As a matter of fact, I've done it on purpose with some of my more "difficult to I.D." unmounteds. Because when you ink them up, you can see what the image, albeit reversed, will look like when printed. And it won't harm the stamp at all. Yet my Mom is so particular that she shellacs the wood mounts all around the rubber and sides (she just refuses to deal with an unmounted system) before she uses them and gets real cranky if any ink doesn't get wiped off the shellac'd (how the heck is that spelled anyway?) wood immediately. But then she's only got about two dozen stamps and is quite satisfied with that number. Personally, I think Jody and my system lends itself to a much more relaxed frame of mind; C'est la Vie! Here's the skinny: Mark Hansen sent a black card with white embossed stars and a couple of cute little alien images mounted on top. I-SIS Stamps revealed the truth about Roswell. It's a military nudist camp, a storage site for Reagan's brain or a party place since Martian girls are easy. Don't ask because I can't explain it but the card is really clever! Fran Robertshaw's card shows the surface of the moon with little space ships flying around on a beautiful blue hologram background paper. Cathy the Grinch's card has funky little alien faces peering through window panes with a few bats thrown in for good measure. Red Rubberincess Holly has a dog with a rocket strapped to its back standing on the moon with a little alien spaceship looking on. She did a really nice postoid that says "the truth is out there". Kincher's card is so fun and has everything from aliens to Elvis. I need the stamp on the back that says "The End" and has a little alien sitting on a log with it's cute little butt crack showing. This is my second try for this! The list was down the first time. Well I am going to give this a try. I hope the list is working now. Part 2 of my September SS package came today. With all the griping that went on awhile back I just need to say that I have been so lucky with my SS. S/he is a gem. Well in my package I got 4 mounted stamps. My favorite is the baby with the cigar. There was a set of rubber mounted stamps with queen things, a bee, Elizabeth (me, me, me) a chess piece, a crown, the Q of hearts and my personal favorite the queen from alice in wonderland. In addition to that there was some raffia, ribbon, really pretty origami paper, sponges and some really neat EP. It is Judikins translucent gold. I have seen this before and I have always liked it but couldn't find it in a store. The greatest thing was a Dryline adhesive thing. So very cool. S/he wrote a note that said she had gotten me a gift certificate to pick up in my travels. I heard from baggie that she had something from my SS for me. It must be for the Stampers Garden. I haven't been out to Auburn in awhile. I'm sorry I spoiled the surprise. I haven't done a lot of stamp shopping lately as I was saving up for Artfest. Thank you so much for thinking of me. You always send the nicest packages. BTW I live on N 32nd not W 32nd. My mailman caught it so I don't think there was any delay in delivery. I find it to be really easy, and the mounts work super. The unmounteds are lots cheaper and its easier to store them. Cheaper means that I can have twice as many without feeling so guilty about the cost. It comes in clear, Plexi-400, or in many colors some with glitter.
