here this weekend so there were a few activities associated with that to go to. We discussed the test for 15 minutes or so and then the subject was off limits. I think I'm go to get some laundry and other miscellaneou cleaning done tonight, then go to the homecoming game tomorrow and then I'm having friends over to watch the Vikings game and eat pizza on Sunday. In between all that I'll squeeze on some homework, but my top priority this weekend will be to get a recharge. Again, thanks for all your encouragement and suggestions throughout the week. I knew all along I'd make it just fine, but sometimes the volume gets turned down so much you don't hear it unless you really listen for it. I did not heat, but left it to dry for days. The result was quite nice. The liq app stick to the embossed surface.
