I have this spider stamp and I like to use him with one side of the marble texture cube (because it looks like spider web). Anyway, this means I have to mask him. I HATE MASKING! The spider's legs are really intricate and as I started to cut them out (for the mask) I thought to myself "Self, if you have to do this every time, you are not going to use this spider." So I stamped him on a piece of laser printer transparency (on the rough side) in permanent ink and cut him out. Yes, it was tedious and yes, it did take a long time BUT I'll never have to do it again! Now I'm starting to do that with all of my more intricate stamps. Also, I have one of those cool Liquid Paper adhesive dispensers with the temporary film in it. I just put a little of that here and there on the acetate mask and it stays where I put it without messing up the card. I no longer need 8 hands to hold the mask in place. Cheers!!! It was a wonderful break-away for me as the Grandparents and DH watched the kids as I got to leisurely stroll around and have fun. The show was about half the size of the Puyallup show and it was mostly more area stamping stores and companys although DJ Inkers and Gumbo Graphis were there. I took advantage of 4 of the classes that were offered. Stamping Up showed how to make a Magic card and gave the pattern for it. Another class showed ideas for Christmas ornaments including the Rubernecker stamps and I got a pattern for making 2 birdhouse ornaments. For me this was a much more relaxed show to go to as I was not in the *accumilating* mode that I was in at Puyallup getting catalogs and such. I even took my left over pins from Puyallup and finished trading them there. It was a nice, no pressure time for me. This time I got a blank card to decorate, a couple of blank bookmarks to decorate (this is perfect because I had bought tassels and laminate earlier this year and haven't used them yet!) and some great colors of corrugated paper to use. I didn't have these nice bright and cheery colors, thank you! I also got some really neat silver paper I can't wait to play with and..... best of all......an absolutly gorgeous bookmark that I love and will always treasure! It has a very pretty tree scene on it with a night sky and a snow covered hill in front with some deer grazing. In the center are the words, Thinking of You and there is a pretty blue tassel on it. On the back my SS wrote a nice message just for me! Oh , thank you SS, you really know how to make someone feel special! Oh, and I think I have some clues........ this time I have a postmark from Utah. Hmmmm are you trying to get me off track. I still say you are no farther from me than the midwest! :-) And the bookmark has some initials. Hmmm are these yours? I'll have to check my list! Thanks SS for really making my day! Yesterday I turned 27 and even though the Post Office wasn't delivering ... My birthday was extra special! Lot's of celebrating this weekend, lot's of phone calls and cards and visits with friends, spoiled with presents! Highlights? Official Rosie O'Donnell edition Koosh Flingshots, Kitchen Aid Mixer, Cds, a new Kaleidocolor Inkpad, and a bunch of Mary Engelbreit goodies! TODAY I got a card from my SS for Oct-Dec. THANK YOU! This card is exquisite. Mauve cardstock in the form of a square, candy striped paper layered on the cover with a scalloped window that reveals a breathtaking teapot design -- (it looks like Penny Black?) that has been colored and glittered on some sort of plastic material? I'm sure there is name for this technique, but I am clueless. A lovely sheer, ivory, organiza(?) ribbon is laced below. And of course there is a happy birthday greeting inside, and she stamped and colored in smaller teapots inside and on the envelope. WOW! Thanks SS, I look forward to hearing from you again ... And if that wasn't cool enough, Karen Keolker who was my SS Feb-July sent me several virtual greetings -- bouquet, custom web page, horoscope, present ... you name it! Thanks sweetie ;-) xoxo, Michelle Cobb CobbStamp This message was from "Michelle Cobb" - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. It started with a trip to Stamp your Art Out, and many "sheckles" passed to the cash register of the owner!! Lunch at LaRosa's and a long look at many new stamp catalogs... many cries, sobbing and denial as miss Giggles ordered her share of goodies!! The next part of the journey was taking her for the "real short" hair cut!! All those beautiful black (no gray) curls lay on the floor and we both had tears. The day was completed with visits to a couple of gift shops and I was the guilty one for buying more teddy bears! The last stop included some Suzie Zoo cups and stickers, she needed them!! A dear friend forever, she is loved. >> Oh, how I wish I had been able to share in that wonderful day. I'm just a couple of hours away, you know. But, at the same time, I wouldn't have intruded for the world. One day, though, one day. Many thanks Christine (gifford1@ix.netcom.com) for the lovely RAK! Christine sent a beautiful Turquoise (sp?) cd layerd with black, then white mulberry paper, then more Turquoise stamped and embossed in Gold a flower pattern with double frame. Very striking, and one of my favorite colors (even if I'm not sure of the spelling). Inside was a some very kind sentiments and some stickers too! This was all tucked inside a handmade envy. I thought at first it was from an old canlander, but now that I look closer, I don't think so, but it is a good quality glossy flowery paper . Nice! Hi Stampers Well, I am pretty sure I have been Rakked because there was note in the package that said so. This is so exciting!!! I didn't know what I was signing up for exactly but I live an exciting life so why not??? I got some wonderful ex-swap cards from Jody MorrCatsNRubbr. Very unsual last name but then only a very special person would do something for a stranger that didn't even know what she was signing up for!!! I am just having a fit!!! This was sooo much nicer than the rest of my mail. Some of that was very dismal and not RAK-ish at all. I think my new mail policy will be to only open RAK's, presents and stamp orders. I don't like the rest of it anyway. Thank you Jody and thank you all for putting me in the program for this!
