Hi all, I was RAK'd by my "neighbor" Christine Cox. She sent a waycool celestial card. On gray cardstock she sponged (I think) and then used sparkly gold EP. Across the middle is a burgandy band of cardstock with a little gold sun on it. What company sells this stamp? I've been looking for a tiny sun like this. Thank you Christine for the cool card and I can't forget the neat handmade envy!! Today I received a beautiful postcard from Bonnie Hoffman. On burgandy cardstock, she splattered (or maybe stippled) and used gold EP for the background. She layered white on top and stamped a bouquet of lilies colored with markers. Below is the text "And the two shall be called one. Matthew 19:5". She embossed all the edges of the layers. WOW! I don't know how you got them so straight. Great job!! Thank you Bonnie for the beautiful card and nice note! I am looking for three stamps. The first one is a scarry witch, with maybe a wart on the end of her nose, gnarly hands, and maybe a stick for a cane. The second stamp I would like is of a scared black cat. The cat looks like he just stuck his paw in a light socket and his back is all hunched up. The third stamp is a set of eyes. Just eyes -- like an owl in the dark. The eyes I was on a card done by Barb Speck on the Gingerwood site. Finally, is there anyone out there selling Stamp A Claus? If so, please let me know. I think the little note about posting to both lists is a great idea! I actually posted this a couple days ago, but when the big system burped, I think it all got lost in cyberspace...I never saw it on the email..so will repost. IF you saw it already, just hit that delete key!!! Carol Ferrier made avery elegant card (amazing that flies can be elegant??). She used off white linen cardstock and made a gold pen border line. Inside the line are scattered flies, colored with metallic colors. In the center is a rectangle of exotic metallic snakeskin paper, and a black rectangle is mounted on that. Then, on off white is a portion of a profile stamped in black, with one nasty little fly sitting right on the nose! Theis is mounted at an angle on the black. Very nicely done! Oakelymc (sp?) made a card and envelope of golden ridged paper. In the center is a rectangle of light brown with a large piece of pie embossed in a coppery color. A big old black and white fly is sitting on the pie. Shoo! Nice use of the theme...I wanna swat this guy! Candy Ball used off white cardstock and chalks to color her design. There is a funny cartoon horse standing behind a fence with a cloud of little black flies aroundhim. In the distance is a windmill, and a great big fly with the face of a horse is headed for the poor horsie! Very funny..love the expression on the horses' face! GConnolly used a tan parchment design cardsstock for her card. She stamped a fly in very light brown all over the front. Sheused decorative scissors to edge the cardstock. She took burnt sienna colored paper and cut two small rectangles of it, stamped that fly in gold all over them, and then cut two even smaller rectangles of beige and stamped the fly with black ink and colored him. She use brown pen to make a line style frame around the fly. Very nice use of a single stamp for a very effective card. (Bet your hand got tired, stamping all the flies??) Valerie Bernunzio used grey cardstock and a drk grey ink tostamp repeated images of a shoe and a fly...two rows of images. Under each one is stamped and embossed in gold either the word shoe or fly...very nice design..and a super great fly image! Johanna Sakamoto used white cardstock and made a faint stendciled cloud background on the front. She stamped three shoes (a boot, a high heel, and a tennis shoe) and colored them. She stamped a pair of feathery wings for each shoe, and attached them with sticker paper. In the lower corner it says "shoes fly". Inside the card is a lady waving a flyswatter, saying "shoo, flies" as she is being attacked by a horde of flies and one giant dragon fly! Very clever, nice surreal effect! I am always amazed by the creativity of everyone !!! Thanks for the great cards!! I posted a couple swap descriptions two days ago and they must have gotten lost in the cyber-burp because I never saw them.Sigh. So I will rewrite the...here goes: Boomer hosted the "When You Wish Upon A star " swap... thanks for all your efforts! Denise used yellow cardtock and stamped clusters of stars in shades of yellow, orange and lavendar on the front. Sher has larger lavendar stars and a little angel holding a patchwork star, embossed in gol and colored in markers. Then in the upper left corner, she cut out a star shape and put silver mylar (?) behind it so it shines. On the inside whe handwrote"You are my shining star"...clever idea! Alllison used light blue cardstock and stamped a delicate design of clouds, stars and culicues on the front, and embossed it with a blue and silvery shimmer powder. In the center is a cluster of stars and the center largest one is colored in with silver. The silvery hues give a very ethereal feeling to the card. Now...all the other cards and things in this swap came with no names on them!! C'mon, please put your names on them! You need to take credit for your work...otherwise, "I" get the credit (being Ann-onymous)...so, here is a description of items by "unknown " stampers... Bookmark: Pale stock with bluish fibers in it, on the front it has been stippled in blue shads, then an angel blowing a horn from which issues stars had been embossed in gold. She is delicately colored in...very pretty! Bright red cardsstock is used for a cheery get well card..."Feel Better Soon" is stamped in gold in the center, and each corner has a gold stamped patchwork star. Egglant cardstock was used for the next card. The front is covered with little twinkly stars stamped in gold, and then all around the edge, this stamper wrote "When you wish upon a star" with dark pen...nice use of the swap theme! Heavy navy cardstock is used for the last card. On the front is stamped star mages in yellow. Then a smiling sun image was stamped with a ainbow pad onto glossy cardstock, and then cut out .Two of these are mounted, off center in the middle of the card...very attractive! I don't know how long they will have it. It came up on their computer as being discontinued. My local store is going to be ordering as much as they can pre-cut into the half-sheets (8 1/2" x 5 1/2"). Stir glue into water and stir for 1 more minute. Add 2-4 liters of water, keep stirring. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes, stir now and then. IMPORTANT: The thicker the mixture the more you're able to manipulate the colors, so remember that when you're adding water. Don't leave it too thick, because that will make it messy to work with. Put mixture in bowl. Mix oilpaint with turpentine until it's fluid. With a pipette you can put drops of paint onto the mixture. Use 2 or 3 different colors.Make swirls and patterns with a tooth pick. Now you can put the paper onto the mixture. Use a medium heavy kind of paper. Hold it at 2 opposite corners, and from the middle gently lay it onto the surface. Take it out and lay it flat onto your serving tray. With sponge and a fair amount of water, wash the glue from the paper. Don't worry about spoiling the colors or patterns, you won't. The paint is already fixed on the paper. Hang it on a clothesline or lay flat to dry. Now, with the newspaper take up the old paint from the mixture. (sometimes you can use it twice, the second time the colors are lighter). You can also use your brush to put the paint onto the mixture, and swirl it around. Dont's swirl and twirl around too much, because it gets muddy. You can also use a comb! It's best to do this outside on a sunny day! Have fun everybody!! Mine turned out beautiful. (I have tried this before years ago, but without the wallpaperglue and it didn't work at all, so if you failed too, try this, it worked for me!!!) Thank you Jill Britton and StamParadise stampclub for hosting this. Also thanks for the card stock and envy AND THE CHOCOLATES!!! Reading all those posts about people receiving chocolates with their orders or just as RAKs always made my mouth water. And now I got my own. Well, I can tell you, they survided a whole 2 minutes outside of the envelope before being eaten by this great big chocolate loving monster: MOI!! Also liked the baggie that they came in. Ok, and now for the cards. Let me start with telling that they're all very beautiful, so that I don't have to repeat myself all the time. Let's start with Dee Volk's card. It's a collage kind of a card. With a nice background of apples and other fruit. On it she layered a cut out and colored pumpkin (Hero Arts) and she stamped leaves (Rubber Stampede) on another piece of cardstock, in different colors and cut them in strips and layered them on the background just a bit apart. She finished it with a raffia bow. A (?) Coyle, made a card out of bright yellow cardstock, cut out a blue tree and layered it with stamped and cut out leaves (PSX). A very "happy" card. Kate Hill made a very elegant card out of tan speckled cardstock. She used a PSX leave stamp (I think PSX have the most beautiful stamps in the world!!!), which she randomly stamped on the card, she embossed one leave. and she stamped another leave in the corner and cut it out. An unknown artist made a card out of dark green cardstock and inside she made an inlay of creme paper. On the outside she glued an autumn leave of cloth and glued glitter on it. On top is a stamp of a scarecrow in a pumpkin patch stamped on creme cardstock, colred and cut out. I think it is a PSX stamp (?) Another unknown artist made a card out of dark orange card stock (the back is creme colored) and she stamped an autumn landscape on a smaller piece of creme cardstock, so that the orange cardstock looks like a frame. There's a tree and clouds and grass and autumn leaves and an animal (I just can't think of the English name at the moment, it'll come to me after I've sent this message, no doubt). Anyway, it's a nice scene. The cards are all great and I enjoyed participating in the swap. My next door neighbor has a 3 year old named Logan that decided to take a hammer to the door of her brand spanking new van a few days ago. Looks like he hammered it about 50 times. Yep, it's the same kid that cracked two of my ceramic tiles by dropping a glass jar of apple juice on it, the same kid that broke my daughter MIssy's canopy bedpost by swinging on it, the same kid that broker a very expensive vase in my house the same day he cracked my ceramic tile yada, yada, yada! Everytime he comes walking across the street to our house, we hide! Today the agenda includes the zoo, the library, McDonald's, and Slurpees. I won't be checking mail the rest of the day until tonight. I love these days. I hope the kids remember them when they're all grown up.
