Anyway, it was really easy and he was the hit of the neighborhood--he got extra candy for having the best costume. It was really easy to make. For his head and body we used boxes covered with foil. A hanger and styrofoam balls for his antenna. Dryer hose (very inexpensive at the hardware store) for his legs and arms. Those little creamer cups and milk jug lids for knobs and we drew the dials--or you can stamp and emboss ;) We had fun putting this together and listening to all the compliments. Hope this helps. I was the Empire State Building, complete with king kong, fay wray, and a circling plane on top. Here's how I did it: Got 2 boxes at the liquor store, one smaller than the other. Stacked them on top of each other and glued the smaller box to the bigger one (think I used the flaps). They were stacked so that the openings were downward. Cut an opening in the bottom of the larger box...my head went through this opening and the larger box rested on my shoulders. Spray painted the whole thing silver grey. Then (this was a pain and took several afternoons because I'd get bored and go away) I painted black or yellow (for lit up) windows all around all 4 sides of the "building". I cut 6 or 8 of the front ones out for eyeholes. I used a monkey hand puppet for king kong, just tied him to the top of the building. I used the aerial off a broken radio for the aerial/lightning rod on the top of the building (the magazine I found the costume directions in called for a dowel, had no idea what that was, so this was my own inspiration). Used a "Dawn" doll (remember them?) for Fay Wray but any small Barbie type doll (but smaller than Barbie) would do. Finally, I used the fine wire aerial off a radio-controlled car (but a wire hanger would work) -- attached it to the top of the lightning rod, attached the other end to a tiny plastic plane, and had a plane to spin around the top. I was sooooo proud of the costume. I won a prize that year. Usually I had grand plans but they never worked out quite right. That costume was perfect. I would recommend, however, that he take it off when crossing streets and such. The eyeholes kept me fron falling off porches but they weren't very safe otherwise. Hosted by Dragon folk. All I can say is WOW!! And I'm glad to have participated in it. I received 7 (?) cards and they're all so wonderful and I know I won't do justice to describe them and I hope that everyone who gets my card will forgive me!!! Mary Wolaniuk used black, line look cardstock. She layred it with a piece of torn, thick, clothlike handmade paper with pieces of straw or whatever in it, on it a piece of a map and a stamp from Japan, I think. And a stamp, cut out, of a big fly or some other bug and a moon with a face on it. Nice composition. Dianne Adams, wow, she made a bird's nest, with feathers and a twig and some ribbon stuff and what not, I just can't describe it, but I do know is that when I put this card outside in the garden a bird would happily make it it's home!!. She also stamped a picture of a birdhouse on it (Magenta). Lex used dark purplish blue cardstock. Glued on waves made out of light blue paper, glued on some tiny shells (which survived the trip BTW) and a large gold metal fish charm. On a seperate piece of paper she stamped a woman hugging the sun, colored it a layered it on top of the waves, with 3D tape. Dragonfolk made a card out of black cardstock, stamped "journey" all over it in gold. Glued 2 strips of cut out cardstock on it and some silver stuff with holes in it :-) and on top of that a stamped face on a piece of green oval card stock. Michelle Picken made a small green card and cut out a heart from tissue paper and a heart cut out from a doilie and a stamped heart, gold embossed and colored red. Karen Mehl made a card out of a strip of army green cardstock and a strip of torn brown paper on top of it. Using Rubbernecker and Rubber stamps of America leave stamps, stamped on separate pieces of paper, cut out, colored and lacquered (I think) and glued them all over the card using 3D tape. It looks as if the leaves are blowing in the wind. Annette Cramers used blue cardstock, layered with white glossy cardstock, which was sponged or brayered in different colors. She layered different colors of tissue paper on it and stamped some fish (That's all she Stamped) on seperate pieces of papers, colored them and glued them on the card. Well, I received some beautiful cards, so many different ideas! First Merlene: She made a beautiful card using white, linen look card stock. She layered it with green cardstock. Then on top the put nicely cut out white linen look cardstock, brayered in soft colors, blue, lilac, pink, yellow and on it she stamped 3 different butterflies and gold emboosed them. On the inside she did blue clouded cardstock, nicely cut out with deckle sissors, and when you open the card it folds out . Very hard to describe it!! Jessica Edwards made a card with white glossy card stock which she brayered with a sponge brayer and a mix of sky blue/rose dye ink. She stamped carousel horses on it (Halos), they're all over the front of the card and seem to "walk" off the card becuase she also stamped them over the edge. Beautiful. Aleta Pentecost made a "landscape" card on glossy card stock. She brayered it in pink and blue. She stamped mountains on it (Commotion) and a sign saying "Gone Fishin" (Impressive stamps) And some fish merrily swimming along ((Dirce Country Folk). Also very nice, like all the cards I received. Susan (Aka Coffee Stamper) (I haven't been raked by her :-(, but now I do have one of her great cards :-)!!! hint, hint!) She used white cardstock with rounded corners and heart corner punches. She brayered it green and stamped it with a BEAUTIFUL botanical stamp from Red Castle (I want this one, I want them ALL) and glued a green ribbon on the card. Well, Stargazers card is very hard to describe!! Let me begin to say that it's beautiful. It's made out of dark blue linen look cardstock and stamped it in silver. It's a kind of a cross, with lilies on it? And then she stamped the same stamp in black on glossy cardstock and brayered it in different colors (she must have as it's a brayer swap :-) and there are also glitters on it (very subtle) and then she layered it on the card using 3D tape, or something like that. Well, I did my best, but didn't do it justice. Heather Reilly made a card out of white cardstock and brayered it in red/pinkish colors and stamped it using South West stamps from Magnastamp clearsnap, which she embossed using pink glitter ep. I love the stamps and the cards. Well, that's it. I will add the cards to my rapidly growing collection and will drool over it from time to time. Thanks Merlene for hosting this. Oh, and did I forget to mention the beautiful wallpaper envelope that it came in?? Shame on me!! What a perfect calendar for stamping. I've ordered several to give as gifts and hope to find the time to stamp on them. I'm planning to give a couple to stamping friends and let them do their own stamping. I've acquired quite a collection of House Mouse stamps and think they'll be perfect on there. If you haven't ordered one of these calendars, check them out. You won't be disappointed. I also want to ask if you sell "Stamp Out Cute" rubber stamps. I love these images and must buy some soon! I looked through the catalog and kept laughing and coming up with ideas. I think the person hosting the "Stamp Out Cute" swap sent it to me, but I am sorry to say that I forgot her name. Thanks again and please step forward. You made my day! Lisa, Normally, I would consider this just someone upset with MS. But last Wed, I tried someones system after installing all of these "nice" things, and it appeared to have re-scaled the printer so that the html pages print "better". The bottom line being, is that it appears to tell the application writer that the printer is one size and then re-sizes on the fly for you. Meaning for me, that if someone created a box with an 4 inch side, that when it prints on that system, it will print as a 3.75 inch side. AND I have not been able to find how to override this "feature". That is what Fit-it was not shipped this weekend.
