The demo would consist of showing how to use a die-cut machine for scrapbooking. There would also be stamping in the scrapbooks. The store owner & class co-ordinator want me to do this because of how I get along with the students in my classes (my class attendance has doubled in the past 2 months). The question is this, would you expect someone to come in and do the 4 hr. demo for free? The store is a 45 minute drive from home and I would have to pay for color copies of any photographs used. They would provide some of the supplies, but I am supposed to provide about half. In the past, whenever I did product demos, I was provided all supplies and paid by the hour. So this is surprising to me that they want to work it this way. Especially when I don't teach scrapbooking in their store. I teach the rubber stamping. Any advice would be helpful. Frank) Subject: Re: RS: Problems Writing/Feeling-emotions I do admire how eloquently others express themselves sometimes on this list, but I don't think but a couple of times have I ever felt intimidated or inferior to members on this list. This list is so good at helping others to "express" without speaking what others are thinking and feeling. My expertise happens to be in other areas. I am not a writer or even an artist (I play one on this list ; ) but when we express feelings from the heart, it is the "feeling" IN the heart which helps us to express deeply sincere emotions. Emotions are often times very hard to put into words - I know I just contradicted myself - but it works that way for me. Sometimes I can very easily articulate what I want to say and it comes across to others exactly that way. BUT there are the other times, when I feel like I am just rambling and no words seem to express what I want to say. That doesn't make us inferior in any way. We each have our strengths and weaknesses and we pull energy from each other. I love the people on this list. I can more fully express my feelings and emotions with the list than I can when talking to my sister (we are 7 years apart and seem to be in different worlds most of the time). She thinks stamping is dumb as well as all the other crafts I do. EXCEPT when she wants one of my finished rag rugs or wall hangings or eucalyptus Christmas wreaths, or painted t-shirts, etc.!! Anyway - thanks for listening - and please express yourself more often. You have to write daily to learn to write well. Try a daily journal that you spend 5 minutes each evening or morning writing your thoughts and feelings. It is hard at first, but it does get easier. Gotta go - my back is killing me. Sat out in 45 degree weather to watch my son play football. He has something like 150 yards rushing and I think 3 or 4 touchdowns tonight and several open-field tackles. I'm so proud of him. And there are more being manufactured and arriving this week. Julie, my daughter in law (JulieKahn@juno.com) is inspired and making designs daily. New to the collection will be Golda Meir with sayings....Yes but can she stamp? or Yes but can she type? I am really excited. Also we are now putting together gift bags with 2 mounted Chanukah Stamps, a stamp pad, 2 stickers, and directions! We will be selling these for $14.95 postage paid. One stamp will say Happy Chanukah, the other will be a graphic. Great gifts for kids and adults! Send orders to Ruth Treadwell, 3703 Tunbridge Wells SE, Salem Oregon 97302 Thanks! Do you enjoy the long drive and the depletion of your supplies? I would enjoy teaching classes but I wouldn't want to end up in the hole unless it was for a charity. Then I would probably do it anyway. If what you get out of it is the joy of sharing your art and the social interaction, then it might be worth it for you to go ahead and do it. If someone offered me that deal I would rather stay home and stamp or invite a few friends. My time is worth more than that. I arrived home after a busy week and there sitting on my table was a bigelow tea box! I knew right away what it was I got the greatest shaker card with pumpkin seed (I think?) A yummy recipe that I will make tonight. Copper glitter YEAH 12 sheets of cardstock which I promptly put to use :-) The sunflower seeds will be great in the spring for my son. Thanks for the great neverending card with instructions....its been on my list of things to learn. The witch is beautiful! Did you make it Sue? My son loves carrying it around The Glow in the dark ep is my favorite!!! I have looked for it everywhere. I will play with this forever. The butterfly magnets are wonderful. They will go up high on the fridge so Dylan can't reach them. The apple ribbon is perfect! I have many apple stamps. Dylan took the stickers, I still haven't found them. Winter is my favorite season, mainly because I love hot drinks. I can't wait to try the cappuccino. I know I am leaving stuff out Oh the sunflower pin is going to go on a denim hat I have. Thank you Thank you Sue, It was a delight to come home to great prizes I am now going to go lock my door and use the images you sent.
