Received this over the weekend and was out of town...sorry for the delay in posting. I received some great cards! I'll do my best to describe them...although I'm not too good at doing this! Thanks Shell for hosting this and letting me sign up at the last minute! Shell sent a Thank You postcard with some cute ants w/picnic foods from Whippersnapper. Cute! Ruth Soldavini - Cute tiny ants stamped on white confetti (? not sure if this is what it's called) cardstock. She has layered a swatch of wallpaper and mulberry on top of this. A big "po-boy" (that's what we call it in Louisiana!) sandwich stamped, cut out and is 3-D with mounting tape. "Happy Day" stamped in red and cut out with decorative edge scissors. A couple of ants stamped on top of the po-boy! All in a clear envy with little plastic ants :) Great card! Lori Nelson-A large ant cut out of black paper w/a googly eye! This is on top of kewl decorated paper that has watermelons and black and white checks and layered onto red cardstock. Inside are several tiny ants stamped and "It's a Picnic" with "time, date, and place" This is a really cute invitation! Love the "googly" eye :) Michelle (?)- Gift sized card with tiny ants walking with a beetle type bug walking also. Has the phrase "Life is a picnic, But watch out for the ants" on front of card. Inside card is a really kewl ladybug stamp that has the wings open on the ladybug. I've never seen a ladybug stamp with it's wings open like this. Really nice card! Erna Jensen - Layered on cream colored cardstock, a swatch of pale pink mulberry with an ice cream cone being carried away by 3 ants stamped, cut out and put on top of the mulberry. She has glued 3 tiny plastic ants onto card and a raffia bow finishes it off. Cute! Lil' Inker -Rubber Stamp Factory bear, Rubberstamp Ave basket of buns and ant all stamped on white cardstock -- the ant on top of the bun basket w/the bear sitting next to basket --great job of masking! Grass and clouds all look great. "Thinking of You" stamped random in the clouds. This whole scene was cut out with decorative scissors and layered on red cardstock that has the corners edged with Nostalgia edger. Inside card, she has put a nice piece of gray/cream cardstock decoratively edged with the same ant in grass stamped in corner. This is a great card also!! Thanks for all these cards -- I have enjoyed them! This was a fun swap to do and thanks again, Shell for hosting and for all the plastic ants! Hosted by Bossybones. She enclose a few cute stickers. Thank you very much! Well, needless to say, all the cards I received were blue!! :-) And they were also beautiful. So, that's my describtion HA! just kidding. Here we go: Dotswood made a window card. She sponged white card stock blue with a seasponge. Made a nice curtains for the window and has a frog (Rubberstamps of America) looking outside at another frog, who's dancing in the rain holding his umbrella high. This stamp was made by her mother-in-law, so I assume it's not for sale :-(??. Anyway, she stamped "him" on blue "bubbly" paper, which she made by blowing paint bubbles with a straw and laying paper on top of it, kinda like marbling paper. I tried that once, but it didn't work. I'll have to try it again. RGowen made a card with dark blue cardstock with nicely cut out corners on the outside she stamped several gold embossed stars, also some sticker stars and some glitter and in the middle she stamped (on a seprate piece of paper, cut out, glued on using 3d tape) and image of a planet with stars around it. On the inside, left she stamped several gold emboosed stars. And on the right, on a seperate piece of paper she stamped: Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. Stars and glitter all around it. Doc Pengi used penguin stamps. Is that a coincidence?. Anyway, blue cardstock, layered with blue mulberry paper (torn), on ita stamp of a large white snowflake with a black penguin in the middle, all embossed. And underneath she stamped "Friends love you just because". On the inside some small white snowflakes and a group of black penguins. Oh, so cute!! Twyla Miller, used blue card stock, layered with turquiose and white. On the white cardstock she stamped 4 images of Aztec figures and in the middle an image of Quetzalcoatl, the plumed and winged serpent god of both the Toltecs and the Aztecs. Well, I had to look that up in my encyclopedia (spelling?) NOT!Twyla wrote that down for me!!! Lovabc (?) Stamped a nice winterscen on white glossy cardstock, with a blue sky (sponged) a white glittery moon and and blue glittery (christmas) trees (what do you call them??) on the white she stamped: "May this day and always be filled with joy and love". Such a nice card!! This has such a great theme all through it. You really put some thought into this card. Very creative. Peachjam1: Sent a cool blue stamped card with a spoon , cup and saucer images and for sugar she used crystal blue embellished cubes. Inside the card is a border that matches the sugar cube shapes stamped in blue all around the upper and lower portions of the card. All on off white cardstock. KAY : WOW I have never seen this done before. Guess what stained glass. It is an image of a fan with roses in the center. And thank you for including the instructions and article from Somerset Studio on this technique also the tip on where to buy the supplies. Does this take forever? I have to try this. Absolutely beautiful card. DJ: Ok, how did you do this card? It is just gorgeous. Layered on Dark blue card stock is what looks like to me a airbrushed image of sailboats on the ocean with a green mountain in the distance. I can't stop looking at this card to try and figure out how you did this there is no color on the sails of the boats in the foreground and the sails on the boats in the distance are blue. This card has such a nice soft look to it. Bossy: This card I am assuming is yours but there is no name on it. But on the thoughtful card you enclosed with all the swap participants in my mailing ,your name is there. So here goes, On dark blue cardstock is layered a light blue shimmery cloth and on top of that is a Large dark blue star with a smaller white star pattern in it. The edges of the card are trimmed with decorative scissors. Everyone, Michelle is going to spotlite me and my company in her newsletter. And as I told her on the phone, I love the quality of her newsletter, and the amount of information that she has included in the first issues that I have. In the Sept issue there were over 10 items on stamping/scrapbooking. And after seeing the number of responses to my plea to get in contact with her, it would be wise for no one to say anything negative about her, she has lots of friends on this list. I received some beautiful cards! ??? - Pink speckled cardstock with rounded corners layered with purple speckled cardstock with rounded corners. On top is a diamond of white confetti paper with rounded corners stamped with a cute mailbox colored with pencils with a HUGE beautiful pink flowered tapestry bow edged with gold on the top. Just lovely. ??? - White semi-glossy cardstock edged in green marker layered with white paper with green polka dots also edged in green marker. Inside that is a rectangle of white cardstock edged in green with the Thinking of You bouquet with prisma glitter on the flowers. Very classy. Cindy (MacVR@aol.com) - speckled tan cardstock, with an rectangular oatmeal layer cut with deckle scissors in which is stamped a large rectangular sectioned stamp with sumflowers stamped in each of the outside sections and "Friends are the Sunshine of Life" in the middle. It was colored with markers and the words are all green except for "sunshine" which is a deep yellow. Nice touch. There is a jute bow tied in the top left corner which is exactly the thing that belongs there. Very nice. LHeale@aol.com - a green gingham was stamped on the card, layered in green corrugated paper. On top of that is a light grey cardstock with a beautiful chalked picture of a birdhouse on a pole, and a park bench with a hat on it. Above it it says "Simple pleasures are life's greatest treasures". Very pretty card. HDWard@aol.com - colonial blue cardstock with a white layer on front which has clouds on it? How did you do that??? Flowers were stamped along the bottom of the layer and 3-d'ed on top of that is a sun and an angel bunny with glittery wings in a country dress holding a watering can flying over the flowers. There is a small pink net bow in the top corner. Inside is a white layer with the garden flowers on the bottom and the verse says "little words of kindness, little acts of love .. bring us just a little bit of heaven from above". Very, very nice! Thanks to everyone who participated because I got some very COOL cards!!! LOL My Father in Law saves all of mine that I send him...that reminds me I haven't sent him anything in awhile. My mother saves them too. But Moms are supposed to do that sort of thing! I save give them away...what good is your art if you can't share with the world or others.... Picasso or Monet didn't keep their paintings in their homes for themselves..how silly. My 2 cents.
