It was so far out that there was no electricity. When the doctor arrived, no one was home except for the laboring mother and her 5 year old child The doctor instructed the child to hold a lantern high so he could see while he helped the woman deliver the baby. The child did so, the mother pushed, and after a little while, the doctor lifted the new born baby by the feet and spanked him on the bottom to get him to take his first breath. I make mostly postcards and I always keep one of everything I make. Plus I have lots that I made just for myself to work out an idea or just for my own pleasure or whatever. (But then I have always collected postcards. ) I do, however, send out 90% of the greeting cards I make. The other 10% I keep for reference if I did something unusual or particularly like the arrangement/technique. My favorite ones I have hanging from a fishnet on the wall in front of my worktable. I find that looking at these inspires to create more. More than looking in the stamping magazines even. Probably because its easier for me to go off on a tangent from something that was generated by my own mind in the first place. Traveling on similar tracks and tangents, if you will. If I'm stuck, I can usually sit there and just veg out for a while staring ahead of me and usually something will start to gel. I'll see something, an element of a previous picture, and expand on it or twist it in some other new way. And I tend to be forgetful too, so it helps there also. I have often gone back to one of my earlier cards and redone it in a more advanced, elaborate fashion than when I first created it. Had I not had my earlier sample, I would most likely have forgotten the entire original idea. Plus I just like to keep a record of my work and how its changed and progressed for my own sake. Its my history. I have often gone back to one of my earlier cards and redone it in a more advanced, elaborate fashion than when I first created it. Had I not had my earlier sample, I would most likely have forgotten the whole thing. My father kept a lot of the paintings and drawings his father made. I have some of my father's work and am very proud of it. Maybe someday my son will pull out some of the artwork I did and show his kids and tell them, "This is the strange and crazy stuff your Gramma used to do instead of cleaning the house." (Of course, whether they'll feel pride or shame remains to be seen! ) Feathers ***Rubberstampers always bounce back!*** This message was from feathersmc@juno.com (G M) - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
