What we are experiencing right now is a little on the extreme side. It makes me sick. What ever happened to 'do unto others'? This is NOT typical of the fun and love we usually share. It *is* overshadowing the great stuff we normally share. If everyone would just stop it we could go back to having fun! It is happening, but very slowly! When I can't find figure out to what to do as a border, I tear out my image and get a good torn edge, then I take a marker and go around the edges or the tear. It kinda bleeds and looks really cool. When you stamp a scene, or any image for that matter and it's kinda plain...cut it in 4 squares and arrange like window panes with spaces in between them all. This is fun and easy. hmm...what else?....I keep a box of all my scraps when I'm tearing off corners or sizing down cardstock. Later I use them in collages. I keep almost everything!!! When you are tearing the edges of mulberry paper to get that ripped look, save the little pieces that you tear off. Next time you make paper, use them in the blender to get your own mulberry papers! My SS sent me a small nerf ball that makes cool backgrounds. I do it in several colors on the same card. Ink it up with a stamp pad and stamp away. My best tip of all....go to garage sales! Can't even tell you how much stuff I find there and my mind is focused on rubberstamping whenever I see something. I have found really old music sheet books that are all tattered that look good in collages. I have found someone's old black and white pictures that go good in collage too. Cheap wrapping paper, old xmas cards. I once got a whole stack of blank cards that were gold metallic cardstock!!!! I find all kinds of rubbermaid containers for EP. And all kinds of little holders for pens, pencils, etc. I love garage saling!!! One man's junk is another man's treasure!!! Ok, tired of typing. Maybe more tomorrow. They are required to put $5.00 in a savings account. Over a period of time, it adds up! Plus, they put some of their birthday money in savings. My part to help them is by taking them each week to do this. Yes, it's a weekly paper. They are responsible for bringing them into the house, packing them into plastic bags for delivery, getting them into our van and delivering. We also require them to put away their clothes, feed the animals, they also help do things like take out the garbage, clean the sinks in the house, each one has "dishwasher duty" That means each one has certain things they have to put away from the dishwasher, loading it when they are finished eating. They also help in lots of other ways. We live in the country and Aaran and Chris have helped mow the back 40! They thought that was cool! My DH and I cannot afford to give them all allowance every week, but I teach them in a family, every one needs to help because we all live here and need to help. After all, we are all here and we all make messes!! BUT, their rewards are the movies, rented or going with Dad. We like to go to TCBY for yogurt, etc. Those are things we reward our kids with. They are not only building memories with their parents, but they have their own money that they raised themselves. They spend their money the way they like because they saved the $5. Sometimes, it is for needed items, other times it is for ???? When we go on vacation, they are given some money, but they each saved between $30-$40 for vacation. They love to eat, too!! Junk food on vacation is a great treat! So are a new pair of sunglasses that they bought and take very good care of, too! They have also earned money by selling "Aaran's magazine pages" and Olympia Sales on their own. They will be survivors like their parents! They reason their money out and know when it will run out and they think it through. Just thought I would share my .02 on my family. It's nice to share and hear how other families do things. :) HUGS!
