Date: Tue, 23 Sep 1997 21:58:49 -0400 Message-ID: <19970923.215850.4326.0.RubberChickie@juno.com> Hey SSS Chickie, Boy was I glad when the mail man handed me a package instead of another registered letter!!! A big THANK YOU just for that!!! LOL This was another super month in the SSS department at the Grippa household! Someone has picked up on my love of cows! This month, not only did I receive another cute cow magnet, I got the cutest MOO thingy! If you don't know what a thingy is, it is where MOO is cut out of a block of wood. Then it is painted black and white of course, but the humpy part of the "M" at the bottom, is part of the cows udder!! The same color paint is used on the circles of the "O"s. It is just too cute. That is on a shelf in the dining room! Thank you so much. Oh, and before I forget and just talk about me! My SSS sent both Kayleigh and Mike pez containers that were a storm trooper and Darth Vader! They were thrilled, thanks so much for thinking of them! Ok, back to me!! I got an A La Art catalog! And can you believe this, my SSS wants to know what I like in the catalog!! Pretty scary, huh?!? And I ever got a stamp from them! It reads, "A great mom is worth her weight in chocolate chip cookies!" Too cute! And I was honestly looking at that before I opened the rest of my box! Decided I really shouldn't buy something like that for my self. And I now have a set of Tombo's in Black, Green, Red, Pink, and Blue! I love these markers and didn't have these basic colors! Have you been talking to someone that I don't know about??? This is starting to get a little freaky! I also got a much needed pair of Paper Edgers from Friskers. They are the ones called Majestic. I also got a stick of glue! Maybe I can keep this one away from the kids!! And I got a templet to write a note in and then fold it to become you envy! If is pretty cool. I also got three more pieces of mulberry paper. The red looks like it has little holes in it and the blue and yellow and streakes of black and silver in them. They are really neat looking. She also made me two pairs of cards that have been dry embossed. One with a carrage on the outside and "BABY" on the bottom of the inside. The other two with a summer theme along the bottom, sun, sea shell, fish, umbrella, and sand pail. These were done on bright yellow cardstock. The Baby was a nice, soft green. She even sent an extra card for me! Guess I will have to try it now that I have wonderful examples to look at! I also received envelopes for these! I also received some full sheets of yellow and white cardstock. And I got a full sheet of the paper that has a sticky back! AND I got a wonderful little packet with info on How to make a card and How to emboss! Could not have come at a better time! I think I actually end up cooking my EP like a cook my roasts! A "little" on the over done side!! I got the cutest little jelly jar, it is short and fat, hey, kind of like me!, filled with Jelly Belly's!! The jar was all decorated out with cloth between the lid and the seal and ribbon around the outside of the lid! All this was wrapped and so much fun to open! And I got the sweetest card! It is brown cardstock with tan corragated paper on top of that and the sweetest little puppy with a heart on his collar. And "Think of you" is on the side. The have been cut out and glued to the corragated paper and a tan raffia bow in the corner. Inside is the neatest verse. It is titled "Love Kit of Tender Treasures. And I got ALL the tender treasures in the envelope! It was just too special! I can't even begin to thank you enough! I started a card for you last month and was going to send it to glomom and things just kind of fell apart, I will do my very best to get it out soon! Thank you so much:) b. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* The psychiatrist said it was an excellent session. At the big Mansfied Mill vendor area, we spied a RS booth and had to go in. Both of us, more dh than me, he is more outgoing, started to visit and share about the list. The woman vendor wasn't responding or any too friendly so we left. D.H. notices we are being followed! A woman observed us and our attempts to converse and she took her portable chair/walking stick and was in pursuit!!! It turns out she has been stamping before stamping was stamping! Well, you know what I mean. She started 25 years ago with children's stamps, because that is all there was! She and her husband were so dear and we exchanged addy's and I told her the time to visit her son in Joliet would be Oct. 25 & 26 for the RS convention in Arlington Heights. She may do that. But she has a real desire to get on her son's computer and observe the list, I couldn't tell her enough about it!! Hope all of you in the rubberhood, will enjoy the above story - had to 500x my pleasure by sharing with you! In a message dated 97-10-15 14:32:55 EDT, dorothyf@dfsi.net writes: <> Dorothy, I don't know if someone else has already answered your question, but brayers are kind of like small paint rollers, except they're made for stamping (well, originally they were used for linoleum block printing) and the rollers are usually made of hard or soft rubber. We sell the Speedball soft rubber brayers with a 6" wide roller, which lets you ink it up on your stamp pad and then roll it out on a piece of cardstock. Covers the whole paper with ink and lets you make nice backgrounds, especially if you use a rainbow pad. You can also use water-based markers (such as Marvy or Tombow) and draw directly on the soft rubber brayer, then roll it out to make your own patterned cards. It's handy for inking up really large-sized stamps, too, because you get very even coverage (like if you're using the large Magenta stamps or Toad Hall's extra-big stamps). My mom was a graphic artist for many years and used a soft rubber brayer to burnish papers she was gluing together. (It gives even pressure to press cards together without getting inky fingerprints all over them...provided you've cleaned your brayer ahead of time ). Lately I've been using the brayers to do brayer-resist and the Joseph's Coat techniques, which are really cool. I think Angelheart has posted instructions in the past explaining how to do these. Hope this helps to answer some of your questions! Jackie :-) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Inky Antics Rubber Stamps P.O. I am truly thankful for your kindness in sending a total stranger my very first RAK.. It's an awsome good feeling that I just can't put down in words. (I've never been good with words to begin with) I would also like to thank everyone on this list for the many smiles..tears..tips..hints..and laughter that I have become addicted to in the last couple of weeks. Basically, they claimed to have all natural baby food & in fact it was mostly preservatives & their settlement was to give a $500 savings bond to any child under 12. To get it you have to send the childs birth certificate & social security number. I havent been able to find any information to support this & was wondering if anybody else had heard about it. I dont want my daughter to suddenly start getting credit card bills, etc because I gave her information to someone just trying to con people. Does anybody have any input on this???? Thanks in advance! Kendra This message was from Kre8iv@aol.com - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. I say stays true because it dries very quickly , if you don't have enough ink on the stamp it will look grey because it has started to dry. But if you're fast and you get a good black impression it will stay black when you shrink. you asked: Will the black ink from Comotion stay a rich black color once the plastic shrinks? Whenever I use the Vivid black ink, it ends up being a dark gray after I shrink the plastic. She had to order the stamps and it turned out that they came in at different times. She was going to mail them seperately, but I told her to wait until they both came in to save the postage. I appreciated that she let me know how things were going. When the order did come she even included Tootsie Rolls! (of course they are gone already!) Thanks Sue!
